The stone-baked crust was perfectly cooked, and you can really taste the quality of the fresh ingredients. A special thank you for the great service and hospitality. Atmosphere was vibing for sure, you could tell everyone in the place was enjoying themselves and felt comfortable and full of good food! We will return again, and again, and again! Until then... I'll be dreaming of that pizza!

I have noticed that they are frequently out of things, which might be an ordering or supply issue. One time, no soup. Another time, no croutons for the soup (no big deal). Today at 12:45 in the afternoon, no turkey for a turkey sandwich. That was disappointing. The service is always really great and we typically don't need to wait a long time.

I had the shrimp tacos, which were actually really good. The salsa on the side, though, didn't do them any favors. Chicken tenders were overdone and a bit burnt, which was disappointing. Salads were just okay, nothing special. The standout was the chicken flatbread -- easily the best thing we ordered. Not perfect, but not bad overall.

We came here…read moreafter a football game, and it was the perfect place to celebrate a win, grab some food and drinks, watch more football, and just hang out together. We headed upstairs and were pleasantly surprised by how much seating there was. Even with a decent crowd, we were able to find plenty of room for our group without feeling cramped. The upstairs has such a fun, relaxed atmosphere and is an awesome place to spend an afternoon or evening. There are TVs everywhere with seemingly every game imaginable playing, which makes it especially perfect during football season or after any Doane sporting event. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and honestly worth taking the time to look around. There are so many thoughtful details throughout the space, including beautiful woodwork and floors, exposed brick, historic touches, and tons of old photographs and pieces highlighting Crete and Nebraska history. You can tell a lot of thought went into preserving the character of the building while turning it into something that feels fresh and welcoming. It has so much more personality than your typical restaurant or sports bar. The upstairs and downstairs also have completely different vibes, which I love. Downstairs feels more elevated and is somewhere I would absolutely come for a nicer dinner, while upstairs is more casual and perfect for drinks, appetizers, watching sports, or hanging out with a group. Upstairs also has a really cool self-serve beer wall, a golf simulator, pool table, and plenty of TVs. There really seems to be something for everyone. And of course, the food was great! Our group had a couple appetizers along with meals, and everything we tried was delicious. The portions were generous, the food came out looking great, and there were plenty of options for sharing with a group. We had the nachos, cheese curds, Brussels sprouts, burgers and more, and everything was a hit. They also have a great selection of drinks. The restaurant was busy while we were there, especially with a good-sized crowd coming in after the game, but the staff did a fantastic job. Everyone was clearly hustling, and despite how busy they were, they continued checking on us and made sure we had everything we needed. We really appreciated how hard everyone was working and still providing such a great experience. Crete is incredibly lucky to have a place like Old Main. It feels like the kind of restaurant and gathering place the community has needed--somewhere you can have a nice dinner, meet friends for drinks, bring a group, watch a game, or stop in after a Doane event. It also feels very connected to Crete itself rather than being another generic restaurant, which makes it even more special. If you're coming into town for a Doane football game or another sporting event, Old Main should absolutely be on your list for before or after the game. We had such a great time celebrating there and will definitely be back. I can't wait to try more of the menu and spend more time exploring everything they have to offer. Such a wonderful addition to Crete!

Just flew home from a trip and didnt feel like cooking…read more Husband brought me there for dinner. We made a reservation at 630 for 7 pm and we made it there in time We were seated promptly after glases were placed at the table we were to be seated at. Ambiance was upscale. Dimmed dining room- suitable for a romantic night. But we also noticed a lot of families as well. In the middle of the dining room I noticed a little tree-like ornament. It looked very pretty and added to the ambiance. Hubby ordered a beer whilst I ordered a rainbow sherbet margarita. Drinks came pretty quickly. My drink looked very pretty- Its more tart than expected and im ok with that. There was also a strong raspberry taste though no raspberries in sight. So if you're not comfortable with tart drinks please avoid this drink. I ordered duck on the specials menu that came with green beans and sweet potato mash and my hubby ordered steak with onion strings and mac and cheese. Food took some time to come. Presentation was beautiful for my duck. Flavour was good for the duck. But even the pictures I attached showed that one part of the duck was undercooked. The other side was a tad overcooked but edible. The undercooked part cannot be cut even with a steak knife. The beans and the sweet potato mash was cooked well. Otherwise. It was good. They took it off our overall bill though. That was really nice of them. We then ordered desserts. I got a berry tiramisu, and hubby got the chocolate cherry manhattan. My tiramisu was good. Could be a little less sweet- as mentioned earlier i like tart-ish stuff. But it was still light and fluffy. Hubby's chocolate cherry manhattan was a little strong. But could be improved with a better balanced taste profile. We had a wonderful experience despite the slightly undercooked duck. Appreciate our young server very much. She was an absolute delight. And apologies to her- we forgot her name. She made a potentially bad experience a good one. We will be back.

One comment here was that someone walked past the hostess desk and just ignored us instead of informing us that someone is coming to seat us. - I know they are not rostered at the hostess desk. But it's just an expected behaviour in the hospitality line. There are a variety of seats available there- booths and tables and bar seating available. Casual ambiance- good for meals with friends. Apart from that everything was great. But our server Miriam more than made up for that little oversight. We got our drinks promptly. Blue moon beer and unsweetened iced tea together with a glass of water for the hubs. And we ordered spinach and artichoke dip for appetizers and later on, wings ( screaming habanero for the hubs) and a roasted chicken, apple and walnut salad for me. Spinach artichoke dip came with eggroll crisps instead of regular taco chips. Tasted really good but the chips were a bit brittle when dipped directly into the dip. I loved it but would have preferred I'd the chips would withstand the dipping action. Also the dip had more spinach than artichoke and not a lot of cheese. I loved it this way but thought it would be better with a better proportioned spinach artichoke and cheese proportions. My salad was really good. Fresh and yummy. One comment is that there seemed to be very small pieces of roasted chicken in the salad. I would have preferred a bigger bite size. Hubby's habanero wings were nicely done. He thought it could be spicier but it was good. Texture was perfect. All in all a good time.
