We recently had an emergency situation and had to buy a OW ticket pronto. I got on Kayak and this online travel agency gave me the best price on the itinerary I wanted. I booked it online around 6:30pm for a flight the next day at 10:00am. I was getting nervous since after an hour of booking, I had not gotten an E-ticket confirmation. I chatted with them online around 8pm and they said the ticket was still processing...to make long story short, it took my 4 online chats and 9 hours of waiting time....along with a threat to cancel my ticket with my credit card company before I got the final E-ticket and airline booking confirmation code. The last chat came with a "your original ticket price has changed...now it's $275 per person more".....I pushed back hardly ....until the agent said they would waive the "price increase". Absolute scam. Avoid CheapFlightsFares. I agree with many of the comments here. I booked a flight through CheapFlightsFares and realized about five hours that I needed to cancel. Their website, and Kayak's website, both reference a 24-hour cancellation period. When I called to cancel five hours after the booking, the representative spent several minutes trying to pressure me into booking a different date instead. I repeatedly explained that I only wanted to cancel. He kept pushing until I finally had to be very firm and ask him to simply process the cancellation. Then he told me British Airways was keeping $595 as "airport taxes and other government fees" and that CheapFlightsFares could only refund the fare portion, which was around $2,200. They told me to call British Airways, so I did. After speaking with a BA manager, I was told that British Airways has a 72 hour international flight cancellation policy where, within their stated window, they do not keep even "one dollar" of the fare or fees. While I was still speaking with British Airways, the same CheapFlightsFares representative called me back and suddenly said they would make a "one-time exception." After arguing with me and repeatedly lecturing me about my tone, he eventually said they would refund the full amount "as a courtesy." I never received a clear written confirmation from CheapFlightsFares. Everything was relayed verbally. The entire interaction felt deeply unprofessional. The representative appeared to be making up policies as he went, changing the explanation when challenged, and refusing to answer direct questions. He also repeatedly focused on my "tone" rather than explaining the charges or providing documentation. Two days later, there was still no evidence of a refund. The sale had processed, and I was still charged the $595. I understand refunds can take time, but after the first interaction, I was not comfortable relying on a vague verbal promise. My credit card company recommended that I get written confirmation from CheapFlightsFares. When I called again, I was routed through multiple people who kept saying I would only be refunded the $2,200, not the full amount. Eventually I was transferred back to the same representative from the first call. He again lectured me about phone etiquette and repeatedly told me I "wasn't listening," while refusing to provide the written confirmation I requested. I asked for some type of confirmation at least eight times; each rejoinder was about proper conversational etiquette rather than responding to my request for a cancellation confirmation number or other documentation. At that point, I told him I would report the company to the BBB and blocked his number. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I'm also going to contact Kayak, because I do not understand how CheapFlightsFares is being listed alongside legitimate companies like Expedia. This is the most despicable organization in the travel industry that I've ever run into, and that says a lot. TLDR Version: While I was in the middle of an itineray, a family member died; I had to change airline tickets. CheapFlightsFares refused to help, instead telling me I needed to work directly with the airline. When the airline said they'd extend a bereavement refund, CheapFlightsFares expected me to split it with them. They only relented when they were faced with the possibility of me going legal... which was when I found out that they'd been sued by another airline for scamming refunds & overcharging travelers. DON'T USE THIS FIRM. Detailed Version: -- My wife & I traveled across the country to help her parents relocate from their retirement community to an assisted living facility. We were helping pack & move their belongings, get medical check-ups done, finish paperwork, etc. -- At dinnertime the evening before I was scheduled to leave, my father-in-law suddenly passed away. It was shocking and very difficult for my wife & her mother. Later that night, I reached out to CheapFlightsFares to find out what I should do about missing my return flight, which was booked for the next morning. Clearly, I wouldn't be making it, and the only way for me to reach CheapFlightsFares was via an on-line chat session. -- The chat CSR kept saying that the airline's policy would dictate whether or not or to what degree I could mitigate the costs of these changes, but the CSR could not point me to where I might review that policy. Other than that, the CSR said there was nothing for me to do; I should just skip my scheduled return flight and contact the airline when I had a death certificate to prove my father-in-law had died. -- After doing what CheapFlightsFares' CSR told me and getting a death certificate, I contacted CheapFlightsFairs by telephone and was told that I needed to work directly with the airline. Once again, CheapFlightsFares couldn't tell me how. I contacted the airline (which is very difficult if you're not buying tickets) and got help filing a "claim" on their website, which I did. -- Two weeks later, I got an email from the airline, which offered their condolences and said I'd be granted a bereavement refund of 100% of my flight fares. Unfortunately, the card to which the refund was being applied didn't belong to me; it was CheapFlightsFairs' card. -- I contacted CheapFlightsFairs by telephone again, and the CSR suddenly became incompetent; I asked for a supervisor. The "supervisor" offered to refund half of the amount the airline said they were sending me. After arguing with the "supervisor" for several long minutes, I suggested this might be an interesting conversation for my attorney; the "supervisor" immediately became more cooperative. -- After getting off the phone with the "supervisor," an internet search revealed that CheapFlightsFares had been sued by a different airline because the ticketing agency had (several times) tried to obtain refunds or other change fee waivers on behalf of customers who needed to change their travel plans mid-itinerary or at the last minute. The lawsuit alleged that CheapFlightsFares made misrepresentations to the airline to obtain these discounts/waivers/refunds but then did not return those funds to the travelers for whom they were supposed to benefit. -- The next day, I received a call from CheapFlightsFares; the "manager" who called me apologized "for the confusion" and said he would make sure I received the entire refund offered by the airline. That money was deposited to my account two weeks later. It seems clear that CheapFlightsFares would not have returned the entire amound extended as a bereavement refund by the airline if I'd not pushed the issue, possibly if I'd not discussed the idea of involving my attorney. Complete trash experience. I arrived to the airport and couldn't get my ticket. The airline had no record of my ticket except to say it was canceled. Cheapflightfares person Wade couldn't do a thing except lie to me and say my refund would start in 24hours. So I bought a whole new ticket for $200 more than my original. Then an entire week passed, Friday to Friday, I call the number Wade gave me. I called because I had received no email or phone call or text. The new person I spoke with was no help. Every time you call that place, they put you on hold for 5-10 minutes of silence then come back with no new information and try to pass the buck. Today's call they tried to tell me someone would call me back in 24-48 hours but I refused and demanded to speak with someone who could actually help. So he gave me the number to customer service who did the same thing. 5 minutes on hold then no help and said Wade would call me back in a few minutes. 6 hours went by and no calls or emails. This is a BAIT AND SWITCH company. They never actually book the tickets you pay for. Instead the company makes you think you have booked great tickets and will even send an email via their "sister" company "Travelsntickets" but the actual airline confirmation # and ticket numbers are not legit as you find out when trying to choose a seat via the actual airline you think you have tickets on. The actual airline said they didn't even have a flight at that time of from that city and never had. Instead Cheapflightfares waits for 2-3 days and then call you back to say the flight was cancelled and then try charging more for a different flight. If you don't bite they charge a $150+ cancel fee. Alternately if you figure out the scam within 24 hours of your booking (after discovering you don't actually have a booked flight with said airline), they will tell you that they can only give you credit for future flights booked through them or that you have to pay a fee. If you push back and tell them about the Department of Transportation's 24 hour refund law, they will put you on hold for over 10 minutes and transfer you to multiple people all trying to give the same lie, "The ticket you booked was a (fill in the blank here) so does not qualify for a full refund" then finally they say that someone named Simon is now assigned and will call back within 3 hours (and never does). If you call enough times and repeat you are privy to the 24 hour law, eventually they might give you the full refund (which will take 7 days). I had to make a complaint to the Better Business Bureau before getting my refund. read more

Successful booking and confirmed eticket via cheap flights fare. Gave three stars as the process worked, but not without fear given past reviews and the fact that I had to call and wait for an eticket issuance. The story: I saw the fare on Kayak, which took me to their site. So I booked the flight (Toronto to Vancouver)- 2 travelers- after seeing a cheaper fare than the other online booking sites. I saw the green banner "free cancellation within 24 hours" so that encouraged me, but I doubt they make it easy to cancel or if that's even possible given the reviews. But since I was certain I would be traveling, I secured the booking, which was in USD. My currency of use: Canadian. Tip: Taken a screengrab of that free cancellation banner. If it's clickable and there's more details, take a screengrab of that as well for dispute purposes, including with your credit card company. I immediately received a text and an email of the reservation. But on the document they said I may have to wait a few minutes for the eticket. It may take a few hours in certain circumstances. OK, not a problem because with other reputable OTAs (Expedia, Priceline, booking.com and even the airline site that's the case... usually minutes to an hour, not hours upon hours). I read some eticket reviews where an eticket took forever to come through. And that waiting period makes me nervous because if I have to book another way, who's to say the fare will be around the same price? While waiting for the eticket to be issued, I started looking at reviews. Probably should've done this beforehand, which I usually do. The reviews were horrible, both on review sites and the company's Facebook page, with many mentioning that it's a scam, they will up charge, they will say the price changed or you'll show up at the airport and the airline doesn't have your reservation. That when the fear came in. So I called them and they said the eticket hasn't been issued, but it will be via email in about 15 minutes. The rep was helpful in finding the reservation and providing details. At this point, I waited for an hour and nothing so I was getting nervous. I see that the same flight on Westjet's site is a total of $80 more (for two tickets). With the uncertainty, I called my credit card company who said that the charge is pending so they can't do anything and I should work with cheapflights to cancel it since I provided my credit card info to them. I had a feeling that would be a hard task- a cancellation via cheap flights fares. They added that when the fare is no longer pending, I can call back the credit card company and they can dispute it, but I should wait to see their eticket and when the charge goes from pending to confirmed. They can't guarantee my success with a refund. They also recommended that for the time being I lock the card in case they charged the card more than once to give me peace of mind. Something I can undo when all is well. Cheap flights said they wouldn't charge the card until an issuance of an eticket. But my card was already showing a pending charge and still no eticket. Notably, while cheap flights quoted me $402 USD I did the conversion on google's exchange and it would work out to $585 Canadian. But my card was charged $602 Canadian. The credit card company said that's because there was a conversion/exchange rate hence the difference from what I see online (even though the online exchange rate was lower) given that their card exchange amount may be different (higher). So keep this in mind if doing conversions. Still, it was cheaper than booking directly through Westjet. $602 versus $668, which will help for my $50 bag fee. Speaking of bags, cheap flights was charging $115.65 round trip to add a checked bag. So I didn't go that route. I can pay for the bagged directly on Westjet's site ($101.70) About 2.5 hours after, the eticket was confirmed. I went straight to Westjet's site to make sure it's a verified booking with my reservation code and it was! Cheap flights issues a numeric 7-digit code. But Westjet's is a letter code (which also cheap flights provides when the eticket is issued. There were two reservation codes issued (one to go, one to come back). I purchased a flight to San Diego for February 16th 2025. After completing my booking I received confirmation on my flight via email. My flight was confirmed for "March 16th". When I called for a rebook or refund I was met by a very rude person from India who told me my fare is non refundable, that it was my mistake, but he would find me a way more expensive flight two days later. I literally went back and forth with him for 45 minutes with no positive results. In the end I had to cancel my bank card to avoid them charging it since the whole transaction was just booked and my bank DID NOT show a charge for the transaction.
