Great city views, worth the drive wish they had better signage for the 1st timer. Step Hills equals great workout

I hope you brought your best trail shoes! This course is built right on the ridges as the name of the course eludes to. There are so many fun short shots on this course and with all the extra holes to make about 27 holes it is all the better. Don't be fooled by some of the shortish holes that play uphill. Most of the time there's a little wind and those uphill shots play so much longer than the posted distance. My advice, warm up, limber up and make sure you have water in your bag. This corse, no matter what, is going to rest your game and your patience because sometimes good shots are penalized by rolling down hills. It's a total workout, but well worth it!

Depending on the amount of people up there, it can be calm and surreal enough to make for a good picnic to watch the sky and enjoy the sights. My friend and I didn't walk too far down the dirt path as we parked near the Elysian Park sign. We only walked straight to the large concrete displays with grafitti on them. We both enjoyed our experience here so much and took note of the type of shoes we need to wear next time! Would definitely want to explore back here again!

When Dodger Stadium is behind you and you face the mountain, start counterclockwise--trust me, you'll thank me. On the way back, you'll enjoy a gorgeous downtown view. At the top, there's a painted seating area where you can rest and soak it all in. A couple of things that could be better: It's a dirt/sand path, so wear shoes you don't mind getting dusty--unless you want to spend each day cleaning them. It's usually around 6,000 steps for me--though that varies--and roughly 400 calories burned (but don't quote me on that!). Overall, it's about a 45-minute hike/jog with ups and downs--just enough to get your heart going, and then you can treat yourself to a city-state after. Pretty good overall--highly recommend it!

I love how Griffith Park is a natural oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. There are so many trails within the park that it becomes a choose your own adventure on how easy or difficult you want to make the journey. I came this time with a friend, and we decided to walk off some calories after noshing at a local delicatessen. We parked in a small lot at the end of a cul de sac that doubled as the Brush Canyon Trailhead. It was along the southern end of Griffith Park which was a shorter but steeper distance to the sign at Mt. Lee Summit. The initial mile was an ascent that took us to the junction with Mulholland Trail. From there, it was a series of fairly flat switchbacks that provided a nice overlook of the mansions below. The path was wide enough to allow lots of foot and horse traffic. A drawback was the landmines (i.e. dung) you had to dodge from the horses. When we reached Mt. Lee Drive, it was a junction in which you could continue around the bend towards Tyrolian Tank. That was a plateau which we visited on our way back with a beautiful view of the sign as a backdrop. Our decision was to continue another mile up a service drive that would lead us to the back of the sign. I think many people underestimate the additional winding slopes before reaching the endpoint. There must have been an increase of 500 feet in elevation during this final climb. The peak provided a nice view of Lake Hollywood in the distance to the south and the smoggy blanket that hovered over the valley to the north. The back of the sign was rather boring as you could see the scaffolding that held up the letters. We took a break and then descended to Tyrolian Tank for more photos. By the time we arrived back at the parking lot, it was a three-hour round trip that covered over seven miles. The weather could not have been better as there were few clouds, and the temperature was in the low 70s.

Seriously, how can any place be this breathtaking? This little slice of paradise is teeming with wildlife--birds of all kinds gliding across the water, turtles basking in the sun--it feels alive in the most peaceful way. Everything is so lush and green, and that iconic fountain in the middle of the lake? Absolute chef's kiss. Then there's the boathouse, the palm trees swaying around you... it almost feels unreal, like you've stepped into a dreamy escape right in the middle of the city. What I love most is that every corner has its own charm. There are plenty of benches where you can just sit and be, and no matter where you land, the view feels different but equally beautiful. You'll never get bored here. Whether you're in the mood to linger, take a slow walk, go for a run, or paddle around on one of the swan boats, this place meets you exactly where you are. It's peaceful, it's vibrant, it's everything. Honestly, it just feels like heaven. And surprisingly, there's plenty of street parking--which somehow makes this whole experience even better.

I was afraid to walk past them because they are aggressive, but I made it out without getting goosed.

My wife, my daughter's father-in-law, and I stopped in while walking back to the Chinatown Metro station. What surprised me most about the park was how clean and well maintained everything inside the fenced area was. Definite stop every time we visit Chinatown by train in the future. There is a lot of greenspace here, allowing people to stretch. Leashed dogs are welcomed, though the dogs we saw were happily bounding around unleashed. Real grass is not common in LA, so just nice seeing so much of it. As we kept wandering, ended up in an area of the park with a public art project called 'Endless Orchard', 32 orange trees planted in metal portable pots. Each pot has a verse of a 32 line poem, describing what it means to be a neighbor. The one that caught my eye was 'I grew up in El Salvador. I was born in Belize. I'm from Korea.' It has a snack shack called Cargo, providing food for park goers. Parking is limited, with nearby streets providing non-metered (when available, and the ones in the park charging $6 for the whole day. There are many entrances/exits to the park, but most of them were closed/locked this day. Not sure if I would come here for a concert, but definitely on a nice day when the surrounding neighborhood is less crowded.
