AMAZING!!!!!!! I will never use anyone else ever! The technicians arrived pretty early. He asked what the problem was, and after I explained it, he knew right away what to do. He grabbed the part out of his vehicle, did some testing, and confirmed that he was right. The 2 techs proceeded to clean and fix my 26 year old unit. Never once did they try to up sell me with a new unit or tell me it can't be fixed like other companies. It all took about an hour, and they were done. Zero stars if I could. I called for our business to get our thermostat replaced. I received a quote (I called twice and got the same quote) to get the replacement. It was one price and there was no disclaimer of extra charges for whatever reason. Issue #1. I scheduled an appointment and the tech did not show up within the 2 hour window. I called Chavez heating & air to let them know no one came and they did not know what happened. It wasn't a problem and I offered to reschedule for another day, however I did find it odd that they didn't know what happened resulting in not calling me to give me a heads up that no one was coming. Issue #2. The tech arrived early and attempted to replace the thermostat. He did run into some wiring issues and the job took longer than expected. He said it was the thermostat I bought. I told him it was brand new and it wasn't the thermostat. He tried again and it worked. He then told me that the owner (Rachel) quoted me an extra $100 and would also charge for patching the wall. I told him she can call me and that wasn't the quote or explanation of the service I got over the phone. Rachel the owner called me and immediately started to raise her voice and had a combative and angry tone before I could say anything. She said "My tech said you have a problem with the price?!" I told her I didn't have a problem with the price she quoted me and also informed her she didn't share that more money would be charged if the job wasn't done within a certain amount of time. I asked her if she thought it was appropriate for her to yell at a customer. She stated she wasn't yelling at me, proceeded to cut me off with her combative tone. Rachel cut our conversation off and handed the phone to her secretary eventually "giving up" and honoring the price she initially told me. I'm a fellow business owner and entrepreneur of 14 years and never in my life have I "gone off" on a customer and yelled at them. I've made mistakes before and fixed the situation by honoring what was best for or what was told to the customer. This "owner" gets to learn quality customer service and take ownership for her miscommunication. read more

My furnace wasn't working, I turned it on for the first time this fall season. I have a home warranty and they sent this company out to look at it. My air conditioner went out on the Friday before Labor day weekend. They were the only company to return my call Saturday morning, AND I had a service tech at my house in 3 hours. John explained what my problem was, and fixed it in a prompt and efficient manner. There is absolutely no hard sell - they let you make the decision. I attempted to share my experience on their Facebook page but I'm assuming they are not approving it. They were very friendly and gave prompt service when I called and requested for someone to look at my heater. My only issue was the bait and switch that was used with their "free estimate" which is promoted all over their webpage. The service technician came out to my rental house in Galt and was there for about 45 minutes. I received a call from the technician and he said it appears that my heater blower (motor) was fried. He quoted me about $500. I stated that I'd probably end up doing the repair but I requested that he leave me a quote at the residence. I was interested in getting a second opinion as I was hoping it may be something more minor like a relay or something. The technician then said there would be a "diagnosis" charge of about $80 which was included in the original quote. Hence, the bait and switch. I said the website had a free estimate listed and I was never told of any fee's for coming out (by him or the scheduler - I did not sign anything). He had zero response and the phone was silent. I then asked to call back after consideration; which he agreed with no response to my complaint... I ended up doing the repair and I was told that they were very friendly, informative, and timely. I only wish they would have been up front about any cost and I'm still not certain what the "free estimate" even means to them. For being in business over 20 years, I would think this is not their first time having this issue. The heater works great now and I appreciate their quality service. Joel read more

BEWARE. In my experience with this company: very inexperienced technicians and unprofessional management/ownership. This company does not have a good reputation around town and i would've been a lot better off if i had never had called them. I did call them because i knew the founder and wanted to support the business since his passing. My mistake. Chavez came out to fix a leak but ended up breaking the compressor while replacing the leaking TXV. I was out of A/C for 6 weeks during triple digit days going back and forth to get things made right and they've completely dropped the ball. Horrible experience from beginning to end. There's been excuses and delays; they've admitted negligence to installing the TXV badly but still they even have resorted to blaming me for trying to set them up for failure. They say, even though the A/C does not work still, that they've "fixed the leak i payed for". The money I've already payed "is all gone", so they cannot afford to fix anything else, they cannot afford to hire another company to fix it, and they cannot afford to refund me my money. I've had two separate companies diagnose a broken compressor. Caused by either the bad install of the TXV or from them forcing the compressor to run while they made multiple attempts to find the issue. I'm now out of pocket for that additional work. read more

Our AC went out during a hot spell. After an unsatisfactory experience with another HVAC repairman we had used previously, we decided to try someone else. Upon the recommendation of a friend we called Chavez Heating & Air. The office staff was professional and had great communication. The repair team came out quickly and showed up on time. We wound up needing a new HVAC system, which we had them install. (18 year old system had a bad condenser and coil leak) Everyone was great, working in an attic where the temps are well over 100 degrees they still maintained a positive and pleasant attitude. The work was top notch and they cleaned up the job site afterwards putting everything back so you'd never notice work had been done. Nothing but good to say about everyone associated with this company. They have a great business outlook, valuing their customers and their employees. Very refreshing! We highly recommend them and will call on them for all our HVAC needs. read more

This place is so trustworthy and legitimate. The air conditioner in my condo was dripping like crazy, more like pouring, when it ran. I had some other (supposedly reputable) company come out and the man who checked it claimed he had 16 years of experience. He said the pan needed to be replaced, but it wasn't available anymore so he suggested either a special-made replacement or to replace the entire unit. If not that, then spray some band-aid like stuff on the pan to prevent dripping. My father said we should get another opinion, so he found you guys and what a difference! Two young men came out and shared what they were doing to check it the entire time, they took their time to look at it, and discovered that the filter needed to be cleaned and also it was low on coolant. That's it. And it was fixed. I would absolutely trust this company to come out again. read more

My A/C fan went out and I called Chavez. They came out right away and said probably the main board, but if they replaced it ($700) and it still didn't work I would still have to pay. I bought the board myself ($205) and guess what? Still didn't work. I called another company out of Lodi and they took care of it with no problems. Tech didn't seam to know what he was doing.
