For 3.5…read morehours, it was just my guide and me exploring the wild side of an underground cave beneath Raccoon Mountain near Chattanooga, Tennessee. This wasn't a tourist cave tour--it was true wild spelunking that pushed both body and mind. Every twist and turn brought a new challenge as we climbed, crawled, scrambled, and carefully navigated rugged terrain where every step demanded focus. It was exhilarating, physically demanding, and an absolute adrenaline rush from start to finish. The last time I experienced wild caving was at ages 10 and 11 with the Boy Scouts. Back then I was probably half my current weight and a lot smaller! Returning to the underground decades later made this adventure even more rewarding. My guide and I hit it off, and I told him that when he visits family in Eustis, Florida, I'll return the favor by taking him on a kayaking adventure. Life's greatest adventures often begin where most people turn around. I can't wait to find the next wild cave and do it all over again! That cave reminded me that adventure has no age limit--only a willingness to keep exploring.

Tristan and Emily were our guides and they were absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly helping you get through the challenging parts of the cave with step by step instructions. For the majority i would probably not recommend carrying the following: keys, phones, selfie sticks, backpacks, bags, wallets, loose articles and anything you would be sad to lose. The price and value of this adventure is excellent and that the facilities are attached to a wonderful campground is amazing also. Tip: there is an onsite washer and dryer so you can easily wash your clothes after going through the spelunking and yes you will get dirty. The owner Nate was an awesome guy, he really made everyone feel safe and taken care of. not to mention a few fun things we got to do during our outing. Jessica was our historical city walk tour guide, where we learned about Downtown Chattanooga and the ghosts that haunt local establishments. Due to COVID we could not go in some of the buildings, but Jessica did such a great job that we didn't mind a bit! On Saturday night, Donnie was our ghost hunt guide across the campus of Tennessee University and into the local cemetery. We utilized different ghost hunting equipment and even got to hold them and use them ourselves!! The most talkative ghost for me was Rabbit. He communicated using the spirit box and the dousing rods. My ghost experience was, at the time Rabbit was saying weird words like "remind" and "calm down" things that didn't quite make sense. After finishing the session and walking back to our cars, I took a looked at my phone to find TWELVE unread notifications sent to me from one my students about missing work and inputting grades in the gradebook...they had messaged me via an app...called Remind. So awesome. My heart still beats a little faster even thinking about it.

We took probably 20-30 minutes inside, then hopped on a golf cart for the guided part of the tour. It ended up taking about an hour to an hour and a half. Our guide was so knowledgeable and made learning fun (per my kids!). If you want to learn a little history in a relaxed and engaging environment, you should stop in here! Keep in mind that most of the tour/museum is outside, so if you don't want to get wet or be too cold or too hot, plan your visit with the weather in mind.

But once we boarded the golf cart on the guided tour with Jody, that all changed. The weather was great, which always helps but the knowledge Jody shared at each stop took us back in history. As a teacher, I appreciated each detail and he (Jody) was always ready to answer questions. The property around the museum is where all of the history took place and Tunnel Hill takes great pride in their local treasure. I was surprised to learn all the seemingly small place had to offer. Kudos to all the people who work hard to keep this place alive. My kids and I had a great visit! I will note that it is more for middle school and up. And it's good for the kids to already have some knowledge about the Civil War. I only rate it one star less than perfect because the displays and mannequins need quite a bit of updating. We checked in in the middle of the night, so we couldn't see much. We knew we had to cross a new bridge and when we did we could make the outline of the cabin, which we already knew was on the smaller size. When we walked in and soaked the place up it seems so much larger inside. The space was so efficiently built that there was a living room, full kitchen and the sleeping area upstairs. By knows means is it Ginormous though. We slept great and the next morning we were treated to the view of horses, sheep, chicken and goats in the pasture back beyond the bridge and field we came in from. We explored the farm over the next couple days and the mountains too. But usually we were happy to come back, sit on the porch and talk or read a book or watch a movie at one point. My dog loved the area and the cabin. He is crate trained and seemed to think of the cabin as one big crate for his "pack". Although I like to mix it up when traveling, I think we may end up staying at the cabin again.

I showed up at 8:35 am even though I didn't need to be there until 930 according to the email. I waited until 10:15 am. No one showed up nor did anyone advise me of any cancellations. What kind of buisness doesn't have the common decency to contact their customers and let them know of cancellations. I'm also in the process of reporting them to the BBB for false advertising. If there were no 10am tours. I shouldn't have been allowed to book it. UPDATE....ON Febuary 10th I was contacted by someone and was informed that I had infact been issued a refund on Febuary 3rd. He apologized for not contacting me sooner. He also explained they didn't usually book a tour for 1. So my advice would be to call and confirm. I also feel like I was only contacted because I reported them to the BBB.
