We scheduled our…read morecabin vacation months in advance only to find Hurricane Ian bearing down on us here in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area. We have a small 3 lb. dog who the neighbor was going to watch for us on vacation but because of the storm he was unable to watch. We call KOA and asked if we could add a couple of extra days as we were needing to evacuate as Tampa/Clearwater was going to be a direct hit, they said YES! Asked due to the circumstances could we please bring our dog as we couldn't leave her. Even the Governor is saying don't leave your pets behind. Of course we wouldn't think of it. The person on the phone said. NO. It was against their policy. Because of this we would then need to cancel our reservation. Of course they would cancel but would keep our deposit. WHAT! I said we were not cancelling because we changed our mind, we are having to figure something out because we are having to flee due to the storm. She said that was their policy, no refund of deposit if the cancellation was less than a week. We called Tuesday and our arrival was Friday. Then she went on the say they have storms where there all the time and this is their policy...NO refund. Unbelievable, where is the human compassion? Must say it is not about the money, more about the structure of such an empathic policy. Maybe, I was stressed due to the storm and the unknown feeling of would we even have a home to come back to and my grown children located in Florida too. I was so angry, I found the phone number of Corporate KOA and called as I wanted them to know who truly represents them. The lady who answered was kind, understanding and expressed sympathy. She said she would contact the owner of the KOA Chattanooga West and hope that they would reconsider. She said and did all what you would expect giving this difficult situation. She made me feel like a person again that someone actually care about. Not only what we were going through but the logic to our request and the right thing to do. John called KOA Chattanooga West the next day to see if they would keep his deposit? YEP, they said it was their policy and the pending storm did not make difference and they sent him an email telling him there would be no refund. So if you ask me would I visit there, would I recommend?... The answer is NO as although I am sure it is a beautiful place there personal unkindness has certainly tainted my view. We are thankful that Hurricane Ian spared us in Tampa/Clearwater FL and pray for those who have lost their lives and homes in Ft. Myers. *Note... If you need to cancel please do so according to their policy because they don't give a @#$% about anything but the almighty dollar$. The owners of KOA Chattanooga West should be ashamed!

I wouldn't have given it that high a rating but jt was a nice hike. When you first start the trail there is a fork for the loop, either you go down into the forest or go straight along the cliff. Most people we ran into seemingly walked down into the forest first, which meant they walked uphill most of the hike. We went straight along the cliff wall and ended up walking down hill for most of the 5 mile loop. It really was only the last half a mile that was uphill to get back to the start of the trail. I highly advise to go straight to make less work on yourself esp if you're elderly or with young families. I saw a few people turn around because the hike up was becoming too much. We had three children 5 and under who didn't feel tired until we were into the half mile uphill for reference on the different experiences you can have depending on the route you take.

This is kind of a strange park as several sites are distributed widely but considered under the…read moresame umbrella. I visited several, including their headquarters with a wounded hawk at the entrance, a rainforest-y loop trail, and a splendid-looking waterfall. Individually, the sites were nice but not the best the state has to offer, but when one considers the sum total of various environs and the fact that Tennessee state parks do not charge admission, I struggle to criticize. I noted that a park ranger gently pushed someone to leash their dog on the trail without getting into a confrontation.

There is a big cabin in the back of the property and lots of trails. Nice shade trees and flowing fields of green. The place has a bath house the is kept neat and tidy. Everything everywhere was neat and clean. Sunshine at the front reception had a very bubbly and helpful personality. There are several different things to do while you are here. I liked exploring the woods that led to a small waterfall . It smelled so fresh and new because of all the greenery. I felt so far from civilization but wasn't. It was only about $40 a day with water and power hook up. You can get a sewer hookup for $10 more but the dump station is free down the path not too far from the campsites. I am looking forward to returning here. I love the peacefulness and tranquility of the place. I just wish I could of jumped in the lake for a swim but I don't think that is allowed. The stream in the woods was very cool and refreshing though. I love this place!

The campground was essentially empty and they placed us a 25 minute walk away from the bathrooms. This is not ideal especially in the middle of the night. Get there and was greeted by Miss Jesse She is the perfect picture of southern hospitality and genuine southern charm, a real champ and blessing to have met. She let me ride her horse ~ "Faith" she was a sweetheart They have 7 horses to choose from based on your style of ride. The Farm Owner is so cool, just a perfect gentleman and loving guy ~ Harold, who came along for the ride and showed me his place. 175 acres of Tennessee's finest land tucked away in the back mountains with Black Angus grazing the land, oh and one special brown Jersey named "Amy" Breath taking views, 2 ponds with a really cool tree forest next to them. I got the blessing of having both Jess and Harold to guide me giving me the lay out of the land. Horses were great, beautiful animals because of course Jesse takes care of them like their her babies They do events there too - weddings, church services, family gatherings due to the beauty of the place. I recommend this place and will go back. There's nothing like being around folks who you feel like you've known for years - that's Jesse and Harold Lastly, the charge was $30 bucks for an hour which beats all of the rest big time and Jesse went over the time too on the trail ride. Our Stay at "The falls at Sewanee creek" was absolutely AMAZING! What we expected was to stay in a…read moreglorified tent, detached from a big city, and hoped for a relaxing stay here. What we got was ... the absolute perfect location to spend a night above a 50ft waterfall that lullabied us to bed. A perfect storm came through in the night to maintain that REM. Then a fuller waterfall and a few dozen songbirds to wake us up in the morning. Not even temped to hit the snooze button on that! Mr.Miller's hospitality is superb. He enjoys sharing his creativity, which is impressive, and thanks to it we had a perfect glamper to stay in and have this great experience. We took our time getting up, had some coffee, and drank it on the back deck as we watched the waterfall, yes you read that right ..... waterfall is visible from the glamper, just laying in bed I can lift my head and see it. After morning, coffee we hiked down to the bottom of the falls and soaked in the beauty and the privacy of it.

Came here with Troop 513 and our Boy Scouts and adults really enjoyed a truly wonderful and satisfying experience. The cave exploration is definitely an adventure and challenging and pushes you to the limit while being guided by experienced guides. Our cave guides were Tristan and Emily and both were very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable of the cave and their experience definitely made what would have otherwise been a very frustrating and difficult task a fun and truly memorable experience. Tip: you can bring your phone if you aren't afraid to possibly damage or lose it as you will be crawling and squeezing through many parts of the adventure. 5 stars for the cave adventure and 5 stars for the campgrounds. Thank you for all you do for the scouts and making this great experience available to the public!

The Manager confronted us at our campsite after we complained about a parking issue. She brought 3 staff members to our camper.
