There were actually two reservation numbers associated with my booking, even though one was never completed because the business entered the wrong dates, forcing me to create a new reservation myself. When our camper had to be repaired, we called well before the stated 24-hour cancellation deadline to cancel. During that call, we were led to believe the reservation would be canceled. Later, we discovered it had not been canceled as requested, and the company refused to issue a refund. When we tried to resolve the situation, the conversation ended abruptly after the owner hung up on us. I have email records showing the confusion over multiple reservations and later correspondence acknowledging that a reservation was canceled only after the fact. The entire process was disorganized, communication was poor, and customer service was frustrating. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone booking here to keep detailed records of every phone call and email, verify any reservation immediately, and obtain written confirmation of any cancellation. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business.

Sharon Johnston Park is a park we frequented growing up. Back then it did not offer all that it…read moredoes these days; however, they have always hosted a Madison County Youth Fishing Rodeo every May. The lakeis stocked with catfish, bream, bass and crappie. Other annual events are a classic car show and a fall festival. I always knew the park honored Sharon Johnston but didn't know anything about Sharon. Turns out she was quite the "dare devil" and was a stunt pilot who tragically died when her biplane crashed during an air show at the South Weymouth Air Station at the young age of 31. She lost control of the single engine plane during a series of spins and crashed. Her family donated the land to the community in her name because it was a place she loved dearly, where her father built a lake, worked to conserve wildlife, and taught his children about the wonders of nature. Since the 70s the park has really grown! Now it includes an arena (think horse arena - not concert venue), a marked walking/running course, rental pavilions, a playground with pavilion, Olympic sized swimming pool, campground for tent and RV camping, frisbee golf, and a shooting range. It's a cool park with some neat rustic touches like an old wooden carriage and log cabin styled structures.

While driving down from Nashville to Chattanooga we stopped at the Ladds Rest Area to use the…read morefacilities, stretch out out legs and surprising take in the views. This location is opposite side of the Tennessee Welcome Center that you get to see when heading towards Nashville. The bathroom facilities were very clean which is always a guess when you stop at a rest area but these were very well kept. Out back is a wonderful view of the Tennessee River that you can take in and walk around to enjoy and get some pictures. Honestly, looking at the map between the two rest stops on this little island, it looks like the Ladds side is much pretty but I bet both are great. The Welcome Center on the opposite side of the highway has the typical "Welcome To" books and pamphlets that you come to expect when on a road trip and entering into a new state. I do have to say this is one of best views from a rest stop that I've never seen. If traveling through this area during a different season I would be sure to stop again and see what the view was like each season.
