Just make sure you really need a root canal before going. I feel I was talked into an extra rather expensive x-ray to convince me that I needed a root canal. They proceded with the first half of the root canal. Then, they basically said I shouldn't have it finished because it'll probably need to be taken out anyway... so, just find an oral surgeon. Due to lack of guidance by office personnel (she had recommended some over-the-counter meds for pain but refrained from telling me not to take it before my scheduled appointment which was the next morning!), the initial consultation was deemed "inconclusive". I rescheduled and went to my car. I noticed a swelling and called and asked if I needed antibiotics. I had been tasting a bad bacteria taste as well. They said I didn't need it. By that night, full blown absess (on weekend of course). Had to go to emergency dentist on Monday morning and got prescription. Subsequently, made it back to next consultation and they proceeded to do partial root canal as I noted. Procedure went fine and then was told I shouldn't bother having it finished because I would probably need the tooth taken out anyway. (I overheard the same conversation in the next room.) I just want to help people in my situation. Endodontists are paid to do root canals. Dentists do the fillings, crowns, etc. Oral surgeons extract. They all do their individual procedures and most do it well. Just review all your options and make your decision. read more

Beware of this Endodontic.... I went there because of tooth pain I was experiencing after a cavity was filled. After taking only one x-ray and putting very hot and very cold gel on my hurting tooth, Dr. Sorvino surmised I needed a root canal. I was on my lunch break and told her I would have to come back. She persisted I needed a root canal right then and there, and started threatening that my tooth would only get worse and probably cause me a ton of pain if I did not get the root canal on my lunch break. I was also out of my insurance coverage and would have to pay her $2,000 out of my own pocket and later be reimbursed by my insurance (that is their office rules) I declined and rushed out the door. They charged me $140 for that visit, which only consisted of the doctor talking to me, and the hot and cold gel on my teeth. I got a second opinion from my parent's trusted dentist and was told I certainly did not need a root canal and she treated my tooth with some fluoride. It already is starting to feel better. I have recently received a bill for $2,000 from Dr. Sorvino for a root canal that was never done! She also charged my insurance $300 for my visit there, although I had already paid her $140 out of my own pocket! I would highly recommend going somewhere else. I got the strangest vibe from this woman and I don't believe you should ever be pushed into oral surgery without a second opinion. Especially on my lunch break! read more

I was referred to Chatham Endodontics by my dentist for a root canal. I was nervous about the procedure. Dr. Craig Hirschberg and his assistant Monica made me feel at ease. Very nice people and thorough. They were explaining what they were doing and what I was going to be feeling. And there was no pain whatsoever. I had to excuse myself to use the bathroom in the middle of their work and they were very nice about that. No attitude, no sighs of annoyance. Their front desk ladies, Laura and Angela were also a delight to talk to on the phone and in person. If you have to go for a root canal, I highly recommend Dr. Craig Hirschberg and Monica. I went in for a root canal today and Dr. Sorvino was the kindest, most informative and most patient endodontist. I have very bad anxiety when going to get any work done on my teeth. I did freak out a bit but she was calm with me and helped me to calm down. She didnt make me feel bad what soever. The root canal went great. She was very efficient and it was done in no time. I felt nothing. She explained everyting step by step and gave thorough instructions for the after care. The office setting is warm, bright and pristine; clearly everything is kept sanitized, tidy and extremely organized. There is state of the art equipment and technology and Dr. Sorvino delivers the information using technical explanations, but rather with a more relatable diction. There are no corners cut, as she is detail-oriented, while also direct and concise. I am forever grateful to have found such an exceptional doctor and support staff so close to home in downtown Chatham. They all go above and beyond and make the patient feel valued and honored. I made a Yelp account for the express purpose of reviewing Chatham-Madison Endodontics. If you get nervous about medical procedures in general, Dr. Sorvino is the DMD to go to. She walked me through every step of the root canal process in layman's terms (even drew pictures), and assured me that she would do everything in her power to calm my nerves. Dr. Sorvino is a miracle worker. I had a failed root canal procedure and was told that my tooth could not be saved. I had given up on saving the tooth when someone recommended I go to Dr. Sorvino for another opinion. Dr. Sorvino was able to correctly identify the cause of the failed RC and put together a treatment plan. After the first procedure my pain disappeared. Through I am not an official patient of Dr. Sorvino, I feel I need to write a review here. i called the office earlier today trying to ask if there is a slot available for a consultation, Dr. Sorvino picked up the phone. After listening to my dental history, she offered to take a look at the X Ray I just took at my dentist's office to see if there is a need for an office visit. Surprisingly, within 10 min after I submitted my X ray via email, Dr. Sorvino called me back and gave me her honest opinion. This not only saved a trip for me but also confirmed my next needed steps. She also welcomes me for an office visit if I still want to. I am so impressed by Dr. Sorvino's passion for patient care, professionalism, and prompt response to patient's needs. WOW !! What a great experience !! After a month of pain having a constant tooth ache I was referred to Dr. Rosemichelle Sorvino-Macchia ! I needed my first root canal ! Of course I was in a full panic ! This only lasted about 5 minutes into the procedure , It was pain free and Dr. S explained what she was doing every step of the way !
