Both modern and historic in all the right ways. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We were on a bike trip and didn't have time to check out the spa--but they have a spa! We checked in around 4 pm or so and there were gourmet donuts at the front desk. Complimentary we were told for as long as they lasted. I don't have a lot of life policies, but never passing up a free donut is one of my top 3. Delicious donuts. Side note--we learned the next morning at breakfast that those "free" donuts in the afternoon were only there if the for sale ones didn't sell breakfast. Fair enough. The breakfast in the bar area was excellent. Sad that at least in last 2024, the bar isn't really open as a bar due to inability to adequately staff it. Sucks how much we destroyed ourselves in 2020-2023. Sitting in the bar here having cocktails before going to bed with the ghosts would be so amazing. Highly recommend staying here if you're in Red Lodge (and I highly recommend staying in Red Lodge if you can). I hope to be back.

Had to gave it to the wife and then get it back. Had Bugs around the A/C window unit come into the cabin but ACE hardware took care of that problem. At Over $300.00 a night, I would got back to Billings and stay and get a modern room. Don't know how they get so many good reviews but a lot of Bikers stay their and the late noise can be a bother for you.

After that, we tried for a hot shower only to discover that there was no hot water at all, neither that evening or the next morning. They have a big, inviting pool that's heated and indoors! The ice machine worked just fine. Parking was easy, there's a dedicated lot that has a big bear statue out on the roadside, with benches with bears carved into them. When I went, I saw wild turkeys roaming the parking lot! The art in here is something else. There's a term for it- it's scenic Montana scenes carved into wood in 3D. Cool. The room was good- it didn't have anything too incredible going on with it, other than the art. A small TV in the corner was ample. The HVAC operated just fine. The staff was very nice and gracious. Somehow my car back hatch was left open all night, and no bears or thieves got in. There's a sign not to leave food in your car, as there might be bears. Seriously. They offer free breakfast. It was short-lived before they locked it back down again, but it has yogurt, donuts, bagels, fruit, juice, milk, cereal, and weak coffee.

I arrived late afternoon and saw the note on the door, "NO PETS"...(when I've encountered this before, it sometimes means, 'not in the office/check in). I asked the desk person do they accept pets. Simple response, "No!" I then had to scramble to find a place for myself and my weary puppy. When I checked in at this new facility, the person checking me in said she'd heard from several people that had been turned away or had bad experiences at the Lupine Inn! Caveat emptor!
