Wine flights

Emma was absolutely AMAZING!!! My husband had a scheduled work call during our arranged tasting time and Emma went out of her way to make sure we could do our tasting in not only a private setting but surely the most amazing , romantic, memorable environment possible! The wine was fantastic, purchased bottles to go and loved every sip of our tasting flights! Best stop of our entire trip to the finger lakes, a stop not to miss for certain! Thank you, Emma!

This location is absolutely gorgeous. It was a beautiful sunny day. Since it was winter and cold out, we sat indoors. The selection for wine tasting was generous and perfect for those who have particular tastes. I chose a sweet flight. I only liked two of them but it was still nice to sit down and sub wine viewing the water. I thought it was weird that they didn't serve food but had snacks. I feel like everyone nowadays wants charcuterie or crudite boards so that would've been nice. My bestie and I had a great time and I can't wait to come back during the summer.

Really? Plastic prosciutto?!? Lie you couldn't bother to unwrap it and provide a better presentation?

Sadly I wanted to like them. But they don't seem to care about presentation or the customer. Felt rushed and ignored. Wines were okay. We only tasted the reds, so maybe the whites were better .

This was one of the stops on our tour and was fine. Nothing to create a strong opinion one way of the other. All of the wines we had tried were pretty average, nothing bad, but nothing too spectacular to make it more memorable. The atmosphere was very nice, and on a nicer weather day than we had, I'm sure the patio would be very nice to sit out on. Would not be opposed to returning here, but definitely not near the top of the list for places to return.

Beautiful winery. The view is outstanding! I love that they give you the flight of wine to drink at your own pace! The wines were good, I really enjoyed the dry Riesling.

A very nice winery to enjoy nice wine while taking in the lake view. Our favorite wines here are the rose wines they make from Cab Franc, Pinot Noir etc. I believe they use a different process than other wineries in the area or perhaps it is just the location of their vines but it is a unique wine. Stop in here the next time you are in Hector.

This place has very good wines and at a reasonable rate. Our party of four liked the sample flights. We tried the reds and whites with great pleasure and experience. There was a distinct satisfaction with the taste of their wines.

Chateau LaFayette Reneau was a stop suggested by our driver yesterday and I am glad he suggested it, but more so for the view & the cheese and less for the wine. Truthfully, I found their wine to be very average and underwhelming. However, they did a cheese pairing that was to die for. They paired four cheeses with two different wine options each and you could choose the wine that best went with your palette. It was fun and I loved the cheese. CLR is settled right on Seneca Lake with some spectacular views, but it's definitely not the best wine on the trail.

Great winery with lakeside views. I enjoyed this winery, the tasting room looks out to Seneca Lake and there is a beautiful deck outside. The service was as sweet as the wine, a bit sickly sweet and artificial, but not tart or sour. To accompany all of the wines, there are nice large bowls of oyster crackers. Although these crackers are home to the Finger lakes, I've never seen such crackers in abundance. The wines are quite sweet, so it's best to come here on a hot summer day and enjoy a nice glass on the deck. I recommend going to Atwater Estate Vineyards, next door. It has more of homey a mom and pop feel with lake side views and also a deck. As a bonus, you get a free magnet and post card for checking in at Atwater!

With so many wineries in the Finger Lakes, this is one you don't want to miss! Chateau Lafayette Reneau is a gorgeous winery overlooking Lake Seneca. The tasting room is a restored barnhouse and it is classy and beautiful. We sat outside on their balcony to see the beautiful view! The seats are picnic benches! We ordered 2 wine flights and some snacks to pair! We ordered a white wine flight & a sweet wine flight (my personal favorite!) You can really tell they put love into their wines. We actually ended up picking 2 wines from the sweet flight to bring home! For our snacks we ordered salami, feta, and italian crackers. We thought that they would be presented on a board but it ended up just being the packages and we had to take it out (assuming because of covid), but this ended up being fine because we had leftover crackers that we brought right with us. This winery is definitely worth the visit for it's beautiful views and delicious wines! Try the 2019 Late Harvest Riesling!

This winery is one of my favorites because the views are incredible. I went with the usual wine tasting of 6 wines for $5. My friend went with the chocolate and wine tasting, which was a $1 per tasting and came with a mini candy bar. I thought that they might use artisan chocolates, but they don't, just the usual candy like Milky Way, Reese's, and Almond Joy. I fell in love with their dry rose.

Everyone was so friendly, the view from the patio is spectacular and the wine is tasty! Couldn't ask for more in a wine tasting pit stop.

Last year, Red Newt offered RV guests a buy one get one "tasting"... which I found out is not the same as a "flight". The serve told me I could try again. I love this region and gave Red Newt another try this year. Stood at the bar for the wine "tasting". I would have liked to sit and hang out for a while but the atmosphere inside was all business. Between the hard sell to purchase bottles after the tasting to the managers doing work on their lab tops at guest tables. I didn't feel I could unwind here.

During that visit we sampled some good wines, so we knew we wanted to try it again. On this visit the service was very prompt and the place was not busy on this visit compared to the summer. During our initial visit the employee at the tasting counter first seemed annoyed that we wanted to taste wine an hour before they closed (The attitude improved when we said we were buying a couple cases).  The view is amazing from the large deck and dining area. One could sit on the deck and sip vino all afternoon. As with many wineries on the Finger Lakes their wines tend to lean to the less dry/sweeter side, but we did find some very tasty medium reds and red blends. The lunch offerings were simple, but very delicious. They offer a variety of sandwiches, burgers, and shareable items. One thing that stood out was their Hellbender-balsamic onion jam that they make inhouse. It was so tasty that my wife inquired about purchasing some to take home.  We look forward to returning at our next stay at the RV Resort.

Because of that, they wouldn't offer wine flights, which is a big part of the experience. We asked to taste just three wines and barely got the opportunity. When we tried to purchase bottles, we were told they couldn't provide any chilled ones because they were too busy. We also attempted to order meatballs, but the kitchen was apparently too overwhelmed to serve them. What stood out most was how things ended. When we decided to leave due to the limited service, we were told, "don't leave us a bad review," followed by "perfect, that's better for us" as we walked out. That response felt dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, it seemed like they were operating beyond what they could handle that day. If that's the case, it would be better to limit guests or temporarily close rather than provide such a poor experience. Unfortunately, we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed.

We did not have a reservation, but easily found ourselves a spot at the bar. It was a pretty rainy and crummy day, but even though a few other couples had the same idea as us to hit a winery to avoid the rain, we did not feel crowded in the space at all. The winery is certainly one of the most well decorated spots we visited. They really lean into the barnstormer and plane vibes, with appropriate decor in every facet of the interior. It was very tastefully done and gave the winery a certain fun and unique vibe. We were seated at the bar for our tasting. The bar was quite large, holding a number of different couples but giving us all adequate space to spread out, have a few glasses in front of us, and not cloud the others' conversations. You could chose from a few different preselected tastings, and I opted for a mixed red and white tasting while my husband opted for the all red tasting. My husband enjoyed all of his, particularly liking the merlot. I enjoyed the whites in my tasting more than the red (I had a weird after taste from one of them which tainted the red experience for me), favoring the chardonnay of all things (I am not a chard gal). We appreciated how our server engaged with us, telling us a bit about each wine but also navigating hte entire bar without lingering too long in one place. She answered our many questions about the wine, being knowledgable but also approachable. We had a great time and enjoyed our wines. Barnstormer was a great rec from our various servers etc while in the Finger Lakes - while the wines themselves may not be at my top, the vibe and service did stand out. That being said, we did take a bottle home with us, so I'm looking forward to enjoying that on a special occasion!
