I was on vacation and realized I had forgot my meds. I got online to find the closest pharmacy to Sun Valley and Chateau Drug came up. I would like to please urge anyone in the Ketchum area to use any pharmacy other than Chateau Drug. While i say this due to an experience with one specific pharmacist, it was on more than one instance . Management clearly has received numerous complaints regarding this pharmacist because I heard the same story from the competing pharmacies ... but more importantly from people within the drug store itself. We had just arrived in Sun valley for a long awaited getaway. On the flight out we began to feel a bit under the weather. By the time we woke up the next day we were both significantly under the weather. We had a function that evening and to be on the safe side we took a COVID test..... sadly we were both positive. I was recommended to other pharmacies but they didn't have the drug we were looking for. We tried Chateau Drug and they said they had one last prescription. I kindly told her that the other pharmacy would transfer the prescription and she said no and she would get around to it when she got around to it. We went to the Drug store and asked if she was able to make the call and she said we weren't her only customer and she would do it when she got around to it and then she would call me when it was ready.... All in a rude fashion. I then asked if she could give me an approximate time frame because I was feeling really badly and driving was tough for me and her response was " Why do you come to our town spreading COVID" loudly so others could hear. She said she would call us as soon as it was ready. We knew she wouldn't call.We waited and waited and after three hours I called back and she told me the meds were ready. We went back up there and got one prescription as the other was 1500 dollars. She aggressively dropped the prescription on the counter, took my credit card info and we left. Do pharmacists not have ethics training or empathy? This is the first time in 40 years where I saw a pharmacist who should not be dealing with people. Sun Valley is a beautiful place with lovely people and I know she is an aberration but she should not be in a position where she has any interaction with people.TWO BIG THUMBS DOWN read more

Charged over $200 for the same medicine I can get at Walmart/CVS/Riteaid.... for UNDER $40. CLAIMED IT WAS NOT A COVERED MED... But, they only submitted a claim for $104 to the insurance company. Hmmmm... and it is a covered med... but the prescription was for 25 and this requires approval. (If it were under 15... no problem). Not even sure they called... Terrible. Plus $43 for a single covid test... the same one you can get online or at Walmart for $16*for a 2 pack! The Sun Valley premium is a bit much at Chateau. read more

It is amazing how many different products are at the Drug Chateau! It's a tiny little store, but we were able to find sunglasses, Sally Hansen "manicure that lasts for 10 days" two-polish packs and all of the sewing supplies we (or at least one of my friends) needed to hem and alter a bridesmaid's dress. The sewing supplies were located right next to the swimsuits and flip flops. The store is conveniently located right next to the Atkinson's market so you can get all of your errands done at once. read more

Chateau Drugs is great, has everything and fabulous help. During these unprecedented times, I was stunned to see that no precautions were taken by the staff at one of the few stores in the area open during this pandemic. The items that I bought were bagged without gloves being worn or no mask, especially in a place where sick people need to come to get their medications. The staff touches surfaces and items that have been touched by others, no one knows who is infected and not showing symptoms. (The pharmacist does were a mask and gloves, thank goodness and thank you.) I went home and wiped everything off but a lot of people do not and can be bringing Covid-19 into their cars and homes without knowing it. Blain County is exploding in cases and one of the most visited public businesses at the moment is Chateau Drug, and should be the most careful to not spread the this virus. PLEASE, CASHIERS AT CHATEAU, WEAR A MASK AND GLOVES. YOU ARE LUCKY TO BE ALLOWED TO HAVE YOUR BUSINESS OPEN. BE A PART OF PROTECTING OTHERS WHO PATRONIZE YOUR BUSINESS, AT LEAST WEAR GOLVES!!! The pharmacist with the red beard provides the best service I've seen in years. He is patient with people who are just trying to describe their ailments and need an over-the-counter prescription. In my case, I needed an over-the-counter prescription to replace a doctor prescription that I had left at home. He looked at my doctors prescription and identified an over-the-counter drug that was a good match. I am really appreciative! read more

So many great finds in this place and the pharmacists work very hard to get you on your way quickly.

The store offers a little of everything...therefore, a "visitor or tourist" is given a helping hand when he or she forgets something when on a holiday. The location is good as Chateau is located in the center of Ketchum. The pharmacy is very helpful and friendly as are most of the employees. I find the prices a little high, but we live in a RESORT town...and businesses need to make some kind of profit, therefore, no surprise there! read more

This place used to be great, right in the heart of Ketchum but is under new ownership and customer service has hit rock bottom. I had a return, with a receipt, for a $3.70 item and basically had to get angry to get it exchanged. Many locals have said they have had similar experiences with the ownership and are boycotting. It's sad, because Chateau is the only game in town for a lot of little items, but I won't give them another cent until things change there. read more

Wow! You've never seen so much stuff shoved into such a small place! I was smart to ask an employee where to find duct tape since otherwise it would be hard to know where to look in here. They probably have everything if you just ask where it is! Great store! read more

I've lived in Ketchum for over 35 years, and have seen Chateau Drug go through many changes. When they first changed ownership, I noticed right away that the prices had gone through the roof on most everything. Many items on the shelves have no price tag at all, and you'd have to go to the cashier to have it scanned to get the price, then find out it is twice to three times what you'd pay anywhere else. Needles to say I quit shopping at Chateau, if I could help it. However, just yesterday day I needed three very small watch batteries for a laser devise. They had the batteries I needed, but the price for each was $5.99, $19.41 total with tax. Good thing I asked for a receipt. I went online and found the same batteries for .99 cents apiece. So, I ordered six of the watch batteries I needed and eight AAA batteries. The total for that order was only $16. and change and that included shipping. It's really too bad that the owners of Chateau feel the need to gouge people on price due to being the only store like it in town. It makes us all look bad. read more

The store is well stocked, but, since new owners have taken over, almost every time I buy something there, the price charged at the register is higher than the price marked on the product or on the product display. It is not a lot of money, but it is annoying to feel taken advantage of almost every time I buy something there. read more

This place has some useful items but the customer service is completely awful, especially in the pharmacy. The current pharmacist is completely useless, he cannot fill prescriptions in a timely manner nor does he seem to care whatsoever about his job. I went in today to pick up a prescription that was called in yesterday and after standing there for 5 minutes while those behind the counter completely ignored me I was told that they still hadn't gotten to my prescription filled. No apologies or anything so I went to the local Apothecary Pharmacy and had an excellent experience. They transferred my prescriptions over and were so pleasant and efficient. I would highly discourage anyone from wasting their time at Chateau. Save yourself the headache and go to Apothecary! read more
