My husband surprised me with a trip to Napa Valley for a birthday weekend getaway. We stayed at Chateau De Vie in Calistoga. We loved our time there. Our host, Nelva, was amazing! She was so warm and authentic, her breakfasts were amazing, definitely left a lasting memory. I came home and the next weekend recreated her poached eggs over prosciutto and asparagus topped with pesto, amazing! The grounds were breathtaking. The town was is very enchanting, looking forward to returning.

My wife and I had an incredibly positive experience on her birthday. We were treated really well by the entire staff at Chateau de Vie, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Breakfast was perfect, both the food and the friendly service. And the location was perfect for exploring the area -- including the Old Faithful Geyser, the vineyards and wineries, the petrified forest, and the spas in Calistoga. We'll definitely return to CDV in the future. In the meantime, we'll appreciate this sublime memory. Thank you!

High marks for the Chateau de Vie! Located in Napa Valley adjacent to numerous wine tasting destinations, personable owners Felipe and Peter, roll out the hospitality red carpet at this extremely charming boutique, bed and breakfast. Chef Felipe's culinary skills are on display every morning with a top notch breakfast on par with, and often surpassing, the meals enjoyed at nearby highly acclaimed restaurants. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. I particularly enjoyed the privacy of our carriage house, nestled among the vines which the owners/vintners use to produce award winning Cabernet Sauvignon. I also relished having the lap pool to myself in the early afternoon. This is definitely one of the best bed and breakfast destinations in Napa. I would definitely return.

I left Chateau de Vie wondering to myself if its owners Felipe and Peter even bother going on holiday elsewhere as their property feels like heaven on earth. The grounds are simply magnificent, and the food they prepared for us was better than of any other place we dined at in the area. Chateau de Vie has anything and everything you'd desire in a perfect vacation. From the tastefully decorated living/reading room, complete with diverse books, magazines, and DVDs --as well as inviting fireplace and cozy seating, to the well-maintained pool area with several lounge chairs, restful spaces abound. My husband and I spent the past weekend at Chateau de Vie with eight of our friends. Our group of 10 rented out the entire property which only added to our enjoyment. Felipe and Peter could not have been more hospitable, and they were so helpful in working with us prior to arrival to create a Saturday itinerary entailing winery visits and a delightful picnic lunch. We had a sweetly memorable time and already look forward to a return visit. Thank you, Felipe and Peter, for such an enchanting stay!

What a gem Château de Vie is. Peter our host was very attentive and brought us the most delicious breakfast in the morning. The view from our room opened up into the vineyard. Literally the vines were 10 feet away from our french doors as seen in the picture uploaded....epic! The bed was super comfortable and the room spotless. I highly recommend for relaxing getaway.

If I could give Chateau de Vie 10 stars I would. Oh how I miss it. My husband and I stayed here for our 5 year wedding anniversary the end of July 2021 per recommendation of our friends, it did not disappoint at all. Peter & Felipe made us feel right at home. We have not felt so welcome and relaxed in so long. The breakfasts on the back patio overlooking the vineyards were amazing. My husband and I also enjoy running. We enjoyed running through the vineyard each morning...such surreal memories we will never forget. Thank you Felipe & Peter for giving us an outstanding week to cherish we cannot wait to come back!

My fiancé (now husband) and I got married on 9/16/16 at chateau de vie. It was the most magical experience we've ever had. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay and get married. This is more like a 5 star boutique hotel. We've stayed at many 5 star hotels around the world and chateau de Vie is the one we would want to return to year after year. We stayed at the carriage house, which opens up to the winery and the view is just breathtaking. It's in a private area and detached from the main house. Inside is clean, modern, and we loved sitting on the deck and just going for walks through the winery at dawn and sundown. We woke up every morning to coffee already left outside our door. Then at 9am we had the most delicious gourmet breakfast made by top chef Philip outside our room facing the winery. There were wine and cheese in the afternoon and you can just sit on the patio and sip on a glass of chateau de vie Cabernet and listen to the sound of fountain in the back area of the house. Philip and Peter were the most gracious, kind, amazing hosts and made our stay an unforgettable experience. We loved chateau de vie so much we already made reservations for 2017 to go back. Thank you Philip and Peter and we will be coming back to chateau de Vie every September for our anniversary! Behshad and Marjan, married at chateau de Vie 9/16/16

Amazing. Absolutely recommend this B&B! Proposed to my GF on NYE and spent the day tasting in Napa to celebrate and ended our day at Chateau De Vie. The host welcomed us and treated us warmly. Before know about the proposal we were upgraded to a room with a better view of Mt St Helena. He recommended an amazing restaurant for dinner. The beds were soft and comfortable and the food was simply delicious. Will absolutely be coming back in the near future.

Wow! Just wow! My boyfriend and I spent the evening here while attending an event at one of the local wineries. Everything at CDV is impeccable and the attention to detail is outstanding! We stayed in the carriage house which had beautiful vineyard views and was so private and quiet. It was also lovely and tastefully decorated and included a cozy fireplace. From the moment we arrived the service was outstanding, warm, friendly, and inviting. We were served a yummy wine and cheese welcome snack and breakfast was beyond our expectations. By far one of the nicest bed & breakfast experiences we have had! We can't say enough good things about our experience here!! Perfect for a romantic evening away!!

Where or more importantly how do I begin to describe this absolutely amazing B&B in Calistoga which is located in the Northern region of Napa Valley, CA. My wife, myself & another couple visited in December of 2015 right after Christmas so it was pretty cold, but the four of us didn't care, we were on a mission that week, a drinking mission! We did really good too, LOL! The minute we walked in we were greeted by Phillipe & Peter in their warm, cozy living room with a nice warm fireplace that was a great start to our stay. Our hosts were so gracious to help, got us settled right away & immediately Phillipe got us a nice tray of cheese, crackers, grapes, & of course an excellent bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon to go with it. We didn't spend much time at the B&B that is situated in the middle of a beautiful vineyard as the produce their own line of wines, which are phenomenal by the way because we were out roaming around most of the week. However when we were there it was really nice & our hosts went out of their way to make sure our accommodations were perfect! The best part of our stay is that Phillipe is an amazing chef & cooked us some of the best breakfast meals I've ever had anywhere, period! He is an outstanding chef & we are all going to definitely come back during harvest season when the climate is much warmer to truly enjoy this exquisite home! Thank you both very much for your hospitality & outstanding establishment, you are truly the closest to perfection in my opinion! Overall Rating: A++++

This is my second time staying at this property. My wife and I stayed here a year ago and we were so eager to come back and stay again. I was worried that the second time around would not be as good, but I was wrong. Peter and phillipe did a fabulous job attending to every detail. The breakfast they serve is a world-class. They even remembered that we adhere to the gluten-free diet and made us breakfast to accommodate us every day. Don't forget the wine and cheese in the afternoon and full-time concierge level service for all of your needs including dining and other reservations. Best of all the property is absolutely gorgeous, immaculately maintained, and perfectly located. Add to that the guys who run this place really are class acts and need to be commended on running such a fine operation. If I could leave any tip for you it is plan ahead and secure the Carriagehouse. If you want to little bit of privacy in the bed-and-breakfast scene, this is the way to go for sure. Imagine coffee on your private terrace in a vineyard. A real Vineyard that is, and we even have a bottle of wine to prove it! Go, you wont be sorry you did

Outstanding!! 6 stars! Thank you Peter, Felipe, Eddie. Amazing staff, amazing facility, amazing service. I can't say enough great things about this special place in calistoga. Took my girl on a 3 day weekend get away. If you are looking for a beautiful bed n breakfast, located on a gorgeous vineyard, away from traffic, city lights, and tourists, you have to stay here. I didn't want to write a review because they might become more popular and charge more per night, which I would gladly pay. You will not find another BnB with gourmet breakfast coffee and OJ every morning. At your own time, and not specific hours of the day. Cheese platters and wine in the evenings. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking to impress your hina, or out with fam, the girls, whatever..you want to visit napa? Book here. I'll give you your money back if you aren't sarisfied.. It's that great.

For instance, we were in the pool when it was happy hour, so they brought us a glass of wine and plate of hand-made nibbles at the pool. They offered to make reservations at a good Italian place for us (Tra Vigne). When we came back to the Inn, there was a bottle of Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc on ice for the guests to share as a nightcap. They are perhaps the most thoughtful innkeepers we've ever encountered. The common area is modern and spotless, the rooms are inviting, the beds are great, and the HVAC has been updated (a good thing during Napa summers). Best of all, the breakfasts are incredible. They brought delicious and artfully presented plates of sausage, fresh juice, poached fruits and thick bread with house-made jam, and a sorbet at the end of the meal. And so started another epic day of wine tasting...

As soon as we arrived, as we were getting out of our car, we were greeted by name by Chris, one of the two owners. He was so welcoming and friendly! He gave us a quick tour and helped us figure out how to use the Keurig. It was close enough to 5pm, so he whisked us away to the beautiful wrap around porch for the daily wine and cheese social. There we met Brent, his partner, who was equally as charming and funny. They were magnificent hosts throughout our stay! We only wish we had stayed on a weekend so that we could enjoy the luxurious brunch we had seen in photos. However, since we woke up on a weekday, we each received a $25 breakfast voucher to use at one of 3 local eateries. We opted for Bella Bakery on Lincoln. Thanks for the rec, Brent! It did not disappoint and those vouchers were plentiful. I also really appreciated the little details, like the complimentary water, the snack bags for the next day, and the toiletries in our bathroom. Thank you for making our first experience at a B&B a wonderful one! We will absolutely be recommending this B&B to our friends and family!

From the moment we arrived, Brent and Chris made us feel like old friends coming home. The evening wine and cheese hour was such a treat. Local wines, great cheeses, and friendly conversation with other guests created this wonderful sense of community. And breakfast? Out of this world. Perfectly fluffy beignets, a croque madame baked in a delicate crepe, and berries tossed in a spiced wine syrup with cinnamon and star anise. It honestly rivaled any restaurant brunch I've ever had. The big wraparound porch was our favorite spot to relax, whether sipping morning coffee or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. The location is ideal too, right in downtown Calistoga but still incredibly quiet and peaceful at night. Every detail here feels thoughtful, and every interaction genuine. If…read moreyou want to stay over in Sonoma, you can certainly find inexpensive lodgings in the Santa Rosa area. But for Napa, you either have to really luck out, or really look hard. I found Hillcrest by Googling B&Bs for Calistoga (my favorite town in Napa Valley). The prices are right - starting at $69, midweek - a bargain by Napa standards. (Prices range $69-110 midweek; $135-179 on weekends.) The inn is located north of Calistoga as Route 29 rises out of the valley heading towards Clear Lake (approx 2 miles from downtown Calistoga). Be aware that the driveway is unpaved from where it leaves 29 up to the house (about 1/3 mile?). The family which owns this B&B was the same family that founded Chateau Montelena, although they no longer own the winery. However, this property does have marvelous views of the Montelena vineyards and the north end of Napa Valley, which are quite lovely. Since you're out of town, it is really super quiet and relaxing up there. There's a table and chairs where you can savor views of the valley, and a nice pool (although it's a bit loaded with pool toys, floats etc) with deck chairs. The yard is nice and there's a trampoline out back, although I'm not sure if guests are allowed to use that. I was a bit surprised that it was sort of self-check in. (The owner was out walking her two dogs when we drove up the drive. Be cautioned if you're not very fond of dogs that her dogs are very friendly and social.) Likewise, you may find that it is a bit of self-check-out (we weren't quite sure where to put the pay envelope). Although she took a credit card for the reservation, she said she prefers cash/check when paying because of the fees that credit card companies add. (Reasonable request, but we almost forgot to hit the ATM the evening before so we'd have cash.) Our room was the "garden view" one, which meant it overlooked the front entryway garden area. We had a two-person sized jacuzzi tub, which was in a corner of the bedroom. The bathroom had a shower stall, toilet and sink. There was an electric fireplace in the room, but we couldn't quite figure out how to get the TV to work. The bed was comfortable, everything looked and smelled clean. The decor of this particular room was kind of floral-collides-with-harlequins and we were trying to figure out where to move stuff to, so that we could put our own stuff down for easy access (phone etc). So although it wasn't to my decor taste, it was clean and neat, so I have no complaints there. The only complaint I have about this particular room is that the curtains were a bit tough to get them fully closed - since the bed was right next to the window, we had porch light coming through any gaps. There is no breakfast Sunday-Thursday, although she has some bread/toppings, cereal and coffee that you are welcome to help yourself to. The dining room/common room area has an interesting collection of furniture, etc - the impressive dining room table and chairs look like Spanish Colonial style. Overall, clean, comfortable, we had a good experience. The only things I really took half a star for off each was: 1) the check-in/check-out process (maybe she should add PayPal capacity if she prefers cash/check to charge cards); and 2) the reservation techniques - she snail-mailed a confirmation, and I would much prefer to have an emailed confirmation with clear statement of fees, etc. Other than that, I would say this is a bargain deal for Napa.

False advertisement about swimming pool, sulphur spring (not even accessible!). Very old beddings: fade colors, wrinkly,... All shades were broken. Every where in the dining and entertainment rooms were so dusty. Two stars just for acceptable breakfast and clean bathrooms. You can easily entertain kids with ranch animals somewhere else!

A family, friendly owned and operated property that takes you back to the 70s literally. It's like stepping back in time, where everything is exactly as it was in the 1970s from the decor to the dilapidated park benches, what's left of the tennis court, the '2nd' BIG empty pool or the overgrown grassy volleyball court and don't get me started on the rickety lovers overlook that literally caused your heart to skip a beat for fear of tumbling down over the side. The curtains/blinds leave no privacy for changing your clothes, keeping the sun out or possible other guests peering in - OH MY! If you just remember you're in a cabin that's a step above camping with a wonderfully home cooked breakfast to greet you every morning, then you've found your getaway. There's 200+ beautiful acreage, that you can hike, explore while finding their hidden gem of redwood groves and natural outdoor hot spring tub to soak in and you can bring fido (our doggies had a blast) or fish the small lake while you use one of their paddle boats and HEY the 1st pool that's closest to the main lodge is heated, clean and well maintained plus you can always grab a carrot or two to take out to the horse, donkeys and goats to have them nibble right out of your hand. The road to get here is much to be desired (long, windy and no lights at night) but if you're looking to get away from the city and disconnect from everything you have definitely found your spot. FYI you'll still need to have a dinner and lunch because neither are served or offered here, they had dinner one night, Friday night, but no other night, we stayed until Sunday day. But for the cost we opted to go to Calistoga it was BBQ chicken and Tri-tip, grilled veggies and garlic bread for $30 per adult/$16 per child, no drinks included. Bring an ice chest to keep water and drinks plus bring snacks and stuff (napkins, plates, etc) you'll thank me later. You may want to get a mud bath, massge or spa treatment and/or wine tasting or shop not a problem it's literally down the hill - you can still disconnect and have Napa/Calistoga too. I will part with what I started this review with - it's your choice, your money and this is NOT A BAD REVIEW only know that when you arrive at Mountain Home Ranch you are meant to disconnect and be off the grid and you will have the BEST TIME EVER!

The layout is a bit strange, in that you have to go outside to get from your bedroom to the communal area if you want to avoid walking through someone else's room. Not a deal breaker, just a bit odd. The kitchen was well equipped and we used it to cook breakfast each morning. It was a little too chilly to enjoy the yard, but if you're going to be there in warmer weather they have a great patio area with a large table. Best of all is the location. You are literally steps from a grocery store, coffee shops and all of downtown Calistoga. If you are looking for a place that can fit a ton of people, this is your spot!
