First were phone calls of her being hungry and that when asked for a grilled cheese they only gave her 2 pieces of bread and cheese. Not grilled. Then more happened when her blood pressure spiked to 200. What shocked me was that they asked what to do. DUH TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL. like come on. You should be calling us telling us your taking her in not asking what to do. Then when we saw her from the hospital she look homeless. Hair greasy and smelly. She smelt. And cloths ratty. Like come on. It's your job to inform us of her level needs to be upped. Nope to call to let us know she needs more help. When my father went to go see her they wouldn't let him see her. WTF. MIND YOU HE WAS ON THE LIST AND HAS BEEN ABLE TO SEE HER MANY TIMES BEFORE. then when we was able to go into her place cuz we moved her out. He noticed that she had half used feminine pads in the bathroom. Like does anyone check to see if she is clean. These people see her way more then we could and didn't noticed she was looking and smelling bad. And then to call us and. Inform us she needs more care. Nope. They took her money with problem. Now they want us to pay 4,100$ for a month she wasn't there. Not only that. They reported me as a financial predator cuz I put her in a new home that takes waaay better care of her now. Don't I repeat don't leave your loved ones in this place. Even the management can't even take any criticism on what needs to be done. Horrible place.

They have plenty of activities from outings for fun, medical appointments and shopping, to happy hour with music, theme dinners. During her stay there, we did have some frustrating miscommunications with the two prior administrations, but the current administrators is great. When we had to move Mom to an adult care facility, only 5 days notice was required, and the staff were very helpful. My *** rating was because I was quite frustrated with the level of communication with the care staff, the financial communication and their accounting. But bottom line, Mom was happy there.

The reception desk is also outside the locked door so they are the second defense. I would be surprised if anyone escaped down the road who was in memory care. I will say yes I have smelled urine at times but it's usually after dinner when they are taking residents to the toilet. The reasons I've been happy is all of the workers know my uncle's name and things about him, they do stretching and art on a regular basis, holidays they bring the entertainment to the memory care side too, the food is home cooked, I see mostly the same people there, and they have informed me at health changes immediately. It's not a perfect place but I feel it's just the right size to be like a small family. It is not cheap though.

Always plentiful and well prepared. The activities are abundant and so much fun. There are bible studies, support groups, water aerobics, classes, and many opportunities for socializing. Excellent Retirement Apartment Facilities for my Family Members…read more SITREP Both my mother and my uncle John have spent time in these facilities. Mom is still here and I come visit her. My uncle John has since moved on to a nursing home, but when he was more independent-living and ambulatory, these facilities made a great home for him. THE SETUP They are Studio-apartments for single individuals or couples. They have an excellent physical plan that includes many living rooms and multi-purpose rooms for the residents. I am very impressed with the computer room with it's four (4) whirring PCs! In a facility with more than a couple of hundred individuals that doesn't sound like a lot of computers, but this generation I have found isn't naturally intuitive to this technology. However, I have dragged my mom into the 21st Century world of computers and smartphones, and in the end she really has appreciated it. So she is usually one of just a few people that use the computers at any given time. GUEST ROOMS But beyond being residential facilities, they also have guest rooms that I have taken advantage of because they are integrated into this facility campus. The guest room I stay in is extremely inexpensive, and on the same compound as mom's. At a mere $35 a night - you can't beat that in any hotel for what amounts to a really nice studio apartment. I sometimes may begin and end a trip using my Hilton Honors Points at a Homewood Suite, but it's nice to know that for the buck of my stay in Seattle, I can stay at my mom's facility for my home base as I work and visit friends. HOLIDAY DINNERS I love the holidays at Northaven because of the festive celebrations they have around Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas (usually the times I stay in mom's local digs). She likes to show me off to her co-residents as I come visit and hang with her posse. They are a bunch of fun older ladies - and one extremely funny Pakistani gentleman (a former diplomat now living in this country), and we make the most of some of the holiday events. The facility really goes all out on preparing special dinners and they are really quite delicious with all the trimmings. But I have to note that even the normal average dinners are quite elegant and enjoyable here. GARDENS There are some beautiful rose gardens on the grounds that the residents get to enjoy. All the gardening and trimming is quite exceptional and the ground are kept beautiful all year round.. THE LOWDOWN A very sweet and quaint facility to make home in one's sunset years.
