I moved my 92-year-old mother from Brookdale Assisted Living in Monroe to North Creek by…read moreBonaventure on the Bothell-Everett highway in Bothell, WA. Mom's memory was declining, and she needed memory care. The first time I took a tour of Bonaventure I was highly impressed with the facility. Just walking through the front door gave a lift to my spirits in that I was greeted with a brightly lit, newly renovated looking facility. The dining rooms looked like elegant upper-level restaurant dining. I found out they have a "gourmet" chef on staff and after trying their food I would agree. All the staff - the administration, the nurses, and care aides - even the maintenance people - were all highly professional and personable. The facility was welcoming as well as the people who work there. Dulcie Chase, the admissions director, was very welcoming and pleasant; as was each of the receptionists and Dakota Bingham, the assistant executive director. They all give the impression that this is not just a business, it is a welcoming living space where residents are seen as people with feelings and needs. My mom, entering the end of her life with memory loss and dementia, had a couple weeks of adjustment she went through. After this adjustment period was over, she warmed up to the staff caring for her. I found the staff from the very beginning trying to make mom's stay as pleasant as possible, looking at all her needs, and responding to my requests. They truly cared for my mother up until the time of her passing. They were with her when she passed, which I really appreciated. The staff always welcomed my presence, visits, questions and suggestions. I did not have one negative experience with any of the staff. My wife's mother and father were also at Brookdale in Monroe until they could no longer give my father-in-law the level of care he required. We suggested Bonaventure and set it up for them to move. They were quite impressed with the facility, the food, and the care level offered to them. As of this writing my mother and father-in-law are residing there now. With my father-in-law's new and more intensive level of care, the staff is highly responsive to our calls and the Assisted Living Director, Lara, is easy to work with. I can tell Lara really cares about her job and the people she serves. My father-in-law is now getting the end-of-life level of care that he requires. I could not be happier with the facility and the staff who care for our elderly parents. I highly recommend Bonaventure.

She has a huge 850 sq ft studio with a walk in closet, full kitchen, storage room with washer and dryer hook up, huge bathroom with a walk in shower, AC. Some of the places I toured didn't have AC, lighting, no storage and very small rooms. There are also 1 and 2 BR apartments. My mom is in independent living since I am there every day to help her with her meds. She gets 2 meals a day. Visitors can join the meals for a reasonable charge. Holiday meals/buffets are amazing! I have met many nice people by sitting at different tables for dinner. The management and kitchen staff has changed numerous times, but the current staff is wonderful. The chef had his own restaurant at one time. There are activities all day that are available. My mom is 101 and attends the exercise class. There are additional drop in events such as magicians, singers, pianists, a mini pony, tea parties for birthdays, holiday parties, happy hour every Friday.

From the very beginning, they were made to feel at home, made many friends, and found a community that was interested in their well being. During the process of my father passing away, he was continually cared for with kindness, dignity and a level of care we could have never expected! The Executive Director, Michelle, and the Head of Nursing, Clarence, both showed up in the middle of the night as things were progressing quickly. They were solely there to provide comfort, support and friendship as we walked the painful process. Who does that? Showing up at 1:00am to provide a shoulder to cry on! The staff at VPB does. I can never thank them enough for treating my family as their own. My mother is still there and has now formed her own community there. Fellow residents stop by her apartment to say hello and check on her daily. Her care by the nursing staff is diligent and compassionate. We never worry that she isn't getting the BEST of care. Do yourself the privilege and find confidence in VPB. You won't regret it We sure don't!

She would call me, let me know her pills were wrong, I would follow up and they would have some excuse about new staff or deliveries. The lead nurse role always turned over; nearly all the staff turned over constantly. At the time my mom moved out, the lead nurse at the time was always on her cell phone talking or looking at Instagram and never checking on residents. I witnessed it taking almost an hour for someone to respond to the emergency pull cord twice. My mom used it to get an aid to assist her in a doctor ordered procedure and I was going to stop her and help myself, but then thought, lets see how long it takes for someone to respond to the emergency pull cord, so I let her do it. What if it had been a real emergency? Multiple times I saw a resident who was not always able to cut up his own food, just not eat, till I went over and cut up his food for him. He was very thin and his family never visited, so didnt know he wasnt getting enough food. I was wrongfully billed on two occasions for meals I didnt eat (I would go to the dinning room but not eat). My mom went in for surgery and when I moved her back, she wasnt as strong. No one checked on her in the 6 hours she was back. When I went downstairs multiple staff people where on their cell phones, including the head nurse who never came up. I knew then I had to move her to a place that had employees that cared and I moved her to a safer, more loving home. During the time there, my mom did love her friends and the activities, which is why I left her there so long. But she often said, this isnt the place if I need help. I lived close by and check on her often so, I felt it was okay. But this is NOT the place to leave a loved one who needs a lot of care or a place to age in place if you dont have family checking on you throughout the week.

I stopped working in order to attend medical school in pursuit of a career as a physician. From the nurses to the restaurant staff, to the management and the front desk, I always felt that everyone here put the well-being of the residents first. Whether it was at an afternoon happy hour, a birthday celebration, or an everyday meal, it was clear to me that the residents here were active participants in a vibrant and supportive community. If I were to entrust the well-being of a family member to a senior living community, I would genuinely choose this one without hesitation. My experience here left a positive lasting impression on me that I will carry throughout my career, and I'm grateful to have played a small role in such an incredible community.

I was accused of calling them (my cell records tell a different tale) and attempting to 'coerce" her into signing legal documents!! Someone perjured themselves saying this when I have never even stepped foot on their property, let along called and talked to them. Way out of line for a place that I have never been to. They don't know me, what I look like or what I sound like. I don't even know what the building looks like! While they may think it is okay to interfere in peoples lives, I do not take kindly to defamation and character assassination from people whom I have never laid eyes on. I have had to retain legal counsel in order to correct their misinformation and interference in my life and my family's life. Absolutely unacceptable. Take heed and stay the heck away! This place is overpriced and sticks their noses where it does not belong.

Although we were very hesitant to make the change to memory care, we couldn't be more delighted with the unit. All the caregivers are excellent and treat us like family. Heck, we feel like family. I have never seen such an array of stimulating and enriching activities that Violet and the exercise and music therapists Diana and Kaiya provide. And it's written all over the residents' faces when they sing and participate. The movement therapist also is excellent and gets everyone moving with great songs! Additionally, the unit brings in special speakers for enrichment learning and other musicians for great song sessions. Overall, we are so pleased with Memory Care and glad we made the move.
