Prost is a one stop pharmacy and medical supply and mail box…read more For most of my life they have played a part in my health and well being. Even now when I live on the street the side of the county it is worth the drive. Did you know you can pay your AT&T bill there? They have just about everything plus a good taste of nostalgia for we who have known their service ever since we came to Huntsville. This is a true taste of old Huntsville.

Now that the history lesson is out of the way, I have to say this Propst is a nice addition to Five Points. When I lived nearby on Ward, Propst Drugs was very convenient as it was open seven days a week, and I liked you could pick up over-the-counter items there, and Propst offered the convenience of an in-house post office counter. Darden, the pharmacist at the time, was very knowledgeable and helpful. I never considered it a "discount" pharmacy/drugstore; however, that may be an artifact from its name when it opened in the 1950s. I like that the business model has changed over the years, with the initiation of a "walk in clinic" here, I think around 2010, and the consolidation of the durable medical equipment at this location (which was formerly on Governers Drive). I can't comment to the walk-in clinic or the durable medical equipment since I have not used either. The convenience to both Star Market grocery (which has an in-store pharmacy) and the Propst Drug Store are huge assets to those living in Five Points. Most residents can walk to both stores and even dine at 1892 East across the street. Thank you, Darden, for keeping Huntsville's "Heritage" alive!

Today's review is from the perspective of pharmacy services. I was here for immunizations that I…read moreneed to stay working. The appointment process is fantastic--all online and simple. Arriving ten minutes before my appointment there was a loooong line at the pharmacy. The special garage door for COVID Vaccines was closed with signage indicating ask at the pharmacy desk for FREE take home tests. No thanks. I waited in the line behind six others who were there for a variety of things, most picking up prescriptions. Fifteen minutes later I made it to the front. There was a bit of confusion as to whether I needed additional paperwork (I competed it in the app). I was sent to have a seat and wait. Seven seats and they were all taken, so I stood. I have no problem with standing--I'm merely pointing out that they were oversubscribed. I was called back up and given...paperwork. Why would I spend time in the online system to "expedite" my visit..,only ti do it manually at the pharmacy? Furthermore, why would I fill out the same Vaccine Administration Record questionnaire for each shot? Then there was an employee shift change. Evidentially the app allowed me and some others to schedule at this awkward time. I waited for a full hour after my appointment. Each time there was an immunization the person administering it would lock up and disappear for a cigg break or something for 10 minutes. Must be unionized. I would have left, but they had my immunization record and I don't feel like recreating that. This place stinks to get in and out of, and frankly I avoid it because of that. I wouldn't be here tonight if they had not offered me an appointment. Bottom line--save yourself the frustration and an evening. Go to Walmart for your vaccines. Most certainly avoid this Walgreens.

I ask what time should I come by tomorrow. "I don't know." I get they are overworked but do better. Also it's the day before a holiday. Of course you're gonna be busy with people going out of town. Make sure you're appropriately staffed to meet the demand.

Walgreens - What's behind door #1? Nothing because the person that gives shots is on break 75% of the time.

Walgreens - Why have this if you aren't going to use it and expose folks desiring this service to the general non-appointment line?
