I opened a couple accounts with Chase in the Boston area because they have lots of locations in areas in which I travel. The people working at Chase are very nice, but their policies for fraud alerts don't work well at all if you travel...so if you travel in the least don't bother banking with Chase. The fraud alerts are outrageous and Chase is not open to feedback re adjusting any to fit your life style. I cannot tell you the number of transaction I had declined by fraud alerts while doing normal stuff when traveling. I am in line making a purchase for less than $100.00. The purchase is declined, Chase sends you a txt. You must confirm it's really you and wait about five minutes to make the purchase. Now picture the line behind you while you wait five minutes for your card to reboot. When I called Chase they said use your pin...NOT SMART! If your pin is compromised your account is really compromised.
Currently, I only use my AMEX when I am traveling to avoid the embarrassing declines and will close this account soon. read more
