I followed her from 55th to 47th street. I have dealt with a lot of tellers and by far Akira is the best because of her professionalism and her ability to problem solve.

The teller, who I knew from another branch, and is AWESOME, called me over and assisted with my deposit, but I still had to wait to have my card unlocked. Some other customers came in and was waiting to see a Banker. There was one sitting at his desk typing and 2 others in another cubicle talking. When one of the female bankers walked away and went into the office, I still waited for one of them to acknowledge me. I stood up and asked for assistance and the guy who had been sitting alone told me that they were working on something and someone would assist soon. I had to get to class and finally had to leave. When I was approaching the exit, I heard him ask who was next. Horrible customer service. I've always hated this branch. They never fail to make my visit painful and unpleasant.

The only time I was disillusioned was when my purse was snatched in the 90's and I had just put a new book of checks in my purse. I had to pay for each check used even though I had gone to the Credit Union to report my book of checks being stolen. I could not understand that and at that time it was too much going on in my life to make a change to a bank. Now that I am no longer in Illinois, I have UTCU and Chase; so far, everything works well. Nothing is 100%; so far, I am well pleased. Brenetta Glass

I mean, back in the day, you went to a bank to get interest on your accounts and have them help you make money. Chase isn't interested in helping "the little guy" like Marquette is. I stopped in at Marquette and was greeted very warmly. They took the time to understand my situation (I needed several business accounts), waived a few fees for checks, stampers, etc., and did a great job of keeping everything straight. I've since moved a few of my personal accounts there and I couldn't be happier with their service! As for the other reviewer who commented about holding checks, it's a standard bank practice, but you're only notified when your accounts are depleted. Let me put it this way... If you have $100 in your account and you deposit a $1000 check, they hold it until it clears so they don't lose money if you withdraw $1000 and the check bounces. Similarly, if you have $5000 in your account and you deposit a $1000 check, they deposit it, but don't make the funds available until it clears. Unless you try to withdraw more than $5000, they're not going to even bother telling you the check is being held because most people don't spend money that fast when they've got a nice balance cushion. It's not a personal affront, it's just the way the bank keeps from losing money on bounced checks. You're going to find that this is the case everywhere. Anyway, if you're looking for a new bank, check out Marquette! In the 20 years I've been banking, I've never been happier than I am with Marquette. Their services, range of services, and general customer service are top notch!

In addition, I research and report to BBB the services available to persons over the age of 60yo. My conclusions: 1) Citibank gets 5 stars due to their sensitivity to meeting the needs of the customers who are nonwhite. The Citibank Customer Service Reps are some of the best in the field. Choosing and hiring personnel who are aware of the customers being served appears to be one of the most important criteria for employment. 2) Citibank gets 5 stars due to the continued ease of using on-line banking. As a person over the age of 70, I found the internet process workable, as well as, comprehensive. As a result of my research, I have moved my direct deposit to Citibank and will consider establishing my business account there, in the future.
