The line at chase with 2 tellers (one helping someone open an account) and no other employees in sight
    Tom R.

This bank just sucks. I go in at 11:25 in hopes of beating the lunch rush. Haha what a joke 2 tellers and one is helping someone open a new account. No other employees to be found. The line has 6-8 people in it and due to covid is out the door. Why my wife banks here I have no idea. This place only cares about the American citizen when they screw up and want us to bail them out. The rest of the time they treat us like we are stupid and we just keep allowing the dog crap treatment. I hope when covid is over everywhere in the world we go back to customer service being important. Chase Bank really doesn't care and I hope they feel the pain when things get back to normal. Anyway I left and did not deposit the check my wife asked me to. She will have to do it herself.

Over the years our bank, Chase has been very good to us. We have been with our specific branch and loyal to our branch near our house even when it was Washington Mutual and before that when it was Home Savings. Home Savings used to have an advertising slogan that they were "America's largest savings and loan." They had various spokespeople. First it was Geoge Fenneman (from Groucho Marx's "You Bet Your Life" t.v. show) and then they had Harry Vonzell (from the George Burns & Gracie Allen t.v. show). I guess my point is we loved this bank. They never had errors on our account balances or transactions. The tellers have always been very friendly and they always brightened our day when we saw them as we went into the branch to do our various financial transactions. They have a full service 24 hour customer service line with a real live representative (!) and their website has been convenient and error free for us, with most transactions posting very quickly and accurately. However, lately.... probably partly because of the business pressures of the COVID 19 virus here in the Los Angeles area, we now have a few complaints. Regardless of the pandemic and its intensity here, this things I am about to talk probably should never happen in a decently run business. Chase has (supposedly temporarily) closed our branch months ago and the other branch closest to us now is closed. You have to make an appointment just to get at your safe deposit box even. We live in a very populated part of the Los Angeles basin... an upper middle class neighborhood. I think they should have at least kept ONE of these two branches open. Also, with them now... they are still pushing to eliminate having live bank tellers. I can tell they have been trying to do this even before the pandemic. They have these more advanced automated tellers now, but using these is NOT the same, nor as pleasant as having a real, live, breathing smiling face helping. Some branches have NO tellers now. This really sucks, because as I have said, we like dealing with real people. I repeat it because I think it is important to think about this. Also, why do they have to LAY OFF their employees when they are doing such a good job???? And then one other (final) thing that is bothering me. I tried to call the nearest branch to us about an hourand a half ago (11 a.m.) in order to get the phone number of our retirement financial adviser. (We have over $200,000 in our accounts.) Twice there was no answer when they were open and there was a voicemail message that said that they were too busy to answer and for me to call back! No messages taken at all! What kind of bank does not answer their phone? Come on, Chase. Some people in management and at the corporate level now are making some BAD business decisions! Get it together, Chase. I have to give you only FOUR STARS now, instead of my previous FIVE STARS. I hope this downward trend of cutting off customer service things stops soon. Bring back the tellers and branches. Answer your freakin' phone! I don't want you to be like Bank of America and totally suck. _

I found this WFB off of Azusa Ave which is less than a couple miles from the 210 Fwy. I said perfect! I didn't know that this WFB is in a historic building built in 1906. WOW!!! That is about 118 years old. Amazing how historical sites still surround us in today's times. I felt like I was banking in the past, but in modern colors. The old door trimmings were still in tact. The steel gate outside of the vault is still there. The high ceiling beams had beautiful art. I was admiring the look and feel of the bank while standing in line. It was humbling. I actually had a tearful moment. Maybe I was there before at one point in a past life... who knows. Anyway, it was very busy. There were about 20 people in front of me. I stuck through it. Once it was my turn, I walked up to the bank teller and started engaging in the exchange transaction. Bank teller was pleasant and friendly. It took a little while for them to count the rolls since I had a few hundred dollars to exchange. They have these trays to help them expedite the count. Funny, the bank teller thought one of my penny rolls was short so she had to take out one roll and double check which was fine with me. I didn't take it personally. I want to make sure the bank got the right amount of coins for the bills they were going to give me LOL. It should always be a fair and even exchange LOL. After all was said and done, bank got my coins and I got my bills! Thank you WFB!!!

After about 10 minutes, the manager came out with the check and told us they couldn't deposit it. I asked why, but she couldn't provide a clear reason--only saying that they were "unable to verify the check." I asked if it was because the amount was too high, and she replied, "maybe," which was both confusing and unprofessional. Since when does a bank refuse to deposit a check simply because the amount is high? To make things worse, the manager became visibly impatient and asked us to leave, possibly because her shift was ending. The entire experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and left us feeling disrespected. We expected better service and clearer communication from a financial institution. I recommend that you do not deposit money at this branch as you may be rejected for depositing too much money.
