In December 2018 a car rental company tried to overbill me. Itw as the fault of the L.A. franchise local/closest to my house & not their corporation in general, so i was able to get this situation straightened out on my own w/no help from Chase bank cardmember services. I apprised CHASE BANK right away i was disputing $500 of the $848.00 of the car rental charge, and would be paying (as i did and have ample legal proof of doing so) the $348 legitimate, fair charge of that $848.00. I sent the check to CHASE Bank cardemmebr services early and with myc heck for all but the $500 to, AS ALWAYS, pay my balance in full in 30 days. I explained why and my check alone was easy proof of my intentions. The car rental company removed the $500 charge and CHASE BANK is trying to get me to pay ANOTHER $348 in charges--my check to ChASE cashed IN FULL, i was not given any hard money return of any of my funds and that $348 was NEVERpaid forward to the car rental company as i requested. CHASE BANK claims : 1) Despite my intent to pay the fair portion fo the charge upfront, that its not their policy to do that, they dispute the whole billthen sort it out later, and 2) Eric Kim of CHASE BANK in los angeles, ca claimed that CHASE cardemember services said they already DSETROYED my original check toCHASE BANK in the amount of my bill LESS ONLY the $500. (I have proof from my regular bank where i have my checking account that my payment check to CHASE cashed in its entirety--they didnt remit to me or give me any hard money return of that $348, yet CHASE BANK is trying to get me to pay the $348 AGAIN). I informed CHASE BANK right away f this situaiton, explained in full my reasons why, and at that time a couple months ago i naively and mistakenly trusted CHASE BANK to be on my side. I was wrong. But i proceeded at that time as if they were. I have the proof my check to CHASE BANK was cashed and i got ample legal proof from my checking account bank and i still have the carbon copy of my check to CHASE--which i have in my file preparing for legal procedure regarding what CHASE BANK is doing to me. Its UNCONSCIONABLE, stupid, and unprofessional as well as irresponsible to destroy a document in service of a DISPUTED case as i was told CHASE BANK did--CHASE was informed immediately along with my check i was disputing $500 of the $848 bill and im appalled my check was somehow destroyed. Luckily i have proof i paid it despite CHASE's sabotage. Im VERY glad & lucky i didnt succumb to CHASE's occasional pressure to open a companion checking account tomy credit card. If i had, my proof would have been rdestroyed and i would be screwed, no choice but to pay the blackmail they are currently insisting on. I will not pay that bill twice!
Strongly recommend no one trust CHASE BANK cardmember services as i did. Big mistake on my part, and now i have a legal headache. read more
