The rudest bank teller in the world told me they needed 5 business days notice to cash the check. I asked if the check was drawn on the bank, if the check was good, and what was the bank going to do for me. I was told in no uncertain terms that Fifth Third was DOING NOTHING FOR ME and that I could like it or lump it! How is this bank still in business? I needed it in my account to pay bills the following day (today). I was unable to contact anyone since it was 8:23pm. I woke up at 845am so I could be the first to call when headquarters opened at 9am. Basically long story short, they are not crediting me my $215 and I have to wait 10 business days to see if I even get MY money! I spoke with a supervisor and then a manager and no one was of any sort of help to me. The only positive note is a very nice woman at the Howell location who was advocating for me to get my money to the customer service workers. I WILL be closing my account once the dispute is settled. I have banked with Lake Trust for over 5 years and this is the most absurd thing.

Went into the Brighton branch to change my name to my married name. One of my accounts has my mom…read moreas a cosigner. They require both parties to be there but my mom had a massive stroke and is in a rehab facility with no use of her left side and can't sign anything. I have POA for her, which includes financial transactions. When the employee who was helping me went to ask the person who I am assuming is the branch manager, but don't know because she never came out of her corner, she told him that having POA doesn't give me the ability to sign for her. I don't know how she decided that because she couldn't be bothered to look at the legal POA papers I had or even ask if I had them. I was told I had to contact a customer service line and they would send her the paperwork. Since they only require one account holder to close the account, I have already started the process of stopping direct deposits so the accounts can be closed. I hope the next person who comes in dealing with a family emergency is treated better than I was. I also recommend someone take a closer look at the reviews about this branch manager and have a discussion about her customer service & attitude.

Unfortunately, every time I've gone there, I've had a negative experience with the staff being rude and unhelpful. The first time I visited after opening my account, I didn't know how to fill out deposit slips and was also in the process of trying to get a vehicle that day. When I asked for help, the staff acted like they didn't care and made no real effort to assist. Since then, whenever I've deposited cash, the workers' attitudes have been dismissive and unprofessional. Most recently, I had an issue with a check not going through at the ATM. I went inside to figure it out and was immediately told I needed a renewal check--without the employee even looking at it. Today I found out that the check was fine, which means I wasted another trip to the bank because of their lack of effort. Overall, my experiences here have been frustrating and disappointing. I can't wait to switch back to Lake Trust once I move back.
