They raise rates with no notice, give zero leeway on any late payment and now they switch your landline phone number with no notice and don't tell you or give a credit. All the people I've dealt with were great. Arrived on time for appointments, courteous and professional HOWEVER their equipment is another story!! They proudly day that they are the nation's second largest telecommunication company. In less than one year, I have had to have my cable box reset at least 6 times, including two service calls. That is about 4 times the problems I had in 10 years with DISH The DVR is a huge POS! It demands that you change channels or cancel a recording, even when you have only one recording scheduled and you are already on that channel it can only record two things at once. DISH had 16 channels on the hopper Today, while trying to choose a program, once I got past the horse hockey times (what network starts a show at, say 4:03? Apparently a lot), I discovered that virtually every thing that sounded interesting was not what wAs actually being broadcast The Simpsons was a fishing show, Antiques Roadshow a glass blowing documentary Only worth it because I got a price for the, wifi, and phone packaged. This has got to be the absolute worst company I have dealt with. We ordered a flip phone for my daughter. It arrived broken . You have a 14 day money back guarantee. It took spectrum over two weeks to decide it was not my fault that the new phone was broke so they finally sent us a "complimentary phone" to replace the broken phone. Thus, my 14 day return field was taken up. But now we have a phone that we cannot get to work. Period. Cannot get reception not even one bar. Spectrum had me send the phone to Samsung who kept it another week sent it back saying the phone was not broke. I never said it was broke. Just can't get connected to use it. Once again I ask for my money back. In the meantime, my daughter got a flip phone from consumer cellular. It came with 3 bars and works. But now, spectrum is forcing me to keep a phone that doesn't work because it's past the 14 days (they had us wait for a decision about the first phone that was broke)not my fault but we are being forced to keep a phone that doesn't work. Would you pay $125.00 for a phone that doesn't work. Help!!!!!!a this has been going on since November 4,20120. They are sending it back to me again. Why do I want a phone that I can't use????? Really awful experience. The communication between the consumer, us, and the company was just unprofessional. They said they would show for an installation date and never did. When we called they said the installation dates are flexible. Well maybe you should people then so they plan their day around you being there. We waited nearly three weeks to be told they needed to contract another company to look at the cables. It's like the other reviewer said, they tell you one thing over the phone but don't follow through. Don't trust this company if you live in the Hiouchi, Smith River, or Crescent City area. read more

Easily the worst internet provider I've ever had. My internet essentially wouldn't function during peak hours. My wife and I just stopped using the internet during those periods because we knew it was a waste of time. I called numerous times and was always told that it was my router or in some other way my fault. I finally moved out of Charter's coverage area and started service with Comcast and lo and behold I don't have the problems I used to. What's really funny is that I travel a lot for work and every city I'm in that has Charter internet has the exact same problem. You know your company is providing a garbage service when it's as widespread as it is. Your internet is so bad I will make sure I never live in your coverage area again. read more

This company is an out and out liar - so BEWARE. I was talking to friends today who commented that they had discontinued their Charter bundle after seeing the company add unexpected fees and line items to their bill after a few months at the advertized price making it far more expensive than stated. The company gave them the run-around when they complained. I'm writing this review BECAUSE THEY DID THE EXACT SAME THING TO ME. They get away with it because too many people are disgusted but keep the service anyway which is what they count on. Can't believe I'm writing the first review - I anticipated a long string of 1 star reviews. Maybe people don't bother cause they have a well-known lousy reputation. Every month I physically walk into Charter Communications to pay my cable bill. I live in a town of 4000 people so we kind of know everyone. This morning I walked into charter communications to pay my internet service bill. The lady asked for my phone number and I gave it to her. she said are you LInda? I replied yes I am. I handed her my debit card which also had the very name she asked. Which also fell under the telephone number I gave her. She asked for my Identification card. Oops, I grabbed the wrong purse, so all I had was my debit card and my keys....well, I can't take a payment from you because you have no ID....wow....let's see, you typed in my phone number and the very name that came upon the computer was also printed on my debit card and you are refusing to accept my payment. Really? ok...I live 3 miles outside of town, but when I come back to town, I will bring back the equipment and discontinue service from this organization. After all I am a loyal paying customer, never late on my bills, and you want to jack me up for not having an ID.......that is how the customers are treated in Crescent City California....ba-bye charter cable... read more

How do you get hold of a real person? Tried to go through every permutation of the menu to speak to a real person about the problem but no way to ask the question I needed answered. The question was " what happened to KEET last night?" We were getting ready to watch "Downton Abbey"'and there is no station.nanda. Nothing. Shows the station listed but nothing came across. This morning there is KEET on the air. So is this a one time event or will there be no Sunday evening programming for now to eternity? But there is no way to contact your local charter cable ( must call their main impersonal number) to get an answer to a local question. If there was an alternative to Charter I would jump at the chance! read more

They arrived on time and the tech, Jeff, was very nice. He did a good job getting our TV, phone and internet working in a reasonable amount of time. The only issue we had was that he left the cable box open on the side of the house with wires sticking out (not a good idea in rainy Oregon), but we took care of that ourselves easily. The call center reps were very nice, also. The original appointment was out over a week, but they called us with an earlier appointment a few days later which was appreciated. We have had the service for 2 months, and had one system-wide TV outage that was quickly resolved, and one internet & phone failure that was resolved by a hard boot of the modem (unplug for a few seconds and plug back in). In both cases, the call center reps were super nice and helpful. The price is great, compared to the alternatives. They have auto-pay available, so that makes payment really effortless, and their website is not too difficult to navigate. read more

They advertise a really good special. You accept it and you think that the special has no expiration, because no one dares to mention that it is 12 months special. Then out of the blue you get a new bill with 25% increase (in one our businesses case it was actually 33% increase). Wi-Fi quality is not as good as they promise. The installer comes in to set it up and the attitude is to get out as soon as possible, so he does a bad job, breaking your fax machine and not even apologizing for it. To find help when something goes wrong you have to wait for hours on the phone as they switch you from one person to another. All around - the experience is not good. But a lot of times they take advantage of being the only company in the area. read more

Appointment was 2 weeks out, arrived at 4 with a 8-12 appointment. Tech was negative about the company and complained the whole time though he'd only been there for 3 months- VERY unprofessional. Even worse, he damaged my tile and wanted to saw through my nice hardwood floor because "he wasn't allowed to have the drill bit for the wall." What a weirdo!
