I had to give a star to be able to post this. Otherwise, I would give them negative stars.
Totally agree with the 12 reviewers here. I wish I did my research before I signed up this horrible company and had to deal with Mishael Logan.
We rented a house from Charta in April 2016. They are impossible to get hold of. When it comes to maintenance, they are extremely rude. We had some light bulbs missing for the fridge, rangehood and in the kitchen. Only one halogen light is working in the kitchen for me to use to cook. Phone calls and emails were never answered. We had to stop paying rent to get a response from them. The response from Mishael after more than five emails on the issue is that they left the light bulbs on the kitchen bench before we moved in, the fridge and rangehood does not need a light bulb to operate, therefore no maintenance issues outstanding. What a joke? Leaving a light bulb and things are working without the light, mean they fixed the problem? The celling is higher than a usual property (about 2.6meters high) and I was 2 month pregnant at the time. They were expecting me to climb up on to the kitchen bench and reach out the halogen light holders to change the light bulbs. Don't get me wrong, if the bulbs were broken while we lived in there, I was happy to change them myself which I did. My point is the bulbs were not working before we moved in, so I do think they had the responsibility to fix them.
We had our in-law's dog over to visit. Somehow Mishael found out. She rung me with all the rude comments and ask me to do a pest control immediately for the entire building. I said we would not be able to do it because I had a two-week old baby living with us and asked her to consider a later day. Her response was "I don't care about your bloody baby". What a cold hearted woman!
After we moved out, I cleaned the entire property myself and did a commercial carpet cleaning. However, we ended up being charged $153 for defrosting the freezer and clean the carpet in the common area. According to Mishael, when every tenant moves out, they need to clean the carpet in the common area. I said I would go back to clean it myself the very day after our tenancy ended. She said I was not allowed to go back because our tenancy had ended and the cleaner had already been in and cleaned without our knowledge.
I think their BAD BAD BAD attitude towards the tenants and treat tenants like shit, is because they never wanted you to stay longer than one year. This is how they make a profit. If they can rent out the property every year, they make letting fee income every year from this property. I feel really sorry for the landlord because Charta has neglected the property and left it in really bad condition. The tenants will never stay long because of Charta's bad attitude. Therefore, the landlord will have to experience vacancies and income loss. I will think twice to use them as property manager. read more
