While our server was very kind and friendly, it took forever to get our drink and food orders taken. The downstairs women's bathroom smelled strongly of old urine - like the kind of urine that is caked into the tile or wood or something for a long time. The butter used for the rolls served before the meal was quite yummy, everyone agreed. Dinner was mid. Four of us ordered the ribeye steak and not a single one of those steaks were cooked to how we ordered. The creme brûlée desert was NOT good. The desert was served with three varieties of creme brûlée and all three were not good. Three of us ordered this desert and none of us could finish it. All creme, no brûlée. No crispy sugar tops and each pudding unexciting or just not good. The lava cake lacked luster and didn't taste as delicious as it had once tasted a decade ago. Went to Chart House for lunch with a party of four on Father's Day, 6-21-2026. The waiter handed a one-page menu with a 3-course meal for $79. When I asked for the other menus, he said that's the only menu they have on that day. What??? Anyway, I ordered clam chowder, halibut for entree, key lime pie for dessert: Clam chowder -- Less than adequate. The soup only took me 4 tablespoons to consume. Entree -- Small piece of halibut on top of rice. The taste quality is subpar. Key lime pie -- Taste good. The only thing I enjoyed on the meal. Overall, food didn't live up to expectations. Service was mediocre. If you're going to pay $79 + tip for this experience, you'd expect a decent meal. It was very disappointing. read more

Chart house is a gem away from the city. We decided to go here when the steakhouse we usually frequented while in town raised their pricing and we thought we would try a new place. We are glad we did! We have now been twice, once for dinner, and once for lunch. We had steak for dinner, which ended up being a great choice. Everything was cooked and seasoned great, including the meatballs we had as an appetizer. We also ordered mixed drinks that were great. When we returned for lunch, we had the diner burger and fish and chips. Both were excellent. It's so nice to have a hand-formed burger at a restaurant that is cooked correctly. We find the service is good, but not excellent. Everybody is friendly, but sometimes it takes longer than expected to be checked on. The view is definitely a bonus, hard to beat. read more

Easter dinner was....interesting. TLDR = Staff A+, ambiance & view A+, Food C- Husband ordered lamb, my mom and I the filet and my dad the New York. Out of the four....only one was a success. The other three came to the table so grey they resembled hockey pucks more than meat. We sent them back but my husband's again came back way over cooked. This time he just choked it down. Everything was absolutely wonderful EXCEPT the steak. It was like it was seared slightly and the inside was almost raw, it was gross, so we took it home and finished cooking it. But the pasta was the best pasta I have had in forever, everyone that tasted it was amazed and they wish they would have gotten it. It was a large portion, full of flavor and so good. The calamari appetizer is a huge serving size, really good but will need extra dipping sauce for sure. Our server, Logan, was awesome. Upon arrival, we appreciated the ample parking--even though the spots were a bit small, it was easy to find a space. I'm so happy Portland Dining Month was back this year! It really encourages you to explore new places or revisit older ones. On the last day of March, we stopped by Chart House for an early dinner. The $55 special closely replicated a standing $59 three-course offering on their regular menu. I opted for clam chowder, lobster and shrimp carbonara, and crème brûlée. While the chowder was thinner than I usually prefer, it had excellent taste. The carbonara was a standout; I plan to come back for the lunch version in the near future. Came here on a recommendation for my birthday weekend and it exceeded our expectations. Our waiter (Austen?) was so great and really made our first time wonderful. We started with espresso martinis, then moved onto mojitos- we got the mango, along with the mojito flight (even came with an extra drink mix flask to have one more round.) Drinks were so good and strong. I ordered the Mahi and B ordered the prime rib and wow, blew it out of the water. We also got sides of mushroom and asparagus, and the garlic mash was amazing too. Had reservations for a birthday on a Saturday night and had a nice table with a good view in the downstairs area. It's very elegant inside and the place seems to accommodate a lot of people. There is a valet service which is nice especially when I was worried about finding a place to park. We were seated near the window which let us see the whole city. Our server was nice and had a great attitude serving us. The restaurant is high end and is pricy, but I felt it was worth the service we received. The shrimp cocktail was great and finished that fast. I wasn't the biggest fan of the lobster bisque, but that's just me not eating a lot of lobster. I had a shellfish linguine which was amazing. I was in Portland for a few days and I ended up going to this chart house twice on this three day trip. Obviously the food is excellent. The service was very nice and the ambience is great since you sit up overlooking the rivers in the city of Portland downtown and from our view, we could see I believe the peak of Mount Whitney and Mount Hood, depending on which direction we looked. On these two particular evenings, I tried the clam chowder, the warm, chopped spinach salad the first night I had the black cod and the second night. I had the filet mignon they were all excellent and I did have a glass of red red wine it was I believe the Cabernet Sauvignon. I would highly recommend this location. read more

The inside of the building is really nice - big windows overlooking the city with trees surrounding the building. We had a table right in the middle. I got a local beer that was tasty. We didn't have plans for Christmas Day this year and decided to go out for a nice dinner! Our reservation options were limited to either 11:15am or 8pm, and since we're early birds, we opted for a festive Christmas lunch. Our server was absolutely fantastic - friendly, attentive, and made our Christmas meal feel special. We started with the bread service, which was a nice touch. For my meal, I chose the lobster bisque, followed by the Chilean Sea Bass with risotto, and finished with the lava cake. The lobster bisque was good, but I later realized that the same flavor profile was present in my sea bass dish. While both were tasty, I would have preferred a bit more variety and perhaps chosen a salad to start instead. My husband enjoyed the clam chowder, followed by the Surf and Turf (filet mignon and grilled shrimp) with mashed potatoes, and he finished with the key lime pie. The Valet is very quick and efficient, the servers have always been extremely on top of service and welcoming, and all six of us at Thanksgiving had a delicious meal, great turkey, and nice vegetarian options. The Thanksgiving Dinner was awesome, never thought of creamed spinach. And the view was stunning. I would say the one place for improvement would have been the desserts. It is without a view but the aesthetic was nice and enjoyable. I ordered a margarita and the halibut with broccolini. My date ordered the filet mignon and mashed potatoes with a side salad. The service was slow which wasn't a big deal as we weren't in a rush. The food however came out lukewarm at best. My fish was overcooked and my broccolini wasn't cooked enough. After dinner I enjoyed a Caged Tiki cocktail and it was very interesting and had an immense depth of flavor. The view from the window side table and the lighting were also lovely. Starting off, Chart House is located on the mountain above downtown Portland, so you get an amazing view as you dine. There is also limited parking and valet is mandatory (you cannot park yourself). I had to let the staff know to get new dishware and the waitress I asked seemed a bit annoyed. However, the rest of the dining experience was fine and our table's waiter was very friendly. We ordered the shrimp, avocado and mango stack to share and tried different soups and salad for appetizers. The shrimp, avocado and mango stack as well as the salad I got were all delicious. The soups were a bit too salty. For mains, we got a NY strip, peach-bourbon glazed shrimp and scallops, and a lobster pasta. I thought everything was delicious and absolutely loved the peach-bourbon glazed shrimp and scallops. We also all got different desserts and thought that they key lime pie and cheesecake were okay. Two of our party of four arrived just in the nick of time to secure a table by the window with a beautiful view of downtown Portland. It had a sugared rim, a lemon slice floating in it and it was just the right amount of tart. Me and Heather perused the happy hour menu while we waited. We were impressed with the variety of options and the reasonable prices. The restaurant sitting on top of the west hill that has a great view of the city and the far away Mt Hood. My friend who is a local, picked this place for dinner. I ordered Yellowfin tuna and Copper River Salmon. The tuna was great, but the pricy salmon ($69) was a little bit off on the flavor. It still tasted good but not matched the price tag. read more
