Our first visit to Chart House for Portland Dining Month was an absolute delight from start to finish. Making a reservation through Open Table was a breeze, and we opted for a Sunday lunch. Upon arrival, we appreciated the ample parking--even though the spots were a bit small, it was easy to find a space. After a short wait at the hostess stand, we were seated by a window with stunning views of the river and the surprise bonus of watching bald eagles soar by. The atmosphere was both relaxed and inviting, setting the tone for a special meal. Our server, Jose, provided excellent service--friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the Portland Dining Month menu. We sampled a variety of dishes, including the Kim chee calamari, firecracker shrimp, prime rib French dip, coconut shrimp, and lobster shrimp carbonara. Each dish arrived quickly and deliciously hot, with generous portions that left us with plenty of leftovers to take home. Dessert was just as impressive; we shared a mini lava cake, creme brulee, and salted caramel cheesecake. Every bite was decadent and satisfying, making it hard to pick a favorite. Overall, everything was delicious, and the experience exceeded our expectations. We left already talking about our next visit. Chart House made our first Portland Dining Month lunch truly memorable, and we can't wait to return!

I'm so happy Portland Dining Month was back this year! It really encourages you to explore new places or revisit older ones. On the last day of March, we stopped by Chart House for an early dinner. The $55 special closely replicated a standing $59 three-course offering on their regular menu. I opted for clam chowder, lobster and shrimp carbonara, and crème brûlée. While the chowder was thinner than I usually prefer, it had excellent taste. The carbonara was a standout; I plan to come back for the lunch version in the near future. Every table in the restaurant has a great view. Parking is by valet only.

Came here during Portland dining month because I had a gift card and was super interested in the variety of menu options they had for 3 course menu. Came here during lunch and the best things I ate were the carbonara and crème brûlée. The clam chowder was watery and the Caesar salad kind of tasted like a salad kit. Still a good deal but probably wouldn't come here without the Portland dining month menu. Staff and service were great! It's lovely seeing the view too so come on a nice day!

Came here on a recommendation for my birthday weekend and it exceeded our expectations. Our waiter (Austen?) was so great and really made our first time wonderful. We started with espresso martinis, then moved onto mojitos- we got the mango, along with the mojito flight (even came with an extra drink mix flask to have one more round.) Drinks were so good and strong. I ordered the Mahi and B ordered the prime rib and wow, blew it out of the water. We also got sides of mushroom and asparagus, and the garlic mash was amazing too. For dessert, we got the lava cake, a side of seasonal ice cream (peanut butter with chocolate), and I was given a little birthday slice- great end to the evening. We were stuffed! We had to order the lava cake dessert ahead of time as it's made to order and takes 30 minutes. Everything was delicious and the view was super pretty as it's up in the hills by OHSU looking down on the river.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a celebratory dinner a couple weeks ago. It was beautiful! Made a reservation and got seated right on the window with a view, though it was dark out, it was still nice. Great ambiance and complimentary valet! Food was also excellent. Mussels to start, drinks, miso glazed salmon for me and prime rib for him. The combo special came with a starter as well and a chocolate lava cake for each of us! All that for $59 each. Not a bad deal.

It's a great place for a formal dinner, like for work events or celebrations. It's best known for its great view along the mountain top looking down towards the city and river. Food and drinks are delicious. Environment and staff is that of an upscale restaurant. Parking is valet only because of their small lot, so remember to bring a few bucks (cause many of us to carry cash anymore) to tip afterwards.

Happy hour at the Chart House. Get there on the early end to be sure to be seated. The menu is not huge but everything is a good value. We especially enjoyed the coconut shrimp and sliders. Even though HH is only available in the bar downstairs, the view is still spectacular!

Service was great, ambiance is very romantic, food was tasty, prices are spendy, but all is worth it. The chocolate brownie is a MUST. Presentation on all levels is on point. Valet parking, they are very good at what they do!

Good food, views and service. Car parking is valet (free of cost). Coming to food, we had the prime rib, kim chi calamari, shrimp linguini, meatball on ricotto cheese and molten lava cake. $58 - 3 course meal is well worth it. We got the seating near the windows and the views were stunning. Chart house is a good option for birthday, date night or anniversary dinner.

I had a great time at Chart House celebrating my two year anniversary. It was a pretty scenic and nice drive near OHSU. There is a valet service which is nice especially when I was worried about finding a place to park. We were seated near the window which let us see the whole city. Our server was nice and had a great attitude serving us. The restaurant is high end and is pricy, but I felt it was worth the service we received. The shrimp cocktail was great and finished that fast. I wasn't the biggest fan of the lobster bisque, but that's just me not eating a lot of lobster. I had a shellfish linguine which was amazing. Chart House is worth visiting!

First time here and I would love to come back! We had a party of 18 and everyone was so gracious and polite. We didn't experience any waits notneven for seating since we had reservations. Drinks were quickly and delicious. Our server Jason wasn't only knowledgeable but also funny and I appreciated his humor!! I ordered stuffed shrimp and the wife ordered one of her favorites, Prime Rib!!! Tender and flavorful.. I don't drink I order a non alcoholic mocktail and it was fantastic. Blood-Orange Sage!!

Stunning views of the city of Portland, delicious dinner, and excellent service. I came here with my family to celebrate my mom the day before Mother's Day. It was a Saturday evening and I was surprised that it was not too crowded. Our server did confirm that the restaurant was expected to be extremely busy the following day for Mother's Day. I loved that they seated my family of four at a window table. The Portland city views are absolutely beautiful! I recommend the following items: Whipped Riccota + Meatballs: we started off with these delicious meatballs. We chose the beef option and were pleased with our choice. The meatballs are warm and savory! Filet mignon: I asked for a medium rare filet and it was cooked to perfection, just as I requested. The meat was tender, juicy, and it was a truly melt-in-your-mouth experience. It comes with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, which is a nice pair. To complement my protein, I added Asian Green Beans and Sizzling Mushrooms and shared these with my family. Both the green beans and the mushrooms were an excellent choice. Hot Chocolate Lava Cake: chocolate lovers, don't miss this delicious treat! If you know you'll order dessert at the end, be sure to let your server know when you order your main dish, as this specific dessert takes about 30 minutes to prepare. The combination with the cake, the chocolate sauce, and the vanilla ice cream is truly rich and delicious!! Be sure to make a reservation for the Chart House for your next special occasion!

I was in Portland for a few days and I ended up going to this chart house twice on this three day trip. Obviously the food is excellent. The service was very nice and the ambience is great since you sit up overlooking the rivers in the city of Portland downtown and from our view, we could see I believe the peak of Mount Whitney and Mount Hood, depending on which direction we looked. On these two particular evenings, I tried the clam chowder, the warm, chopped spinach salad the first night I had the black cod and the second night. I had the filet mignon they were all excellent and I did have a glass of red red wine it was I believe the Cabernet Sauvignon. I would highly recommend this location.

As of right now, it sits at number one for my dad and a few of my friends alike. For me? I'm not ready to crown it just yet. I need a few more visits, a few more comparisons against my usual haunts. But it's up there. No question. When I first moved to Portland almost a year ago, this was one of the spots that kept coming up. Highly recommended, spoken about with a kind of confidence that usually means it's either overhyped or the real deal. We went for Mother's Day. Then again for Father's Day. My parents loved it -- the kind of love that doesn't need explanation -- and honestly, I get it. The service is immaculate. Thoughtful, attentive, but never hovering. You feel taken care of in a way that's increasingly rare -- like the front of house actually wants you to have a good time, not just turn the table. There's a real sense of pride in what they're doing. The team feels aligned, almost symbiotic. Front of house lifting up back of house, back of house delivering in a way that makes that support feel earned. Whether that relationship is perfect behind the scenes or not, it reads as seamless from the outside. And the food -- it's just excellent. Cooked perfectly, consistently, without unnecessary theatrics. No foams, no gels, no overworked plating trying to prove something. Just honest, confident cooking over fire. The kind of food that reminds you how good simple things can be when they're done right. It's indulgent in the best way. The kind of meal that might even tempt a few vegans back to the dark side -- at least for a night. It's not cheap. Let's be clear about that. I don't go here casually, and I'm not pretending I do. Thanks, Mom and Dad. But it's the kind of place that's worth saving up for -- not just for the food, but for the experience. For some people, this might be a random Wednesday night. For most of us, it's something you plan for. And when you do, it delivers. It's special without making a big deal about being special. And that's exactly why it works.

One of my biggest concerns was dining with dairy-free and gluten-free restrictions. I asked whether there was anything on the menu that could accommodate both without substitutions, because with higher-end dishes, removing key components often leaves you with a plate that feels incomplete and not as thoughtfully prepared as intended. I was told that essentially every item on the menu contained one or the other, or both, which was frustrating and made it very difficult to order comfortably. Unfortunately, the service issues started before we were even seated. When we arrived, the hostess initially ignored us and had us walking around trying to figure out where to go for help, only for us to end up back where we started. When she finally acknowledged us, she rudely told us to stand against the wall until she was ready. It set an unwelcoming tone right away. Our server was also very cold and unfriendly throughout the meal. When I pulled out my chair to sit down, I found a bunch of crumbs on it that I had to clean off myself, right in front of the server. The plate already set in front of my seat, with the napkin on it, also had crumbs on it, which made the table setting feel careless and unclean from the start. Then when our wine arrived, the service got even sloppier. On the second pour, after originally pouring us each the correct wine, our server mixed up the bottles and topped off our glasses with each other's wine. It was a noticeable mistake and frustrating because the wines were already in our glasses and then ended up mixed together. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, I expected much better hospitality, cleanliness, and attention to detail. The view is lovely, but unfortunately the overall experience did not live up to the standard the restaurant presents.

While we waited for her, we ran out of water a few times and I had to ask for more. It was over an hour before our order was even taken. We did flag her down to order an appetizer, brussel sprouts with cheese on the side due to a dairy allergy, but... the sprouts came out with cheese on them. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.
