Service was attentive; although our waitress did not speak English. We made it work with my mangled "Spanglish" and finger pointing. This was the first restaurant in Columbus where I had Burrea tacos. I have since experienced great birrea and not so fantastic burrea around town. Tonight, I had Kiki's quesadilla burria with consume. There was a spoonful of pico, lettuce and sour cream on the side but that was it. No beans, no rice. And no chips and salsa. Maybe that was on the menu, but we missed it. The beef was incredibly flavorful loaded with beef, cilantro and onions! Still one of the best! But the consume, while flavorful, was only broth. Two bottles of sauce were delivered to the table; green and red. The green was tomatollo based and mild. We didn't try the red sauce. Hubs had chicken chimichunga smothered in queso and served with rice and beans. Of course my husband ask them to hold the rice and double the beans. The whole beans were topped with shredded cheese. The beans were flavorful Both items were definitely items we would order again. Definately add this to your collection and make this a must on your restaurant list! read more

Impressed! I stopped by Charritos today for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I ordered a carne asada, a side of black beans, and a side of rice (not pictured). They were all really delicious and came out almost immediately. The guacamole and salsa was fresh and pretty tasty although they it wasn't anything to write home about. I sat outside on the patio and I must say it was lovely. There aren't many tables and chairs out there but it shouldn't be too big of an issue if you're wanting to get some sun. It looked like a very casual place and the inside was nice as well. The service was pretty good and they were very kind. Our first waitress didn't speak much English (which isn't a problem) so she had to bring in her coworker. Even though that was a bit difficult communication wise they were still very helpful and polite. Just because this occurred I'll still visit in the future and it didn't cause any problems. Overall, my trip to Charritos was very pleasant. The food was very good as well as the people working there. I would have given them a five star rating but the chips were a bit salty for my liking. I'm told the cheese quesadilla was OK but nothing special. I did have trouble ordering a cheese quesadilla since it wasn't technically on the menu. I asked for their chicken quesadilla without the chicken, we went back and forth on the phone for a while. The pork tacos, however, we're phenomenal. The food here is super fresh, authentic, and comes out fast. Our chips were still warm when they got to the table. The vegetable fajitas were delicious, not sure what they put on them, but they were the best I've had. The chicken tacos were a little dry, but that was quickly fixed with the sauces and salsas they bring out for you food. It was a little confusing when we walked in what we were supposed to do, but after a few minutes of standing there looking confused, someone came and took us to a table. Amazing Mexican restaurant, the best I've experienced in Columbus. I had the Chile Rellanos and they were fantastic. I chose the chicken and cheese option and the chicken was exceptional. Black beans and rice on the side were perfect. My three dinner companions loved their dinners. One had the chicken with mole sauce, and you could drink that sauce, it was so tasty. Great chips, salsa, and guacamole, and the sauces that are brought to your table are unbelievable. Good selection of Jarritos bottled beverages, and my son had an iced milk-cinnamon drink that was delightful. Great service, cute ambiance, not a huge place, so we went at 5:30 expecting a crowd and it was getting (deservedly) busy when we were leaving. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN AFTER THE WAY I WAS TREATED TODAY AFTER THEIR MISTAKE. Now that I've gotten that out the way let me tell you why... this is only my second time having this place. I wasn't impressed the first time due to lackluster taste and small portion ratio to price but my daughter suggested we give them another chance today. I was reluctant as there are plenty of other restaurants you can patronize for the price; nevertheless here I am writing a shitty review. I ordered the cali burrito, birria taco and two hamburger kids meals. One of the kids meals I requested cheese be added and the other one plain. Simple right? Well apparently not. After arriving before the estimated online time with NO ONE IN THE LOBBY dining in, the phones weren't ringing off the hook they still managed to exceed the pick up time (STRIKE ONE). I get home and after checking each meal, I immediately notice the kids meals were incorrect (STRIKE TWO). Both burgers had cheese and I would've shrugged it off IF my son was content with it but that wasn't the case. So I call and a young lady picks up the phone, I explain my issue and she tells me to hold. She speaks Spanish to someone else whom ends up taking the call... I then tell him (I believe it's the man that wears glasses) what's wrong. I could hardly understand his broken English but he doesn't even apologize and says bring the other one and we'll make you a new one. ODD to say the least being that I took photos of their mishap. I ask how long he said about 8 minutes... Well as I'm indulging in my terrible tasting meal (STRIKE 3), telling my partner how I should've followed my first mind and ordered Tropical Smoothie cafe instead ; about 8 minutes pass and I realize it's time for me to go. I leave home (need I remind you gas is outrageous) and commute back to the restaurant. When I arrive I notice the order still isn't fully prepared but within a couple of minutes the same gentleman (wearing a striped shirt, dark hair, blue jeans and glasses) brings me my bag. I ask if that the remake. He responds "Did you bring the other order?" I said "No but let me show you the photos." I proceed to show him and tell him I can show my order receipt also. He acts disinterested and says "I asked you to bring the other order." I respond with "Well I forgot and I have pict----." He cuts me off and sets order down and says "Have a good day." Then just walks away... (MORE THAN 3 STRIKES AT THIS POINT... YOU'RE OUT) His coworker starts speaking Spanish to him (while looking at me) and his staff is staring at me instead of making the other orders and then I say... "Excuse me, you're the one that inconvenienced me. Gas is high as hell and it's not like I'm not lying. I didn't want to come back here for this!" Then I leave their restaurant. I'm pissed and say to myself, I'll never spend another red cent and patronize them again. I don't have to lie for a weak a** kids meal and then call my partner to tell him what happened. Oh and to add insult to injury I get home and give my son his bagged order and while I'm pre occupied doing something else, my son sends the last picture. They used hot dog buns or something for his order. I'm not sure if that was intentional or done by mistake (AGAIN) but they'll NEVER have to worry about me spending money or stepping foot in their establishment. I hope their business tanks tbh. I also see why they have a 4.2 review out of 5(on Google). Poor customer service, shady practices and being treated as though I'd lie over their mistake. Spend your $$$ elsewhere. Hell- Cucos and Los Guachos are better options compared to this place. But my all time favorite Mexican place here in Columbus so far is Don Tequila Mexican Grill (Dublin location). I absolutely adore Mexican, Mexican-American, Mex-fusion food. This got three stars as opposed to a four or five for the following reasons: I ordered the kids Birria Tacos for my kiddo -- who is an enthusiatic and budding foodie -- the meat cuts were not adjusted for a kid, nor was the taco which came with cheese and is stylized more like a quesadilla for dipping in soup, was not child size and was a full sized burrito tortilla folded (it would've been great for me , for a frustrated and hangry 1-4 year old, not quite). The delivery/ to-go packing was just downright ugly and saddening. One lone napkin. No additional sauces. No forks, no knives, no spoons. What if I wanted to spoon up to the birria soup eh? The Birria tacos were slightly redeeming for the meh packing and lack of other care; good flavor. The lengua tacos I got myself , were nice considering how hard tongue is to get from the stores lately, and that so few taco trucks or brick & mortar "Mexican" places don't have it (so huge kudos to genuine cultural foods)...but I could tell it wasn't fresh fresh if that makes sense. If you ever cook tongue at home you know. Slightly under seasoned too but still enjoyable and a comparable unit price and serving size to others serving lengua. On a whim one Friday evening, my wife and I decided to try Charritos. We had never been there, and a desire for some local Mexican coupled with its proximity to home made the choice easy. We arrived around 6:15 and found that there were probably six or seven other customers inside. All the servers were masked, and the booths have high walls between them, so we had no problem staying. I changed my habit of ordering a martini and had a Negra Modelo instead, and my wife had a raspberry margarita. She says that it was much sweeter than she had expected and likely wouldn't order it again. I had the tri-enchilada plate, and she had the enchiladas oaxaqueñas. Both were quite tasty, and they came out very quickly. I was surprised how quickly the food arrived, but that meant we could get home in time to see the second half of Jeopardy! I wouldn't say this was the best Mexican food I've had in Columbus, but I have nothing to complain about. The servers were very nice, and, as I said, the service was quick. The interior is like many Mexican restaurants, with their array of decor reminiscent of Southern Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or Northern Mexico. It's somewhat small inside given that it's in a strip mall next to other restaurants and stores. If you like Tex-Mex or Mexican food and have never been to Charritos, give them a try. If I have a hankering for it again, I'll be back. read more

One of my favorite places to get tacos in Columbus ! On Tuesday's they have buy 3, get 1 free for the "Kike's tacos". I've tried their birria, chicken, steak, and chorizo tacos. Along with a couple other appetizers and even some desserts and they were all good. The Kike's tacos come loaded and it comes with a soup to dip the tacos in (that's what drew me here and I've loved it ever since). Everything is also made to order so it's always fresh! 3 of us went here on Fri. night at 8p. The place was pretty busy, but we were able to get a table. EVERYTHING was homemade. The chips, salsa, dishes...everything. The food was okay, not the greatest I've ever had though. I had Milanesa Ala Mexican, & it was really just okay. The chicken breasts were INCREDIBLY thin. I mean, really. We didn't have any silverware at the table, so when we asked for some, the waitress brought me a set of plastic service ware. Plastic fork and knife. The service was a little so-so. First time here and it was slow. You seat yourself at this time, not sure if it is always this way. Masks are required and worn by staff. Margaritas were awesome, think they were the house maggies. I ordered the Queso fundido with chorizo which was not cheap! What I got was a small container of plain old orange cheese. Nothing added in, EXCEPT there was a toothpick at the bottom!! I love Queso and I am always trying it at Mexican restaurants, and this was honestly probably one of the worst. Tasted like watered down nacho cheese sauce. Would not recommend. On the other hand, I ordered Kike's taco which are Birria/beef tacos with a dipping soup. I guess when ordering online I didn't realize it was priced per taco, so I only got one. Super Delicioso!!!! Ordered via UberEats tonight and couldn't have been happier. The dude ordered grouper tacos x 3 and inhaled them! I ordered the Veggie burrito which was filled with zucchini, beans, corn and rice. I love when the veggies are diverse. So yummy! It's a small restaurant but it feels very comfy to eat there with family or friends.. The taco shell was mid needs flavor the shrimps were plain /: the pozole was yummy with cilantro and chopped onions. I just want to update to say that I have never had anything that wasn't incredibly delicious here. Last night, there was a carnitas in green chile sauce as a special- of course I got the special. It was phenomenal (so was my al pastor taco I could not resist ordering)! My partner's milanesa torta was (multi-meal) massive and quite delicious. (If she had left the table I probably would have began eating her 'I'm saving this' half). If there is a special get it. Be it posole, albondigas, goat barbacoa, tamales, or menudo on the weekends. You won't be sad (unless you were wanting Ohio-an 'not quite Mexican, Mexican). I love the tomatillo based green salsa that's brought with the chipotle (that's what I taste) salsa to the table just before food is served. Seriously. I've consumed over a quarter (pushing on a half) of that squeeze bottle in one meal. I feel like the drink options are expanding too! Aguas frescas (cucumber and the melon are YUM-tastic) and horchata (yet to have) and a few more bottles of sodas. Still hungry at the end of your meal? Order more tacos! Or get a churro! I have had them a few times and they have always been hot, fresh, and delicious. (I even ate one last night even though we were headed to Diamond's for ice cream). Also go for breakfast people! Darn good Mexican food in the Upper Arlington / Clintonville area. I had the Cubacharrito torta and it was the best torta I have had in a long time. This torta is kinda like the garbage disposal of tortas. It has Mexican pork sausage, Milanesa, chicken, salchicha, egg, and ham. It easily feeds 2 people if you split an appetizer. It had great flavor, it was HUGE, and exceeded every expectation. I went with a couple of friends and everything on the table was a hit. I've only been here once so I can't speak to a wide variety of items on the menu, but what I've tried was mighty tasty. I will echo what other's have said, this place would be a 5 star hit if I could order a draft Modelo Especial with my dinner. An ice cold beer and tacos go so well together.
