Great little hipster French restaurant in the heart of the city. Tasty lighter fare, including breakfast served all day. They feature an assortment of French bread and pastries, with a variety of spreads served at your table. There are multiple levels, including a fairly large bottom level. You may need to wave down the wait staff, but it is a worthwhile experience. Moderate prices.

Good coffee, great pastries, stellar ambience... This is a bit of a "catch of all trades" kinda place - coffee, munchies, wines, and whatnot. It's basically the equivalent of an Italian "Bar", and is a pretty good one at that. The draw is the pastries - all their baked goods tend to be very very very good, and that makes your morning coffee worth it. (FWIW, this is a bit of a default morning place for me in Krakow)

From the moment you walk into Charlotte, it feels like a dream. From the smells to the overall ambience of the restaurant, it makes you wish you had come here sooner. I just stopped in for dessert but tried the creme brûlée, lemon tart, and Madeline. All three were overall great. The creme brûlée was perfectly made but not much different from one you'd get elsewhere. The Madeline should definitely be ordered alongside coffee, but was good. The lemon tart though? Out of this world. It was the perfect balance between sweet and tart. I can't recommend it enough for anyone who likes lemon. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it.

Such a cute place nestled not too far from old town Krakow. They are very smart for being one of the first places open in the morning and one of the last places to close at light. For this reason, we came back here over and over! There are two floors, and lots of seating. The ambience is frenchy, we felt like we were in France for some reason. Their food was delicious and they have a good variety weather you are there for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late snack. The staff were always friendly. A huge plus is that they speak English very well! Sometimes we forgot we were outside of the US! If you are in Krakow, definitely go check out this place! And definitely try all their spreads that come with the bread basket!! Our favorites were the whites chocolate and raspberry. But the orange and milk chocolate were very good as well!

Rustic, simple interior with multiple servers serving meals quickly. AMBIANCE: 3.0. Upscale cafeteria. Outdoor seating available. SERVICE: 3.5. Fast and efficient. Staff of thin young people (university students?) constantly moving fast across the floor, and up and down the stairs. FOOD: 4.0 - French omelette with goat cheese: 5.0. - granola with yogurt: 3.5. Additional and varied fresh fruit would help. - croissant and pain au chocolat: 4.5. - coffee (Americano): 3.0

This place is charming , good vibes. There there's multiple different options from sandwiches to patisserie. Everything I ate was really good the almonds croissant was amazing :)

Must visit when you're there. Don't be afraid of the long line because it moves rather quickly. Wait time for patio seatings will take longer (who doesn't want to look out at the square!) Get the bread basket so you can try their wonderful home made spreads. I didn't know you can pick your own (up to three jars) so they gave us whatever jars were available. Luckily our neighbors were leaving so we took theirs too! The honey is a must - lavender infused. They are also available for purchase. Order as many as you can and sample them all since the croquettes are bite sized. We loved every bite - fresh ingredients with great presentation.

This is the best cafe I have ever been to hands down, such a great way to start a trip to Krakow. The prices are incredible and the food is even better. I had the Charle Breakfast for under $7 and it came with a bread basket, tea, sparkling wine, and an egg. The bread basket was served with a delicious selection of fruit and chocolate spreads. The bread was fresh and the croissants buttery and flaky. The sparkling wine was crisp and not too sweet. The cafe has plenty of sitting room with a cute upstairs balcony. I highly recommend Charlottes to anyone looking for a great breakfast, snack, or pastry. I will be back for sure!

Very good food! Can be busy on weekends but a nice spot to relax and enjoy with friends!!

I came here because it was recommended by a friend. They are probably the best bakery in town. Their croissants are crispy and the spreads are to die for. Please do try the chocolate spread. It is not as sickly sweet as Nutella! Their jams and preserves give a great balance as well. Now... we are going to talk about some cons. I came beee twice because I just want to make sure that it was not just a random coincidence. This is a bakery with full service. I was sitting inside at the main hall, and served by the same guy. It literally took us 10-15 mins to get greeted (I actually needed to flag him down). The table of four next to me got completely ignored for 20 mins and left. I know it is not that guy's fault, and they may need more staff. If you have ample time, please come here because their bread is to die for. However, if you are in a rush or you are the kind of person who is too afraid to flag a server down, don't bother... go to Milkbar Tomask instead:)

Oh Charlotte, where do I start..... You're a delight to visit. Every time. Weekend or weekday, summer or winter! As long as those sandwiches, chocolate spreads and pots of french breakfast tea are on offer I will come back to indulge in your fine nibbles until my wallet surrenders and I have to spend the rest of my precious student loan on canned soup.... But in all seriousness, I always enjoy coming to Charlotte! Even during the busy brunch-time on the weekends when the place is crammed with people: -men with hats reading newspapers -children who run around and their impatient parents trying to feed them their breakfast -trendy chaps with earphones connected to their iPads but disconnected from the rest of us slowly sipping on modest cups of espresso -groups of people on a row of tables raising their champagne glasses in the spirit of celebration ...and then there's me; either alone working my way through a textbook chapter or taking a break from said book with some company. The classic breakfast (bread basket)is a guilty pleasure of mine, with the white chocolate, raspberry spread and lavender honey being my favourites to go with it. The French omelette I am not as big of a fan of because is a little runny, but the open- and toasted sandwiches are nice lunch options (mind you I have never tried the croque madame that everyone seems to go on about...). If it was not for the horrendous price I would also get the fresh orange juice with every breakfast, but I am fearing it might break the bank one day sooooo...I feel that certain limitations has to be set long before thinking of crossing Charlotte's doorsill! Nevertheless, you're high on the list of Cracovian places I cherish, Charlotte, just thought you should know.

Charlote is vested on Plac Szczepański in the North West of Krakow, approx 5 min walk from the Rynek main square. Plac Szczepanski has been renovated over the past few years and attracted several small nice restaurants.. Charlotte is a small "bistro" and serves croissants, tartines, sandwiches, and salads for example. All food is fresh and tasty. Great to have a breakfast with Charlotte. She has lots of fans so hard to meet her sometimes :).

The most fantastic French breakfast place located in Krakow just off the Main Square. It's a cute place with wooden tables, encouraging communal seating and adorned with fresh flowers. Probably the best item on the menu to take advantage of their own freshly baked breads and amazing homemade jams is the Charlotte's Breakfast that consists of a basket assortment of bread slices (plus a very tasty croissant) and a choice of one of those spreads. The spread choices include: dark chocolate, white chocolate, raspberry, lavender honey and others. There's also an option to add an egg for an extra 3zl. If you're indecisive about which of the beloved spreads to get, one of the best things to do is to go in a group and have a majority order the Charlotte Breakfast and then there will be several of the jams to mix and match. Their coffee is delicious and the other items on the menu - croque monsieur and tartines - also look amazing. One star detracted for the pastries in the front...with many bees hovering over them. The experience and food are still amazing, I just wish they would take care of those pesky bees.

I decided to have one cheese raviolo with chanterelles mushrooms and butter. Also, I chose snails with fava beans, orzo pasta, hollandaise sauce and fresh dill :). Honestly, both dishes were very tiny, heavy on butter, and were also pretty bland. I enjoyed the raviolo, but the mushrooms needed more salt at least. The snails had only texture, no taste. They skimped on pasta, but not on butter or sauce. If I didn't have a beer, I would leave the restaurant hungry. Surprisingly, I wasn't offered or suggested to order any bread or baguette with my food, and they didn't give any with the meal. It would add some balance and texture, plus it's a cheap way to make people feel happy. I thought the zabaione was too sweet, but I enjoyed it the most anyway. I also don't understand why they were making such a big deal about having reservations. I wanted to grab lunch the day before, but only tables downstairs in the empty basement were offered. The restaurant actually wasn't busy at the moment, and I could even sit at the bar with no problem. I came back the next day and the first floor had only three tables occupied during my whole visit, including mine. My server was polite, and the place was cute. I liked the solid and heavy silverware, but wished my food was tastier and the chef more thoughtful.

I went there with a girlfriend for a ladies' dinner, we were the only (and then the only but one other table) guest in the restaurant and, as we had sth to celebrate, ordered for 4 times as much as you usually spend on a good dinner in Krakow. We were served by 3 waiters, one nice, one stiff and one not attentive. My glass was taken away before I finished my champagne, my cutlery as well although I still needed it, we waited an eternity to ask to the bill, another eternity to get the bill and one more to pay and to find someone who knew where our coats were put away. But the worst of all was the impression that the service guys find us two, with our chats and laughter "inappropriate" for this "noble" place. And after all we are two quite polite and well mannered girls, who do visit expensive restaurants from time to time... and a really noble restaurant feels different (e.g. you can have fun there :)) Thus, the next time I have some money to spend on eating-out in Krakow, I will do it in some other place, a place where I can ENJOY it.

I asked for both the menus and a Mohito. The guy who served me was French and really good value. He talked me through both menus explaining each dish and making recommendations, and when he couldn't remember the English word for something he got one of the waitresses involved. I decided it was only fair to try something from both cuisines so settled on escargot for entree and duck with mushroom sauce for the main. I also made enquiries about the cheese plate just in case I was still hungry (a distinct possibility). The courtyard is shady and quiet and big enough for 10 tables My table is next to a little lion-head fountain set into the wall which is gurgling happily behind me. They were playing French music on the PA. I asked one of the waitresses what it was and she said: "It's French music". Reasonable answer to to a badly phrased question I suppose. The escargot was exactly what I expected. It's hard to screw up snails and they didn't; nice and chewy with a mild garlic butter and some fresh slices of baguette on the side. I asked my French friend to recommend a wine to go with the duck and he suggested a 2011 Bergerac Le Mounant which he told me comes from around Toulouse. They usually only sell this by the bottle, but he offered to do me a glass. The duck was very good. They'd baked it so the skin was quite crispy but the meat was still soft and succulent, and the mushroom sauce suited it really well. There was also a smear of sweet strawberry balsamic sauce on the plate which added an additional flavour to the dish. I ordered a side of potato purée which was a little dry, but nothing a couple of pats of butter couldn't fix. I really wasn't hungry anymore but they had cheese. Impossible to say no to cheese, so of course I said yes. I asked for another wine recommendation and was steered towards another Cotes de Bergerac; the 2010 Lacour-Peyrade. They normally serve their cheese with grapes but I asked them to replace these with fresh red onion. No problem! The cheese plate was the biggest I've ever seen and included Camembert, Brie, Gorgonzola and a soft goat's milk cheese. I really enjoyed Kokoriko/The Black Duck. The food's good, the surroundings are lovely and the staff very friendly and accommodating.
