As a note, I am visiting during the Christmas Market on a Sunday evening so all of Old Town is clamoring with people. This is a cozy coffee shop with a hipster vibe. They have 3 levels of limited seating but it's seat yourself so you may be waiting for a table if it's busy. Hop in line and order from the counter. I had to get the hot chocolate because it's the thick kind you can only find in Europe. It went down like a dessert - you almost have to chew it. It's really good, if you like that type of chocolate. The service is excellent - I was helped by a young lady who was very personable. I asked if they took cash but I didn't have the exact amount and they didn't have enough to make change so I paid by card instead. Seems to be the more popular payment type anyway. Make time to stop by during your visit to Old Town - it's worth it! read more

I love this place. It's very cosy and charming. No loud music (come to think of I am not sure if there was music at all, but I guess there was, just not too loud) so guests don't need to yell at each other to have a conversation. BTW. I have noticed that many cafes and pubs of Krakow have this approach - which is great - that the background music is rather quiet. after all pub/cafe/restaurant guests come to have a meal/drink and to talk, not to listen to music. I have many wonderful memories from this cafe - meetings with friends for a drink and a chat throughout many years. the place is beautifully decorated and has a unique atmosphere. a very interesting interior, with a mezzanine along two walls in the main room. the mezzanine seating is ideal for a more private conversation or a date ;) even though alcohol is being served there, I haven't noticed any disruptive behaviour. the floor plan of the place (a few connected smallish rooms instead of a large one) prevents bigger groups or (heaven forbid) infamous bachelor parties from frequenting. Although this year I have visited this place on a weeknight so I can't speak for weekends... Altogether I really recommend this place. it is totally unpretentious and is really impressive for those who like antique furniture and decorations, without even trying. There is self service, so don't wait for somebody to take your order - you need to go to the bar to place it. but the staff will clear the tables of course. The cafe has a few connected rooms on the main level, the mezzanine and a medium size room on the second floor (it might be hard to find it) with its own bar, and a beautiful view from the window. read more

Been in this bar quite a few times and it is a lovely relaxing place. They have a decent selection and I've had desert there which was lovely. I enjoy their Cherry vodka and the G&Ts are good. Just a really chilled place with old wooden tables etc. Recommend for a nice drink just of the square which isn't got to have drunk stag parties in it :) read more

On our final day in Kraków I got it into my head that I would not rest until I had a hot chocolate. A really thick, rich, strong hot chocolate, the kind that you never seem to get in the UK. The power of Yelp led me to this place and I was very happy indeed. Quick heads up if you're a bit of a bumbling idiot like me: there's a door that isn't actually a door, and the actual door is up a few steps to the right. Don't be like me and stand fruitlessly rattling the handle for ages. You can get numerous things here other than hot chocolate such as (hot) wine, beer, tea, coffee, breakfasts, salads. But all we were there for was the hot chocolate, so we got down to business with a Baileys hot chocolate each. This needed some serious stirring to stop it curdling into two distinct elements but was worth the effort. It was so good: rich, thick and creamy with a very healthy serving of Baileys. It was the kind of drink that warms you up from the inside out. As you only get a fairly small amount you don't have to worry about it being too sickly either. I would definitely recommend for a hot chocolate fix to warm you up! read more

I simply adore this establishment. My favourite spot is on the top level where I can both overlook the action happening downstairs and easily turn around to mind my own business while sipping on my cup of tea. Weirdly enough I cannot remember who introduced me to Nowa Prowincja, but to whoever that was I am now eternally grateful! Whenever someone visits me in Krakow and we need to take a break from walking around in the old town I take them here and feed them the hot chocolate which I say will be the best they've ever had. ..and so far nobody has objected. Rather there's usually the bitter comment about "never being able to taste anything like it again" upon our departure; to which I respond with evil laughter followed by "you'll have to visit again, then" :) read more

Hopefully the owner will actually remodel the bathroom one of these days so it doesn't smell like sewage. Great location, not directly in the main square but situated on a quieter side street which is perfect, in my opinion. Outside they have a few small tables but there's plenty of space inside with two large rooms to choose from and some additional loft type seating overhead. Overall, this place has a cool, wooden, rustic feel with retro knick knacks sprinkled around the entire place. Wide variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages - including a divine looking iced coffee. Seems like it would be a good place to study during the day. read more

The outlook of this cafe might seem as nothing special, but inside you can find pretty good cafe with good coffee (coffee machine is okey so coffee can be approved even by italians). Self service does not make you wait hours for bill or order and personal is pretty polite. read more

The food was okay (I had vegetable quiche) as was the hot chocolate (I had mine with hazelnut liquer) though it was a little too sweet for me, something I don't often say. Hot Chocolate is different in Poland than it is to f.e. Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium or England. It is so thick that your spoon can keep an upright position in the cup just by the density of the drink. It is the same time incredibly sweet and distinctively bitter. After you've sipped away such a hot chocolade your tongue sticks in your mouth, but the belly feels like filled with instant happiness. And Nowa Prowincja serves such a perfect hot chocolate. We were there with a small group of three women and one man which makes three hot chocolates and one beer. The man in our group recognized that there are more young women in the bar/café than usual in Poland at nighttime. From a glance at the other guests we guessed that Nowa Prowincja is rather a bar/café you would frequent with girl friends or you would check in after you've attended a vernissage or a theater play. Next time we're in Krakow we will visit it again in the night time if we're not really in the mood for heavy drinking or during tea time.
