Bayfront Park has parking, a paved walkway, water fountains, and benches. There is also a historical marker that relates the history of how the 1870's settlement of Biscayne became the Miami Shores of today. The best feature of the park is the scenic view of Biscayne Bay, a diverse marine ecosystem that is home to two state aquatic preserves, an environmentally important wildlife area, a national park, and national marine sanctuary. Biscayne Bay is a highly productive subtropical estuary fueled by large volumes of freshwater from the Everglades. This clean freshwater mixes with ocean water creating low salinities on the western side of the bay which promotes growth of mangroves, oysters and seagrass beds. During my visit kids were fishing from the walkway, someone was reading a book, and other people were walking their dog. This park is known as a great place to catch a sunset or watch the moon rise. For a few moments you can sit on a bench and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life as you indulge in relaxation and peaceful reflection.

Lehman was a used-car salesman, teacher, and school board chairman. He is most remembered for his political career where he oversaw transportation issues in the U.S. for 10 years as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee's subcommittee where he oversaw highways, seaports, and mass-transit systems. He was a champion of civil rights and transportation. William Lehman Elementary School in Miami, Florida, and the William Lehman Causeway are also named after him. William Leman Park was dedicated on February 5, 1984. Park amenities include a dog park, fishing pier with wash stations, a tiki hut with picnic tables, benches, and outdoor exercise equipment. While many people come here to fish I enjoyed walking the boardwalk and taking in the views of the intracoastal and Miami Beach. Whether taking the pups to play, working out, fishing, or just taking in the view, North Shore William Lehman Park is a fun park to explore and enjoy the North Bayshore coastal community.

The park is located across from Village Hall the site of another floral installation. While the arch is impressive the rest of the park is equally as beautiful. On May 15, 2018, the Council approved the Waterfront Park site plan concept for development. The park celebrated its grand opening on January 14, 2024. At only 1.5 acres the park was designed to maximize use of the space. Waterfront Park has open lawn areas for play, strolling , exercise zones, and a Mother Earth Cycle of Life themed playground designed by award-winning Danish firm, Monstrum. There is also a splash pad and new Community Center with multi-purpose event spaces, indoor toddler playground, and the administrative offices for the Recreation, Arts and Culture department. My favorite part of the park is the sun deck overlooking Indian Creek. There are lounge chairs set up for relaxation and meditation. A third-floor landscaped and covered roof deck also gives a great view of the water and city. The Village website has information on programs and events in the park and at the community center. You have until March 8 to catch Flora Fleurs de Villes.

Once called…read moreIsland View park, this three acre park had it's name changed in to honor the death Maurice Gibb who passed away from cardiac arrest while undergoing surgery at the age of 53 in 2003. Maurice was a member of the seven time Grammy award winning musical group the Bee Gees. He liked to take in the view from the park and the group recorded at Criteria Studios now the Hit Factory in North Miami in the late 70's and early 80's. Maurice also lived in the area. His former home sold for 13 million in 2012. In 2007, the year the name change took place at the park, it received $75,000 worth of improvements including landscaping and a three ring mosaic that was created by artist Dale Bryant. It was added to the park near the sea wall. The yellow ring represents peace, red is love, and blue is tranquility. The park was rededicated in a ceremony attended by members of Maurice Gibb's family. Tributes to Maurice Gibb are small in the park. Besides the ring on the southeast corner of the park there is a small granite carving with his name and there is a plaque outside the playground. In March of this year, the park reopened with two upgraded scenic lookout areas over Biscayne Bay, a green space, a brand new music-themed playground, a new dog park, fishing pier, shade structures, pavilion, outdoor seating, walking paths and additional native trees and shrubs. A living shoreline was created to minimize coastal erosion while creating a natural habitat for fish, aquatic plants, and wildlife. There park has 30 spots in the lot and you have to pay at the kiosk or through the phone app. Additionally there are also a few street spots, also pay by app. The main attraction of this park is the stunning water front view. You can sit on a bench and watch the mega yachts sail by. On the southern end of the park is a wooden boardwalk providing a view of the Venetian causeway. You can launch a kayak from the park to Flagler Monument Island. It is about a 15 minute paddle from here. This park is the perfect place to take in the view of Biscayne Bay and enjoy being outside in the beautiful Florida sunshine.

For his service to the city of Coral Gables, he was awarded the George E. Merrick Award of Excellence. Mr. Barker passed away in 2015. This park is a tiny .19 acres but it feels like a secret garden. it is landscaped with beautiful tropical palms, native shrubs, and flowering plants. In the back of the park is a darling trellis swing. The park also has a water fountain, carved stone benches made of oolite stone, and boulders and logs for kids to play on. There is landscape lighting for illumination at night. Dogs are welcome. This park is just one of the many reasons why Coral Gables is known as the City Beautiful.

Ingalls Park has a community center, walking trails, playground, pavilions, and a gazebo. The Center, pavilions, and gazebo can be rented for birthday parties and private functions. This park is really beautiful. I enjoyed walking on the path and my favorite parts of the park were the bridge, ducks, and turtles but I think the best feature of the park is that it is entirely enclosed by a fence. You can let your kids play and not have to worry that they are going to wander away or get out. It seems like a very safe play area. On the day I visited kids were enjoying the play area while other people were picnicking, and exercising. Hallandale created a great green space for their residents and guests.

Town Center Park is a 3 acre park located on the west side of Collins Avenue…read more The land the park sits on was once a shopping mall. After it was demolished the property was donated to the city by the developer and turned into this tranquil park. The park is completely fenced in which is a great safety feature. Inside is a playground, fitness trail with exercise equipment, meditation garden for adults only open daily from 9 AM-6 PM, public art, restroom, and gazebo. Much of this park is state-protected wetland area. The only negative of this park is that the parking lot is very small in relation to the popularity of the park. One other thing is you have to watch out for kids on scooters. Parents allow their kids to ride them at break neck speeds on the exercise path and several times I found myself having to jump out of the way. This area is mainly high rise condos on the beach so a green space like Town Center Park is essential for having a place to take the kids to play outside and for exercise.
