My husband wanted to try some place new to eat so we landed here at Charlie's Place. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food however was not great. First my daughter wanted the clam plate (they were out of clams) and my husband wanted the buffalo chicken fettuccine which, the only thing that made it buffalo was that it was covered in black pepper. The fettuccine itself had very little flavor. Also, she had to check if they could even make this dish because "they only had half of a chicken left?!" I ordered the appetizer for 2 plate and the onion rings were super greasy, their nacho cheese looked like it was cheese whiz that you buy in a can, and the cheese raviolis were cold. The mozzarella sticks looked like they were the frozen store bought sticks. Needless to say, we won't be returning. read more

Food was about 3 stars but they charged us for refills and never told us once that there weren't free refills on of all things brewed iced tea and soda water!? When I expressed my agitation that the waitress didn't tell us before, she blamed the owner. I will never go back to this place and I will make sure I never send anyone here either. read more

Good pizza. The problem is with customer service. Harry and the staff in the restaurant are good. Pleasant. Typical owner/operator environment. If you call for a delivery it's a different story. I don't know who they have on the phone but she needs a serious attitude check. We get take-out 2-3 times a month. Roughly 50% of the time it's no problem. The other 50%, we're told off and that they DO NOT go over the bridge to Bourne. When this happens, we've tried explaining "but you deliver here all the time..." WE DO NOT is the response when this person is on phone duty. Last time she decided to just hang up on us. Tonight she just put us on hold and disconnected us. No more. Harry, be consistent and get a better take-out person. At least someone who's not an a*hole. read more

An interesting place to say the least. Many options to choose from. My meal came with a salad, portions were good but no croutons. Bread was delicious. My meal....Chicken with Alfredo, again BIG service (never need a box!) But........weird sauce choice. I actually didn't care for it. Bathroom didn't look like it was done much since the 1980's and was slightly dirty. Also my water tasted like it came straight out of Buzzards Bay, and that is NOT a good thing. My adventure was a "poor man's Olive Garden" and just in my opinion for the same price....Olive Garden has it over this place. Again bigger portions here but worse quality food. read more

For years, I've been driving down Cranberry Highway and for some reason never bothered to check the place out. Until today. It was 1pm when I arrived, so it wasn't too busy. It does get crowded during dinner most days though, so be prepared for that. Service was great and I got my Pizza within 15 minutes. For whatever reason, I got hamburger on my pizza. Overall, it wasn't bad. The hamburger itself wasn't too great but the cheese is VERY GOOD! Definitely ordering a plan cheese pizza next time! Overall not a bad experience! read more

Best pizza around. I've been known to drive the 1 hour round trip from the Cape to grab a Pepperoni and a Buffalo Chicken. Thin crust, square pies, with lots of toppings and not smothered in red sauce. They never disappoint. The phone is always busy, the takeout area is crowded. Customers seem like an inconvenience. When you order a pizza a specific way, and you get it just any way the cook chooses, it really ruins the meal. This is definitely not the Charlie's Place it was years ago. I love pizza and this place has a legit south shore style bar pizza that rivals the best there is out there. No frills- small cheese cooked well done- just enough grease, crunch and flavor to make me happy. I just wish the bar pizza movement hit metro west so I can save money on gas. read more

BOO HOO... Fantastic pizza. I am not one for squares, so order the smalls. Thin crust, light on the sauce, cheese is baked onto some of the crust. The problem... They stop serving at 9. I have been going to Charlie's for the past three years. The Pizza and Greek salad is outstanding. Our initial waitress was Yvonne, who was great, but had to cut done on her hours (health). The new waitress, KAREN has been waiting on for about a year and the service is still EXCELLENT. When we come in she knows our order, gets our drinks and food is their within five minutes. Just ordered takeout. My husband's fish and chips were fine but my fried scallops were awful! Must have been old and treated in solution to keep them over date. Bitter and not edible. I looked to see if they were really scallops. They were, but. The worst fried scollops that I have ever had. On the other side we have had great pizza there! Will not order sea food again. read more

I've been coming here for years! Friendly, "local" place that tourists will love too. The food is tasty and plenty of it, all for a good price. Or you can get a pizza to go, which is a thin crust and again, tasty. Good family dining that fills up on the weekends. Holy shit! Blown away by the smell of this place. Have they ever cleaned a carpet here? Fought through the smell to get to a seat and order the most rancid food ever. I wish I was making this up, but the only thing redeemable was the O rings. Just know I am not a picky eater and wouldn't serve this food to a dog. How this place has been in business so long is a complete mystery. When my wife says that we should have gone to the 99, that doesn't say much for the restaurant. This place is what I expected as far as appearance is concerned. It is dated and smells like stale beer. This is the kind of place that makes you wonder, have they ever cleaned out their ice machine out back? Have they ever replaced the guns at the soda fountain at the bar? I would never dine in here for this reason. The pizza is good, almost as good as Cape Cod Cafe and tasted very similar but 100% overpriced. I recently ordered takeout from here just to try the pizza as I can never find good "bar pizza" in the Wareham area. First impressions mean so much and mine is to never ever go near this place again. Went here this past weekend I'd much rather do a lousy chain or eat microwaved frozen food. It was dark, dumpy and loud. We were seated and then forgotten about then given lots of attitude. We should have just left then. But we ordered drinks, our apps at that time as well as our main items. The drinks were ok, the appetizers, bad, heavy oily and old oil. One in the party got pizza, one got a burger one got fish and chips. No one finished their food and not cause we werent hungry just because the quality was so so poor. The fish and chips were ruined because the oil is old and probably not the right temperature. The pizza was worse than any frozen one I've ever tried and the burger was just frozen poor quality griddle fried/heated yuck. Turns out there is a reason why the parking lot wasn't full when we arrived. We had sat outside (which is essentially the same as sitting inside, as there is no view). The food took too long to arrive considering the number of patrons in the place. The bread that came out after the drinks wasn't fresh at all. It only took one bite of the stale bread to give me an idea of what was to come. After the decent wait in a somewhat empty restaurant, our food came out. to my surprise my order was not done the way I had ordered, and why I told the waitress that the order was done wrong she replied, with a great amount of attitude mind you, that "this is the way it is served". No attempt to fix the problem was made. The issue was a matter of toppings. So she takes the dish away and within 5 minutes it returns. It is clear that all she did was remove the offending items and brought it straight back. The Odds of an exact matching meal of being at the ready were slim to none, so I wasn't even going to touch the meal I ordered. I decidedt I would at least nibble at the side order. As it turns out the onion rings would disappoint too. They were barely luke warm! At this point I have no appetite for the meal and cant wait for the dining experience to be over. The host came out to see what was wrong and after explaining everything to him all he could say was sorry and that was all. We ended up paying for a meal that wasn't eaten. Everything was bland. But it was the attitude that was given to me by the waitress which really un-nerved me. I can strongly say that I will never recommend this place to anyone I know. I have this place a try twice within the last two weeks. I've driven by a hundred times and never ventured in. I went both times on a Sunday late afternoon. Nice little place nice decor. Good menu prices are right. Pizza both times. I has the Hamburg and white pizza. Both delicious and great pricing again. I got a small side of fries with each which was a very large serving for one and the Fries were great. Seems like a nice local haunt I may start to frequent more often and try some other menu items. They advertise best pizza in the world. I have yet to find that anywhere so only four stars for false advertising. It's good and maybe deserves best pizza in town ! I'll be back. read more

The waitress we "started" with was very blah. Then she fired us as costumers and have us someone else. We had mexican skins. They were okay at best. We ordered teriyaki tips which was supposed to have onions peppers and pods. They left out the pea pods, brought them later after w complained we complained. And the steak was OMG salty as all heck..the manager took one dinner off and didn't even have the courtesy to apologize. Ok.. so we don't eat the "normal" food. We can't do the cheese; but we like pizza. So we went to Charlie's Place .. after all the sign says best pizza in Mass. We ordered a pizza with no cheese, tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, red peppers and spinach. (yes Garlic is considered a topping) First off the waitress told us that all the veggies could make the crust soggy and not cook all the way thru. I let her know they could pop the crust in the oven before putting on the veggies and that would help. She appeared to write that down. I was a little dismayed but accepted it. Whatever. The pizza came. Lets just say whenever we have nothing but veggies on a pizza, the veggies should be the star. It was no where even close to what we expected. Not the worst, but not worth going back for. The toppings barely covered the pizza. It was mostly diced tomatoes. THe good parts were that the tomato sauce was very tasty and the mushrooms were fresh. The bad part came with the bill. $18.00 was WAY too much to pay for a sparse pizza. We don't mind paying, but please put on some food. Also, just a suggestion, but if they cut the redpeppers different than the diced tomatoes it would add a demension to the pizza and a patron could actually see them. read more

This restaurant has been a staple of mine for pizza since I was a little girl, about 35 years ago. I have loved their Mushroom pizza ever since then. It used to come between two round cardboard plates in a brown bag. I now get it in family size which is a big square and comes in a to go box. It still taste just as delicious. Charlie's Place does have outdated interior. It needs renovations. The rest of the menu is okay. I would get the pizza. The salads I have had there are fresh as well. read more

Dark interior, old stuffy atmosphere that looks like it hasn't changed in decades, but the one thing that doesn't change and shouldn't is the pizza. Made the same way for years, toasted heavily on the bottom with cheese that crisps almost burned around the edges but stays oh so perfect in the middle, I'd call it a thin crust if it were any thinner but it is somewhere in between. It's not a new York slice, so if that's what you're expecting then bite me, this is Massachusetts. There's not much warm or welcoming about this place, the waitresses are pleasant but won't kiss your ass, you might even receive some dirty looks from cranky old customers but the pizza and Greek salads are worth putting up with just about anything. read more
