I purchased a .22 Walter handgun and suppressor from them many, many years ago and paid for everything plus the $200 stamp application for the suppressor and waited to hear from them. Of course they kept the suppressor until the application was approved. Months later I never heard anything and when I contacted them they claimed I was making it up -- their records showed no record of a suppressor or application. I made the transaction at the Florida Gun Show with their store, the same two individuals were working in the store the day I returned to get a refund for the suppressor that I worked with at the show. I now own the most expensive .22 caliber Walther on the planet. Oh yeah....they even took me inside their booth to demonstrate how quietly the pistol operated with the suppression, nobody around the booth heard anything! read more

I took my gun to installed a sight, they scratch it. Refound my money and now I'm taking it elsewhere to get it polish and painted ... have no more to say. It was suggested that I go to Charlie's Armory to locate a particular pistol that I wanted. Although Charlie's Armory didn't have the pistol in stock, Hugo agreed to order it for me. After completing the paperwork and leaving a $50 deposit I eagerly awaited for the phone call that my pistol had arrived... After several months I purchased a different pistol from a different vendor. Still no calls from Charlie's.. So I finally determined that I was never going to hear from them and went by to either apply the deposit to another pistol, or a refund. I went in with my receipt of the deposit, explained my intentions to the employee. To my surprise, the employee said that after 90 days all custom orders are returned to stock and all deposits are forfeited.. I tried to explain that no one ever called me, so I assumed they simply couldn't find the pistol for me. Now the employee seems annoyed with my request and is not interested in anything except an unnecessary confrontation. I'm confused. They agree to order the pistol, take my deposit, never call me, and then have no interest in returning my deposit or applying the deposit for anything else?? Really? Truly lousy business. I should have payed attention to my initial impression of the entire operation. Because of their decision to keep my deposit and not even attempt to make it right I will happily steer anyone who listens away from their low class operation and on to Bass Pro Shops. I would give them less if I could ever since Luis and then Henry left this place has gone down the tubes. The customer service is ok at best the employees don't treat you like before there use to be a family atmosphere now it is nothing to bother with. Fantastic customer service! Knowledgeable and respectful. I've been going to this store on and off for years. I purchased a handgun from them about two weeks ago and what a great experience it was. Talk about informative! Every question I asked was answered in the most professional of ways. They mention how when you purchase from them.."you're family." Well...I felt like that from the moment I walked in. From the greeting to the purchase and everything in between...I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Henry, Luis, Charlie..and a younger American guy are great guys to deal with. I was given a more than fair price for the pistol and am extremely happy with my purchase. These guys really did make it that much easier. I will not hesitate to purchase another firearm, or anything for that matter, from Charlie's. Anyone can have a bad experience anywhere..just remember.. you get out what you put in. I been visiting a couple of Armory trying to get a good deal on a Rifle . Usually guns shops the staff is very rough and with bad attitude but not this place at all . Finally found this place . Well... Parking is terrible. So when you finish with that battle zone you're greated by a half assed hello by the heavy set fellow. Which I'll get back to in a minute. When you walk into the shop... The carpet is stained all over and there is dust literally covering every square inch. I tried to pick up some magazines that were inside the dust covered Narnia but just placed them back after Jabba behind the counter said $29.99 for that busted magazine. So, it looks like I hit 88 in a delorean and went back to the 70's and this place hasn't see. A cleaning product since then. I feel like it's going to shut down. Ive been in there a few times, and I could swear that the big big big guy changes his stories on what he's supposedly done each time.. My brother was an 0311 in the Marine Corp and he seems nothing like that. Most veterans, real veterans don't speak. This one speaks too much. That isn't the only thing he does too much.. But I digress. The young fellows in the shop seem like they get bullied by him or something. I've seen him yell at one of the guys once or twice. They're really quiet when he's in the room and when he goes into the back they speak and smile and laugh again. Weird. Anyways, I'm sure it has potential. And the old school look of the place could be for a benefit if it's at least kept clean. Maybe a change in management? Heck I don't know. But the service wasn't great and the layout isn't either. Neither is the inventory or the prices. So this place has nothing going for it in terms of a gun shop. Sorry about the one star. With all the competition there is you'd think they'd step their game up just a pinch. The $50 transfer fee is insane too and the only thing they've done right recently was fire the other heavy set old guy who shot the register. Safety 101 people. read more

As soon as I walked into Charlie's, I was greeted. They were fairly busy but they let me know that they would be right with me.
