Made the terrible mistake of booking an appointment here for the morning of my wedding. I never put my hair up, or been to a hair dressers for that purpose so didn't really know what to expect. I decided against going for the practice run as it was so expensive to do that but went to talk to the stylist two days beforehand so that we could have a chat about it. She asked if I had any photos of what I wanted - I hadn't - but had a general idea of the sort of thing I was after which I described to her. She said it was good that I didn't have a fixed idea as she was much better when working freely.
I trusted that, as a head stylist and experienced hair dresser, she would do a decent job. I was very wrong. On the day (2 days later) she asked what I wanted and if I had any photos (again) - I said no. She then proceeded to curl the bottom of my hair (long) backcombed the top so that she could give me a sort of small beehive at the back, draped the front of my hair away from the centre parting and pinned it at the back. Once she had done enough that I could see what her artistry was going to produce, I said that I I wasn't really happy with it but all she could do was ask what I wanted. I wanted something that looked pretty of course, not something that made me look like a horse and that my mum could have done at home. But she came up with no alternative. Honestly, I thought head stylists are supposed to know a thing or two but this one doesn't.
There was no sign that she was making an effort, especially given that it was my wedding day! Were it not for the lack of time, and the tangled mess resulting from the back combing, I would have taken it out and gone with a ponytail - it would have looked better believe me. Stupidly, I had booked my appointment so that there would be little time for the windy, wintery conditions to spoil my pretty wedding hair..
Though I have many faults, I don't look like a horse. Thanks to Charlie Taylor - on that day I did. The whole experience and the result spoiled the day. I don't even like to look at the photos. read more
