If patient disagrees with her or provides new information, then patient risks getting lectured again, then when patient complains to administrators (doctors and head nurse) they just label patient as the problem without really listening to patients concerns about the condescending nurse. And after all that none of what they did reduced my asthma or allergies.

Dr. Teng is newer to the Santa Cruz ENT practice, but the few times I've met with him have been pleasant and helpful - plus my wife underwent surgery with him and it exceeded her expectations, both the result, and the recovery. The surgeons here are the best of the best. They will give you direct feedback on what you need, with no frills. If you want a Doctor to tell you what you want to hear, or prescribe you something you think you need, this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you want excellent care, and results that improve your quality of life, I would recommend them without hesitation.

On April 14th I called because the tip of the hearing aid got stuck in my mother's ear. It usually takes 5-10 minutes for them to remove the piece. The hearing aid also needed a minor repair which also normally takes just 5-10 minutes. I called at 9:15 and left a message explaining the issue, but didn't receive a call back. I called again at 10:30 and the receptionist told me she would call us back. By 1:00 we hadn't heard from them so I had to take my mother to Sutter Urgent Care which took two hours. By the end of the day, we still had not heard from SC EN&T Medical Group. The next day, I took the hearing aid into the Water St. location for the repair. While I was trying to explain what needed to be done to one person, the receptionist who I talked to on the phone the previous day interrupted and claimed she tried to call us back. Well, we all know our cell phones provide a list of incoming and outgoing calls and none of the three phone numbers (mine, my sister's, or my mother's) shows a call from SC EN&T and no message was left. This review gets two stars only because the woman who helped me when I dropped off the hearing aid for repair (I think "Molly") was gracious, ready to listen, and it was ready to be picked up within an hour after I dropped it off. I understand the office is busy and people need to wait in line for service, but at the same time, consideration should be given when you know you have a 100 year-old client with a problem that can be fixed in 5-10 minutes. Instead, we had to go to Urgent Care where our mother was potentially exposed to sick people and falling asleep in the waiting room. I also do not appreciate being interrupted while I'm trying to explain a concern. Be respectful.

I am fortunate to have a medical insurance plan that reimburses me for a percentage of certain appointments with Dr. Motyka but I did have to adjust my budget quite a bit to be able to afford to sign up. I feel like it is worth it because Dr. Motyka has saved me countless hours of researching health options and feeling confused about which treatment to pursue when I have various ailments. She has also provided us with many very useful and effective health tips which I had never heard of before. I had pneumonia or bronchitis prior to seeing Dr. Motyka. I knew I needed to do something differently with my health if I was going to be able to keep on working so I made a regular appointment with Dr. Motyka to get to know her before signing up for her concierge service. After I became part of her concierge service she recommended a regime of supplements and my first-ever probiotics and my health has been very strong ever since. I have really appreciated having Dr. Motyka for my children's health care as well and feel that she has helped me feel I am doing a better job now about giving them quality medical care. She also gives me advice when I ask for it such as regarding dietary advice and post menopausal issues. Thanks to Dr. Motyka I have been able to lose a few extra pounds and she has been very helpful with navigating my post-menopausal issues. It is also so nice to be able to call her office and get an appointment within a week - I can also call her directly on her cell phone to speak with her when I have a question and she usually answers the first time I call! If she isn't able to pick up she calls me back very quickly. The same goes for her office manager Charley. I also communicate with them via e-mail type messages in a medical portal. I like having one doctor who deals with all of my health issues (of course referring me to specialists as needed) and who sees me and treats me as a whole being and not just a foot, thyroid, shoulder, etc.(the functional medicine philosophy). Another reason I signed up for Dr. Motyka's concierge services was that I love her radio show "Ask Dr. Dawn". I really appreciate her science-based medical advice that she brings into down-home remedies that work! It feels to me like I am taking an on-going health class with the radio show being the lectures! As with any doctor, I need to come prepared with my questions and a summary of my needs and history since she can sometimes get mixed up about my history or my treatment. However, I really feel that she cares about me and my family and gives us personalized treatment.
