I was pleasantly surprised with the fried chicken on my meal, it was the BEST fried chicken strips I have ever had. The flavors were perfect. The steak was on the salty side. The loaded baked potatoes were 10/10! The corn bread muffins were not the sweet corn style of corn muffins you get in alot of places and they were on the dry side. My friend got the apple butter but she said it would have been better with their biscuts. My first experience at Cracker Barrel was great, the staff were all friendly and kind. This outpost benefits from location. Being so close to Vanderbilt and hotels makes it an easy answer for the out-of-towner or college kid who wants something quick and familiar. Their wallet may not agree but when has money ever gotten in the way of (American) convenience? Parking is easy and the employees are not rude. It's a bit of a harder call for locals to make. With local chains, mom & pops and food trucks at the plenty serving similar quality burger & fries for cheaper, it doesn't make a lot of sense to go with the corporate buy. I know the heart (and stomach) wants what it wants but this economy is no joke. Choose wisely.

I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon around 5 p.m., and the drive-thru line extended out of the parking lot, so I parked my car in the lot (there's PLENTY of parking) and walked inside instead. That seemed to be a good idea because I was in and out within 15 minutes. If you're in a rush, this seems to be the move so you don't get stuck in the drive-thru line. I'm from Los Angeles, so IN-N-OUT isn't new to me... my favorite is the Double-Double Animal Style. My burger was just as I remembered (pretty fresh), albeit a little salty. I probably shouldn't be eating any lettuce (or beef) amidst this lettuce/beef crisis, but YOLO lol. The caramelized onions really give it flavor so give the animal style a try! I don't like their fries (too skinny for my liking), so I don't have any opinions on those. The price was surprising. It's only $3 something for a cheeseburger and $6 something for a Double-Double (not the combo). As far as the service, it was really prompt and friendly despite the large crowd waiting to order. All the cashiers seemed super polite, which is more than I can say for just about any other fast food restaurant in Madison. Not going to name any names but If you live here, you know exactly what I mean. All in all, I would return.
