I've been taking lessons here for 8 months. I love it. The horses are so much better than the usual student fare-- wonderfully trained and not dull at all. Most lessons start with a bit of lunging and they are ridden by skilled riders on non-lesson days to tune them up. The facility is fantastic, with covered stables and grooming areas leading to a huge covered arena that makes it the perfect wet-weather place to ride. They also have uncovered arenas, round pens, trails, and more. The horses have thick bedding and are very well-cared for. It's no surprise that they have that happy, contented, look when you walk past the stalls. They use an aerosolized fly spray in the barn that mean you (and your horses) aren't fighting flies in the summer. There's lots of parking, including room for horse trailers. Best of all, I love the social atmosphere of the barn-- everyone is extremely helpful and nice. It's a slightly older crowd than some barns, more adults than children, and many with interesting careers and gorgeous horses. Finally, you can't beat having Charles as a trainer for eliminating horse-rider problems and preventing them from starting. I've improved tremendously as a rider under their care and can't recommend Charles Wilhelm Training highly enough. It's more expensive than some places, but in this case you're getting real value for your money. read more
