Another crappy T station. In general T is lame and slow and dirty. Stops often. Stations are dirty including this one.

It's clean, fairly pretty, there's usually someone selling flowers, and it's exceedingly convenient. What more does a T stop need?

I would love the possibility of riding with him in the future. We had an incident concerning a blind man scheduled to get on our van along with a service dog. The woman already on the van with me was freaking out aboput the possibility of the dog getting onto our van as she is seriously allergic to dogs. The Ride refused to put either my co passenger on a second vehicle. My fellow passenger with her coat wrapped arpoundith all of the windows open and her head wrapped tightly with her coat. I don't know how the ride deals with deathly allergies at the time the rides are scheduled. It would seem prudent on the Ride's part to consider service dogs along with the allergies of passengers with great concern for safe rides for it's customers. The Driver George handled this situation wonderfully. He gave equal concern for the blind man and his dog and the scare allergic passenger. Reward and thank him for me. I'm always treated good and courteously. I so appreciate the Ride being available to me as a disabled person. thankfully, Kurt Cybulski

Just because other American cities don't have any public transit, doesn't make this one stellar. There is no reason to compare, but to look at it simply from the perspective of its functionality: it is slow. The red line moves fast, but has not expanded N since the 1980s, wheras sunurban development has exploded. Buses are a slow alternative. The green line is absurdly slow, which means I avoid going to businesses or institutions located along its lines such as the MFA. Someone compared it to LA. LA is huge, but in the last 20 years has expanded very aggressively. They've added Metro lines, trains, and new dedicated bus-only fast lanes for fast buses. Boston can learn from Metro LA. Boston's commuter rail trains are dirty and extremely old. They also come too infrequently, for those living in the suburbs. In weekends, for example, trains might come every 2-3 hours! Plan accordingly... If you travel the same route, or don't go far, it is affordable and you can find a way to speed up your trip (by not switching lines, etc). But if you need to go cross-town to meetings, etc., you gotta drive. And the traffic is insane, but what choice does the MBTA give you. Wheelchair accessibility is also dismal, with many major stations still lacking, and elevators constantly down. It literally just took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Central Square to Watertown because I tried waiting for the number one bus but that was 15 minutes behind then took the subway and had to wait 40 minutes at Harvard Square because two buses skipped going to Watertown. This is a 15 minute drive and it took me 5x longer!!! The other day I went from the Longwood area to Somerville, and it took me also about an hour... Another 15 min drive.

We were here for 5 days and bought the 7 day pass. This got us full access to the trains, buses and ferries for our entire trip. We stayed in an AirBnB close to Cambridge and took the Red Line into the city everyday. From there we also took the Green Line multiple times and the Blue Line to get to the airport. If you don't mind public transportation and walking just a short distance to where you need to go, the Charlie Card is well worth the value and even though we had to buy the 7 day pass for a 5 day visit, we got our money worth and then some. We checked Uber some days and the price of one Uber was the same as the Charlie Card for a week.

Note that the store is outside the ticketed area. If you're a passenger arriving at the Downtown Crossing Station, you'll see prominent signs directing you to an exit and then on to the store. I showed up at the store with a pretty large stack of old Charlie tickets. My aim was to consolidate everything onto a Charlie card. More precisely (and here comes the full disclosure part of the review), I was aiming for a senior card (yikes!) The Charlie Card Store could well have been like the DMV. It wasn't!! After I explained my mission to the staff member at the entrance, I was given a paper ticket with a number on it. To my happy surprise, that number was called within three or four minutes. I soon found myself being photographed for my permanent (senior) Charlie Card. That card was not produced for me on the spot -- it came in the mail a few weeks later. For immediate use, I was given a temporary senior card that held most of my accumulate ticket value, along with a non-senior Charlie card to hold the rest. I was in and out of the Charlie Store in something like ten minutes. I really appreciated the great service!

We tried booking the direct train for a concert in Foxborough at the Gillette stadium but it sold out in advance online quickly. We then took the regular train, bought tickets at the desk and the workers were super friendly and helpful and told us where to go and it would tell us where our train track would be departing from. It was very bustling on a Thursday afternoon, once we got our track everyone ran to try to get a seat. Lots of stores and restaurants. For 3 adult one way tickets it was about $26 in total so a little over $8 a ticket one way for an adult. Located in the middle of town and not too far from hotels and public transportation. Took less than an hour to get to Foxborough and was pretty convenient.

Yelp Review 2026 #208:…read more We took a train from South Stadium to "Boston" Stadium (Gillette Stadium) for the World Cup and back. The station was buzzing with people rushing to get to work and futbol fans trying to get to the stadium. Police were everywhere. World Cup volunteers and train station staff were very helpful and patient. We paid $85 for roundtrip train tickets from Boston to Foxborough. Normally, it's under $20. We booked the 9am train which is boarding group A. We started lining up to the side of South Station. They had free sunscreen, water, and bug repellent wipes for us. We didn't board until after 9:45am and it was chaotic. Some people were running towards the train instead of staying in an organized line - most of them were foreigners that don't believe in rules, manners and decorum which is beyond the station's control. The train was open seating. There are food stalls, shops, and pharmacy at South Station. The restrooms are not the cleanest as one would expect from a train station at a big city. We've also used this station to get to different parts of Boston before and after the World Cup. The trains were alright.
