He set us up with 2 extra mics and an extra guitar amp. We got to hang out with "All Rush" and he is just good people. He is passionate about music and was also jamming during our time there. We wish him all the success! This was an nice change from our garage practice night. This time, I shared a time slot with a girlfriend to make audition demos so we could check each other's type-A neuroses. We had to reschedule like 3 times because all the local accompanists were busy gigging High Holidays. Paul, the proprietor, was totally cool and worked with us with no pressure to commit when he knew we were scrambling. I walk in to the studio, which is small but comfortable. Nice wood paneling, not super live but definitely not dead. Great mic too, but the shining star in the room was the BEAUTIFUL Yamaha grand in flawless condition perfectly in tune. Glory, glory be, a real piano in a recording studio. You should've seen the look on our accompanist's face. Paul mixed our tracks perfectly and quickly - I walked out with my demo an hour and a half after arriving. He's super knowledgeable about both classical and jazz. Would definitely recommend him to anyone. The only flaw is that the studio has no sign, but there is a parking lot. If you're looking, its the place next to the chiropractor. . . on the same corner as the fabulous Pampas Cafe.

While the band was still playing, one of the background singers reached for the mixer to adjust the lead mic gain. At that exact moment, the studio owner walked in and shouted at her, "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH THAT". She replied"..." and was left with no response. We were completely dumbfounded and I should have walked out at that moment. I know now that by not standing up to this horrible excuse for a man business owner that I am part of the problem. After much deliberation and after apologizing to the background singer for not standing up for her as a man which in turn perpetuates this problem, I figured leaving this review was the next best thing. I am still angry at myself for not walking out and giving him a dime. What a pathetic excuse for a man, verbally abusing a women like that. My only hope is that he will read this and do better in the future and not scream profanity at a small defenseless woman. As men, we should ALL do better and avoid this place at all costs.
