Central to LA. 24 hour access is crucial for late night gigs. Jay, the manager, is a chill guy. He'll get on your ass if you disrespect the place like leave garbage in the lobby or break the rules, but he looks out for everyone and has always been reasonable. The spot is great to store your gear, have meetings, rehearse your music, record and produce music during quite hours, and make connections. It gets hot in the summer, but the rooms have AC. Overall this place is a gem. It has allowed me to grow my music, my business and my brand.

The people working as your assistant and runners are all talented, top notch audio engineers who know how to pretty much troubleshoot every situation. I got called in as a guest sound engineer for an acoustic session and my assistant got everything set up and ready to go even before I walked in for the call time. In some studios, this is not what happens, you get there and you start from scratch, with the Village, you get your set up exactly as you want it and you have a whole team of people ready to help you out whenever you need to. They have an awesome mic locker, a lot of history, great people and a super warm and friendly but genuine vibe. The people are crazy chill but know how to fix a problem. And did I mention that they are relatively affordable? Okay maybe I can say that they probably offer the best value for money with the studios around LA. I don't ever remember being less stressed in a studio session than when I do one here.

Working with Rene at Future Sound Studios was the best decision I made in 2018…read more The worst decision I made was using my drummer's boyfriend's studio. I had three great songs that I had written over the summer that I decided needed recording for my debut album. My drummer offered her bf's studio to record the band, which was cool at first. It ended up being a HUGE mistake--the drums sounded AWFUL recorded in his place. Small, tinny, behind-a-padded-wall sound. Out of sync totally. Not to mention his overall attitude was weird--it ended up being his session, not mine. I thought there was no hope for saving these records. And I still had yet to record my vocals. Luckily, we found Rene on Yelp. With his help, I was able to record my vocals and get the drums fixed to a T. Rene made my songs go from B-side 1960's crap small-studio sounding to 2019 sparkling, widescreen Katy Perry perfection. We also go the songs done relatively quickly. I was obviously a bit trepidatious going back into a studio after that last experience, but I shouldn't have been. Rene is very nice and personable, the opposite of what I experience so often in Hollywood. I felt comfortable in his studio the second I stepped foot inside. Rene and I are also on the same wavelength creatively--we both feel when a take is right and when it's not, when a song is hot and when it's not. He is very honest and will tell you the truth, which I appreciate. My favorite part of working with him is his sense of humor. I also respect how I requested no autotune on my voice and he actually listened--most other engineer/producers I've worked with laugh right in my face at that and never do it, they're too egotistical to ever let the singer make mistakes on their record. But he let me try it. Remember, as a mixer, masterer and engineer, his success is your success. He is a hard worker-I must have asked him for 40 files for TV and film placement purposes and he sent me every single one immediately. He is a walking plethora of musical knowledge. The actual room is small where I recorded, but it worked fine for me and my backup singer. If you really wanted to, you could cram a small choir in there, maybe a horn. Rene's studio is for overdubs, not bands. So, keep that in mind. Although he does have other rooms. Great, high-quality gear, too. Fantastic mics. Rene is awesome! We all felt very comfortable and taken care of when we were offered fruit every morning and freshly-baked cookies in the afternoon! The equipment here was pretty top-shelf and I really enjoyed the amenities (gated parking that wasn't chaotic, upstairs lounge for kicking it when on break).
