Bottom line: amazing reptile shop that employees enthusiasts Are you looking for a place to buy a reptile? Do you need lots of help and materials? This is literally the place you need to go. My son has been begging us for a snake for years, and as he is pretty young, we didn't want to just dive in with it. He's in sixth grade now, and his little sister's in third grade. We figured they're probably old enough now to be able to take care of a reptile. I had seen this place advertised previously and we happen to be down in Ventura so we went and checked it out. We talked with who I would imagine is the owner, an extremely knowledgeable person who also happens to be friendly and helpful. He gave us what I would call almost too much information as we are brand new two the whole reptile thing, there's so much to learn and there's so much knowledge he wanted to impart on us The kids are interested in a baby snake of some kind, and we were lucky enough that they had a fair amount of young snakes in the shop of all kinds of different exotic varieties. We ended up taking a small python home in our kids are over the moon with it. It's a beautiful creature and they had a lot of of the items that we needed in stock there to be able to set up our terrarium correctly. Today is a Saturday at 350pm and the store is closed. I drove from far away. According to google, they should be opened till 7pm. And to top it off, they are closed for the next 2 days. Also, I have been calling them for the last few days to see if they have what I need and they NEVER answer the phone. Very frustrating and inconvenient. read more

We just recently came across this little store this past week and we've already been back twice! They have such a wide variety of awesome reptiles that our boys love to check out! The owners are absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and extremely helpful!! We are new to the reptile world, and the owner has given us such great tips to start out with our new baby bearded dragon. He doesn't make you feel rushed or stupid for the amount of questions you ask. His prices ( and quality) are the best in town as well! We will be forever customers here going forward! I was thrilled to see a small business for reptiles in our town. There had been another one years back, but it sadly closed. I have been avoiding chain pet stores since I rescue, and this shop is perfect. We have had many different reptiles over the years. The owner is very knowledgeable and takes great care of all the creatures in the shop. I love the bio-active enclosure set ups he has, and his connections with breeders, good businesses, and expos. Please support small businesses. I only wish this place wasn't so hidden. The only reason I noticed it, after the years it has been opened, is because I happened to be walking up the street after sightseeing. Fyi, anyone (like a reviewer) recommending a Petsmart, which is a known chain store with inhumane mill breeding and husbandry, is a HUGE red flag. This place is awesome and Jose , the owner, is so easy going. They have all the things that petco or pet smart would have and more ...including some things for cats and dogs. Awesome reptile and amphibian options, some from out of the U.S. The vibe is awesome. I came to get some info on my ball pythons but also surrender them as I couldn't care for them.. the owner is so knowledgeable and told me what he does with surrendered animals so they have a good live.. I'm giving 5-star because I absolutely hate having to write a negative review and what I'm writing is just an honest opinion and does not define the business overall. I came in here the other day and looked around. The tanks look super dirty and look like they do not get cleaned often. The reptiles water looks like it's been there for a really long time. It looks slimy. I don't know if this is normal because I'm not experienced or familiar with reptile enclosures. The point from this review is, if this is a problem for the reptiles, please hire a person specifically for the purpose of cleaning their space. They spend so much time in there and deserve to be comfortable and looked after. Not just displayed for sale. I only saw one person working there which from the other reviews looks like the owner, so I understand why it might be hard to do everything alone. And obviously this business wouldn't exist without the owners love for reptiles. I'm not stating that they're being neglected. I am simply stating exactly what I saw and think. Please do better for the little guys if needed. read more

Amazing addition to the Pierpont neighborhood! The shop has a wide selection of birds, lizards, and other critters--plus all sorts of dog and cat toys, pet food, tanks, and more. We talked to the owner and he's super friendly and will take the time to help you choose exactly what you need. The shop is clearly a labor of love and it shows. You can also buy crickets and stuff to feed your snakes and other slithery friends. Plenty of parking. And when you are done, you can walk down the street and go to the beach or grab something to eat at one of the many restaurants on Seaward. What's not to love? read more

Small hole in the wall reptile store. All the birds and reptiles looked great and the prices were reasonable. Picked up a feeder rat and crickets for my reptiles. We need more reptile and amphibian shops like this one. It's nice to see the animals kept on clean and enriching cages, clean aisles and shelves and lots of different products. They have a range of pets suitable from beginners to advanced keepers. Friendly and very helpful service too.
