Just the other day a friend of mine was telling me how much she missed eating a loaded baked potato like the ones she used to have when she was growing up. This was reason enough to make me search for such an eatery in the nearby vicinity. And luckily, just like magic, with the use of the internet, I found the place I was looking for. It was called Chariot Social - Loaded Baked Potato. And its logo was a cute caricature of a satisfied, full, potato, with the word "Kumpir" high above.
I immediately contacted the owner of this business by phone to see where they were located. She explained that her business which she started in June of this year was a mobile catering service based in Roanoke, Virginia, a Food Tent serving Loaded Baked Potatoes at Events, Concerts and various locations and that Sunday she would be in back of the Olde Salem Brewing Company, at 21 E Main Street in Salem, Virginia. I thanked her for the information and told her I would be there.
When I arrived I immediately saw her white Tent setup. The owner was a friendly and welcoming lady with a wonderful personality. Her name was Shay, originally from Turkey, where "Kumpir" translates to "a large, loaded baked potato that is split open, mashed with butter and cheese, and topped with various-savory ingredients". She told me how it was "one of Turkey's most iconic and popular fast foods".
After we finished talking and getting acquainted, I made my order with her assistance with recommendations for the toppings. I ordered the Beef Brisket Loaded Baked Potato with Mozzarella cheese, and topped with corn, bacon, pico de gallo, sour cream, and chives. Before she began to make it I asked for the bill to pay for it with my Google Pay. It was $15, the most expensive item on the menu, but well worth it for the size and quality of the potato and amount and quality of the brisket. The potato provider has given the exclusivity in the area only to her and Frankie Rowland's Steakhouse, she told me. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of her Food Tent and the high-quality of the loaded baked potato.
It completely filled me up and I enjoyed eating it. It was so tasty and delicious. I highly recommend this eatery and am already looking forward to coming back. Her Food Tent business is not stationary.
