The aesthetic is incredible -- vintage charm from the original Thundercloud Lodge blended perfectly with modern, rustic chic design. It's a full-service hotel right in the heart of the Village -- one short block to the lake, shops, and restaurants (and right across from the bowling alley). Easy parking and EV charging available, which is a huge bonus. Janet, Maddie, and Louie greeted us and were absolutely amazing. Genuine, welcoming, and thoughtful. They even gifted us complimentary mugs and were so kind to our son, giving him a patch for his jacket or hat. That kind of hospitality stands out. And the freshly baked s'mores cookies? Unreal. Warm, gooey, perfectly toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate. Honestly better than DoubleTree cookies -- and yes, even better than the famous Disney park cookies. They're that good. It curved in the middle so bad that I woke up with shoulder pain from leaning all night :-/ Our room 367, faced the main hwy but you couldn't hear traffic w/the window closed. These rooms have frig, micro, dishwasher, plates & cups so very convenient when traveling. The front desk staff was very friendly. They do offer breakfast in the am which is another plus when traveling. We would stay there again but hopefully they get better beds!!!

At 4:00 pm we were assigned a room, but it still wasn't finished -- no sheets on the beds, no pillowcases, crumbs in the sink, and hair in the bathroom like someone had recently shaved. It seemed like there was miscommunication between the front desk and housekeeping. We finally got into a fully cleaned room around 4:30 pm. After a long day of traveling with kids, it was definitely disappointing. That said, the staff members who were working truly made a difference. Joshua, who checked us in, was very apologetic. He was the only person working the front desk at the time. He stayed professional the entire time. A huge shoutout also goes to Edwin, who was working unbelievably hard. We saw him helping with rooms, assisting at breakfast, and keeping things running smoothly. His work ethic really stood out and he deserves recognition. Once we settled in, the hotel had lots of positives: The complimentary s'mores kits were a big hit with the kids. Each kit included four marshmallows, one Hershey's bar, and four graham crackers, wrapped in a festive Thanksgiving bag. The outdoor fireplace courtyard is huge and made the experience even better. This was especially great because the little town of Big Bear tends to close early, so having this activity at the hotel was perfect. The pool area was clean and well maintained, which is also perfect option for family with kids (just a way to entertain them while having fun). The complimentary breakfast was also surprisingly good. The waffles were awesome, and there were plenty of options like cereal, oatmeal, eggs, and potatoes. I would love to see a few more condiments added (like mayonnaise or mustard), but overall it was a great breakfast spread. The room layout was spacious, very comfortable, and perfect for a family. Despite the rocky start at check-in, the hotel has a lot of charm, great amenities, and truly hardworking staff members who care.

Whether you stroll this path or ride it, you will witness nature at its pinnacle. From the gorgeous lake, towering pines, colorful wildflowers and snowcapped mountains, the Good Lord did not skimp when it comes to eye candy. Just this morning I caught a glimpse of three coyotes frolicking in the lake. I saw ducks, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and a variety of birds all enjoying the beautiful lake they call home. These peaceful surroundings beckon me every time I visit Big Bear. Be sure to visit this glorious path!

There are signs that say no motorized bikes but that's all I saw on a Saturday afternoon. I'm sure they want to keep it slow so it's safer for all. Since it was full of lots of part time riders and many walkers bike educate could be improved. Overall, it's a very easy path and kids will do just fine but I suggest helmets and bike signals should be reminded and discussed before any ride.

We had the pleasure of being served by Kendal, who brought a sweet amazing energy to our dining experience. She was not only sweet but also very knowledgeable, recommending some fantastic dishes and local spots in the area to explore. We started with the Margherita pizza topped with olive oil, fresh basil, and mozzarella. It was a delicious at $18. The Burrata with focaccia ($16), complemented by pesto and chopped giardiniera, was rich and flavorful. We also enjoyed the Crudité, priced at $7, which was a crisp and refreshing. For drinks, my group ordered the Espresso Martini, which was perfectly crafted, alongside a refreshing Peroni. We also sampled the non-alcoholic Ghia Classic Margarita and the classic Margarita, both of which were delicious and refreshing. One of the highlights of our visit was the breathtaking outdoor seating that offered incredible views. We will be returning on our next trip to Big Bear. Highly recommended!
