When they first came to Manchester it was in the Trafford Centre which I am rarely in. A couple times I have been, walked passed it and tempted. Looked at menu and it seemed expensive for a "fast food" burger (with drinks and fries it was about £13 or something like that). In the US, Five Guys is more like a fast food restaurant like McDonalds with the price being similar - price here in the UK is approaching "proper" restaurants. At the start of 2017 they opened restaurant in Arndale Centre so closer to me. I also heard from someone that the "Little Burgers" they sell are a decent size so the price of things doesn't seem too bad. I do like how you can have lots of different toppings so lots of options, did like that you could see the kitchen and see your burger being made. So I went for the Little bacon cheeseburger and some fries. Burger was OK. You get a lot of fries - had food to takeaway and loads of fries at the bottom of the bag. That is not a complaint! :) I went for the cajun style fries which had a bit of a kick to them - they tasted pretty good.  So overall, its OK. Better than McDonalds but its far from being best burger in Manchester.

Inside, it is quite new and follows traditional Five Guys decor of quotes etc about the brand and newspaper clippings from cities such as Edinburgh and London. The staff had a decent knowledge about me being gluten free. Gluten Free orders can be served without a bun in either a bowl or lettuce wrap and the chips and the 11 toppings are gluten free, you can have as many or little of the toppings for free including hot sauce, tomato sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion and lettuce. You only pay extra for cheese and bacon. I ordered a mini cheeseburger in a bowl with ketchup, mayo, grilled onions and tomatoes, the mini burger is one patty instead of two and is £2.20 cheaper, I found the taste of it to be bland and dry, meanwhile the toppings were cold and it wasn't served in the most impressive ad appetising of conditions, for example, the top was covered in seasoning as the chips had become to flow. The chips were fresh, and I liked how they stated where they were sourced from, but the portion size was too large even for a 'small chips' hence it overflown into my bag, which I didn't like either. A cheaper option to reflect the meaning of small is needed. Ths service wasn't spectacular, the ordering station felt too crowded and cramped but the chips were seasoned well and the overall feel was good too but due to reasons mentioned mainly the poor burger and price, I feel this branch of Five Guys only deserves a two star rating.

Though they only do chicken kebabs, the meat is absolutely gorgeous and you can have it with chips, pitta or rice. All options come with a Greek salad as well which can have anything of your choice in. They even have two types of Jalapeno peppers to compliment your kebab. If you don't fancy a kebab I would recommend the roasted chicken leg, which is in a gorgeous herby sauce and served with rice and salad. They also do various curries, some of which are different meats. Portions are always a good size and cost around £4. The blokes who work there are good for a bit of banter.

It is constantly packed with pissed hungry student between 1am-4am on, well, any night of the week. The guy who runs it is an absolute joker and rather than getting annoyed by the pissed rabble he revels in the attention he gets. Girls asking for photos with him, guys shaking his hand. He is a Fallowfield legend and meeting him is a rite of passage for University of Manchester students. The food? Couldn't tell you to be honest. I have never eaten it sober. At 3am after an unholy amount of alcohol it tastes divine. I think I may have once declared "this is the best thing I have ever eaten" of a chicken kebab. But who cares? Half the people in Kebab King aren't even eating, everyone is just there for the "banter"!

Its literally packed out every night of the week. And get this.. one man is literally always there. You will be able to tell who he is by the fact that he says 'anyone else waitin' to orda' in exactly the voice in which you are reading that out in your head right now. He will even say this if you are waiting to pay, or as he hands you your kebab. It may be all he can actually say. As for the all important food, its damn tasty and comes to a few quid or less no matter what you have. All the standard kebabs, pakoras and samosas, pizzas, garlic breads, garlic breads with cheese, its all good, and it's all a couple of quid. Just don't forget the garlic mayo.

There's a really good selection of veggie options here- veggie Chow Mein, veggie Vermicelli etc. But the Sweet and Sour chicken is really good, if you eat meat. This Chinese take out is everything you want it to be and more: value for money, friendly service and good enough food. A word of warning though: we once ordered delivery from here (for just a £1 charge) and it took absolutely forever so order early if you're thinking of doing this. We may have just been unlucky but even so. Chop Chop didn't exactly live up to its name that time.

I also like the style of choosing a meat or fish and then a sauce seperately, as opposed to them being listen on the menu several times under each heading, i.e. Chicken in Cashew Nut, Prawn in Cashew Nut, Beef in Cashew Nut and so on, what is this larking about for? Just be straight up, you've got some cashew nut sauce in that kitchen haven't you? They also do a 'mixed meat' option, but that doest quite sound right to me, so I've always had prawn or chicken. For starters I recommend the soups, especially the noodle soups, which come with beef or chicken. I've got so say though, even though its only soup its damn filling so you might want to skip the delicious pre-main course treat if you aren't starving. Having said that, you could just force it down, along with some prawn crackers and prawn toast (very good here), and you'll still have only spend a few quid.

I decided to order off Deliveroo, and while my food did seem a little expensive as these delivery companies seem to add a good fee onto the price of each product, it is one of the few places currently delivering food in the city centre so I thought I'd take a chance. I ordered a Cheeseburger in a bowl with lettuce, tomatoes and onions, the bowl it normally comes in is a small foil tray, luckily I had a Vapiano reusable takeout container with me as it was much sturdier and easier to eat from (They do need to work on their takeout packaging across ALL stores especially with takeout orders the norm now) I do think it was thrown together a little hastily, the two burger patties were stuck together by cheese, it did have some good flavours though although part of the burger did taste a little dry. I also ordered a small fries to go with it, I find the Five Guys fries to be huge portions anyway so a small is normally enough for me, I did find them to be slightly overcooked. I asked for mayo and ketchup to be included in the packet but they seemed to include sachets instead, I hate the sachets as it's so hard to get sauces out and when you do, there's only a tiny amount - I would have much preferred them to fill a small plastic pot, which they normally do in stores anyway. 3* - Overpriced for pretty average food which doesn't stand out from the crowd but still the best place to get a burger in Manchester city centre during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has shut down Honest Burgers, my usual favourite for a good-quality burger and McDonald's, my usual favourite if I want to grab something cheap and quick.

I have a confession to make... With previously working across the road from Slice for 18 months it…read morebecame my 'go to' place any time i felt slightly hungry. At around £2.50 a Slice of fantastic Rome pizza, you knew you were getting a quality product - even if a wheatgrass and sushi shack would have probably been better for my waist (and heart!) The nice thing about Slice is that it's informal enough to be able to pop into for a quick slice or two, maybe an espresso or a beer and they've really nailed it when it comes to offering that laid back continental vibe that you don't really get in other UK informal eateries. Even though it's "fast food" it's all made onsite by the owners/bakers and there must be around 10 different pizzas you can get which means there's always something different to have each time. My personal favourite is the ham and leek - it's an absolute treat! It does however look like they're starting to diversify and maybe look at becoming slightly more formal in the back of the store. There's a lovely little bar in the back - nicely stocked doing Italian wine, cocktails and beers - I just hope it's visible enough for people to discover as I thought it was a real find! Slice is great if you're hungry before meeting friends, to sit outside if it's a sunny day or to get quality takeaway as opposed to just some rubbish kebab shop pizza. These guys deserve to do well as they're offering something that little bit different so make sure you check it out!

Finally got round to trying Slice after passing by countless times both drunk and sober. I had 4 slices (well 2 slices cut in half) of the Salami pizza and it was nice enough and hit the spot, however I feel the quality is sub par compared to other NQ heavy hitters! I think price wise its on the higher end for what you get which is another reason for the 3 stars. Having said this, as I left Slice after sitting inside and finishing off some work before an event, I passed some lucky folk enjoying the afternoon sunshine with a nice beer and few slices - now that is star climbing material! I think the outdoor seating area is a cool spot to people watch and wind down after a long day so I will definitely be doing that soon! Slice is good, but I think on this first visit, it's just good - not great. Yet.
