I will write a deeper review with the pictures, makeshift invoice as he's completely destroyed my yard and driveway for what I hired him for. He may be a commercial contractor but charge me $10,000 for $1200 worth of sod, took about $1000 worth of mulch and just piled it on top of the old mulch so now I have a worse mess than I did before with weeds and mold and 8 inches deep mulch that I now have to clean out myself. He ran out of sod talk to me into a island with a tree in it and wanted to charge me extra when he clearly fell short of ordering enough sod, and for grading my backyard and the front yard I think he spent a total of one hour on a tractor then drove the tractor through other parts of the yard digging up rocks ripping out my cable for two days then putting in a drainage ditch cutting my driveway for $100 box that he simply put in the ground and never replace the sod around it or checked that it worked. I now have the worst yard in the neighborhood and I've been fined and he knows I have two torn shoulders, had to takeoff work due to injuries and just feel like he sang a good song did very little work his self and made his one worker bust his ass for what work he did do but when I saw the hundred dollar a ton gravel poured over my parking area, he destroyed it and I have to redo it again. Long story do not hire this man Justin, get everything in writing signed on a contract not text message and don't be a dumb ass like me. Other reviews will pop up with pictures on every other review site buyer beware. Do not recommend an invite anyone in Winder that wants to see the work he did to call me. Very disappointed, horrible business practice. Begged me to pay him before he finished so he could pay his guy( I gave him 5000 cash down) then he wanted the other 5000 promising to show up with more sod and finish up the work correctly on top of the fact he knocked my deck down and wanted to charge me to fix it. Kept bragging about all the jobs he's done I'm starting to believe it wasn't him but his family. He clearly has money or says he does and he certainly made an $6000 profit on me.Totally pissed. Taking advantage of seniors is a big pet peeve of mine. Don't let it be yours.

My wife and I hired Brent Barton to remodel our newly purchased home in May 2014. The contract…read morespecified completion in 75 days. Since we were living a long drive away from the new home, we visited once weekly to meet with Brent Barton and his project manager. After demolition, the pace of remodeling slowed until we detected little progress at our job. Eventually the workmen admitted that Barton was not paying them or his suppliers, and that during the week they were working elsewhere, rather than on our home. We did not receive work for which we had paid, including new kitchen cabinets, yet Brent Barton was asking for additional payments. After we hired him, Brent Barton told us that he was simultaneously running crews who renovated foreclosed houses, and that he spent alternate weeks out-of-state, not directly overseeing our job. We discovered that Brent Barton had not obtained required inspections and permits from the city. We terminated our contract after nearly 120 days with the worksite in chaos, and filed a complaint with the state contractor licensing board. Some of the work that had been performed eventually was torn out or repaired, due to either substandard workmanship or not being up to code, when we subsequently used a NARI certified contractor to successfully complete our project. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this contractor.

I'm torn on what rating to give here. We hired Brent for a job. We had a crew ready to do the…read morework so all Brent had to do was oversee the job. His engineer was very incompetent. Our city inspector showed up at the same time the engineer was on site. The city inspector approved all the work the privately paid engineer was going to reject. Secondly Brent bounced a check to the city for the building permit. I got a call from the city and promptly paid it within the hour. Brent did work with our crew foreman to go over how things needed to be done. For that Brent gets a 3.5 star. 2nd project. Brent was going to obtain permitting and oversee a second job (same crew as before). Brent completely disappeared on us. He took the $1k down payment and *poof*. No permit, no returned phone call, nothing. After 2 - 3 months of calling he finally answered my call. As of this writing he had not returned our deposit. Steer clear of Brent Barton Construction.
