P2 was hungry so we decided to try out Chappy's. Coming in from out of town, we thought that this was an average deli experience that offered your typical sandwiches, salads, and desserts. I ordered the Athenian Chicken Salad and P2 ordered a club with a side of soup. All were tasty in their own right, but the soup came out cold. The Athenian tasted like a pizza, but without the bread! Surely a good choice for those on a diet. The only complaint I had was that the salad came on a plate...I wish it came in a bowl so that it's easier to mix the dressing into the salad. All in all, we were pleased with the food, quick service, and friendly atmosphere. We would consider going back if we're ever craving sandwiches or salads. read more

We had a family gathering for dinner after Christmas at the Chappy's on Vaughn Rd. We had 20+ family members of all ages - from 18 months to 95 yrs old! Everyone enjoyed their meal. We were seated promptly, and our drink orders were taken right away. Our entree orders were then taken and the food came out fairly soon after orders were taken. All the entrees were very good. I had the Texas Cheesesteak and it was excellent - Josh would have loved it! Our server was Tabitha and she was superb - 5 STARS! Andrew would have been impressed! Went with my daughter and her Siddhartha team. Even though the restarting was packed the waitresses did an amazing job of taking orders, keeping drinks full, and bringing food to all. While waiting on our food the manager entertained the girls with dad jokes and magic tricks. Food was hot and fresh when it came out and was delicious. Would recommend. read more

As for the servers, they can be hit or miss with their attentiveness, which usually correlates to the time of day. Either way, you can't go wrong with Chappy's Deli. Don't forget to ask for your free ice cream cone before you leave! I recommend the Philly cheesesteak, the bacon chicken cheddar, the Reuben, or the only salad I will order if I'm out to eat -- the harvest salad. read more

TWO STARS There's no maple syrup here?! What a huge bummer. The Log Cabin and the sugar free Cary's "syrup" were not good. Please consider carrying maple syrup or at least a real syrup. Not sure if it took away from the pancake flavor or if the pancakes had no flavor. I had a hard time finishing my meal with the tasteless corn syrup. Or maybe it was the vegetable oil butter (which I used only half of)? :/ Pancakes were not fluffy as described. They were thin and flat. The sausage patties were dry, but tasted good. They have amazing food. Great local restaurant. I'm not a big fan of French fries. There are so many laces that do them badly that I've come to expect that. I love the fries from Chappy's. They are always hot and fresh. My lunch companion had the French dip with a large fry and I had the Cobb salad. The Cobb salad was the best I have had in a restaurant in a long time. It was amazing. And I had the raspberry vinaigrette and it was a great dressing. I would highly recommend. read more

So disappointing and a waste of money. Mostly shredded lettuce, half an egg, one cherry tomato cut in half, two paper thin slices of cucumber and three olives with two pickle slices. There was some shredded lunch meat and cheap bacon bits as well. We used to enjoy getting salads from here, for the money we may as well buy our own ingredients and have good salads with more than lettuce. They also forgot a salad dressing, thankfully we looked. How do you mess up a salad? The grilled chicken salad was lacking on toppings. It had 2 slices of cucumber the size of a quarter, 2 pickle slices, one grape tomato cut in half, a small sprinkle of cheese, half of an egg, a small piece of chicken breast on top of bowl of iceberg lettuce. Not setting' the world on fire with excellent food. Took kids here and aside from the price being super reasonable the food missed the Mark by a mile. Pancakes were flavorless and sausage was not cooked fresh so it was cold. Kids ordered apple juice and got orange. I order orange juice and coffee. I got juice on ice and ice water. No coffee. Daughter ordered Kidd Turkey and cheese sandwich with Mac n cheese. Mac n cheese was good but sandwich was white bread, American cheese and a hint of Turkey meat. Came here for a quick dinner one weeknight. They weren't too busy and we were promptly seated. The service was good. The vibe inside feels like a 50s diner to me. I decided to order a special they had, the fried green tomato burger. The fries weren't really that special at all and kind of cold. The burger also left much to be desired. The patty itself wasn't flavorful at all. The fried green tomato batter was very gritty and also not flavorful. It really didn't add anything to the burger. This is my first time to Montgomery for a vet drop off around 9am on a Tuesday, and while waiting I wanted to try a local place for brunch. I gotta be honest, after reading all of the reviews I had no expectations of this place. I decided to try it anyways and give them the benefit of the doubt. So here it goes: I walked in what is a great corner location. Easy to see from the street and with plenty of parking. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the host, who asked me how was my day going. He immediately seated me in the middle of the restaurant. I had a view to the kitchen as well as patrons coming in. Patrons seem to know each other. The waitress stopped by and introduced herself in less than two minutes from the time that I was seated. I did ask for a glass of water with lemon and an orange juice. She returned with them and to my surprise the OJ was bottled Minute Maid. I did not look at the drink section of the menu so that was my fault but had I known I would just had the water only. She took my order politely, non rushed and took the menu. Next thing I know and in less than ten minutes my food was on the table. I ordered the healthy omelet, which, is an egg white veggie omelet with toast and I asked for the cheddar grits for an extra $.35 cents. The omelet was a good size, there were four pieces of toast cut in half, unbuttered. There are packets of Land O'Lake butter on the table. I love cheese on my grits so the cheddar grits were a hit for me. I would have had a second serving but I didn't have a lot of time. The breakfast was a good portion for a normal person 5'5", 150 pounds. If you require a hefty breakfast then you should stick with omelets from iHop. I can never finish an omelet at iHop so the omelet from Chappy's was the perfect size for me! I don't have a gallbladder so I have to eat really slow and in portions. I finished my food and the waitress brought the ticket. I have her my credit card and she took care of it. I then proceeded to use the restroom and it was clean and it smelled good. Overall, the restaurant looks like it was recently renewed. I looked behind the waitress station and it was clean and no food on the floor. The tables were clean and the bus boy was consistently clearing out the tables and cleaning them. I would say that half of the restaurant had patrons seated. It wasn't super busy but steady instead. When I return with my husband I will bring him in for brunch for sure. Well done Chappy's for improving your business! read more

Gave this place a try since I'm new in town and looking for good food. Last week I tried the buffalo chicken wrap. Well it was basically just buffalo chicken bits/crumbs. It was pretty dry and not any bleu cheese or even ranch to help balance the hot sauce they sparingly put the "chicken" in. But I was on lunch break and didn't feel like spending my time going back. Today, I go for a tuna melt with side of fruit and a sweet tea. $11 dollars later I get an open faced tuna salad with two pieces of sliced American cheese barely melted on a plain bagel. WHAT?! The tuna is barely enough to cover the bagel and WHO WANTS A MELT ON A BAGEL?! I send it back. They make it on plain toast (that wasn't toasted on the grill, by the way) and again open faced with two homeless looking pieces of cheese barely melted on top. For a place that boasts "NY flavor", I was offended. The presentation of my sandwich was also unappealing. I explained to the manager that a "melt" shouldn't be served open faced and it should be stacked healthy enough to cut in half and stick a toothpick in. THAT is how a NY deli would make it. Stop jacking our culture and cuisine and totally EFFING IT UP!!!! After seeing how dissatisfied I was, all the manager said to me was "ok ma'am and yes ma'am". He didn't even offer me a knife to cut my damn sandwich. Didn't offer to re-make it. Didn't offer my money back. Didn't even offer me a complimentary cookie! The grits are great, try the SEC wrap (not on the menu anymore, but they will still make it for you). The people are very friendly. The manager always greets people when he is on duty. Earlier this week my friend and I came into Chappy's as it is always our go to place to eat when we are home from college. The food is always something I look forward to eating when I come back to Montgomery. Along with the food, the workers are always super friendly and super efficient. Our waitress was super sweet and came back several times to make sure that our food was right and our drinks were constantly filled. I ordered my usual turkey melt sandwich and within 10 minutes it was already sitting on the table. The environment was great, super clean, and the workers were wearing gloves when preparing the food. I understand covid is going on and that may affect businesses but come on I know Chappy's has been chugging along and I have not seen less staff than before covid. Why am I saying all of that well because my complaints absolutely cannot be blamed on covid and I don't want anyone using that as an excuse for poor quality!! For some reason this is the third time in a row a mistake was made in my order. I had ordered 5 different items today and they absolutely cannot make a Dagwood to order to save their life!! I ordered it with 2 meats being pastrami and 1 being bacon. I specifically told the guy I wanted pastrami for 2 meats so that means double the amount of pastrami to which I was told "yes ma'am I understand.". HA when my food arrives (delivery) and I get ready to eat I see it BARELY has any pastrami at all on it; I'm talking NOT even the amount that would have been for just 1 meat to had been it. Not to mention the bacon as my 3rd meat was a 1/2 a slice of half cooked bacon . I also informed the guy that I wanted ranch because I don't like it with mustard or Mayo and wouldn't you know it I was charged extra for ranch as a condiment . Ok, well if you're going to charge me for it at least give me an amount worth the extra money!! Heck I got a teeny tiny little plastic cup that looks like something the dentist would fill with mouthwash for you to rinse, and that in NO way was enough for a sandwich at all!! Now if that had been the first time they messed up an order Id give benefit of the doubt and say something but this is the THIRD time I have had orders messed up, missing items, not made correctly, out of what I ordered and had already paid for, etc. so, no I will not just say something to someone. Deli-cious! It's a bit of a rundown looking place, but the menu has a lot to offer, the service is friendly, and the food has yet to disappoint. Chappy's was recommended to us by a local, and I can see why. It's a good lunch stop where you can sit down and grab a sandwich and chips (although I always get fries), and get on with your day. I've had the white kickin' cheddar and ham sandwich and the buffalo city wrap. Both were good lunch items and are just the right portion. Their fries are also super crunchy and much better than fast food fries. I've never been to New York so I can't attest to their "New York flavor, Southern Hospitality" claim, but the food is good and the people are friendly. Plus, you get a free little cone of ice cream after your meal. Can't beat that! read more
