Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the venue. The venue coordinator was difficult to find throughout the evening and, when approached, was consistently unfriendly and came across as rude to guests. The bartenders remained behind the bar all night, even when an entire table of champagne glasses needed to be filled. Instead of assisting, guests had to carry all of the glasses to the bar themselves. On top of that, the drinks themselves were disappointing. The biggest issue was the venue's lack of staffing and service. This was an event with well over 100 guests, yet The Fairfield had only two bartenders and two additional staff members, one of whom was the venue coordinator. The outside caterer, who served an excellent dinner at 5:00 PM, actually had more staff on site than the venue. Table clearing was the responsibility of the venue staff, not the caterer, yet the venue didn't begin clearing tables until after 9:00 PM. By then, many guests had already cleared their own plates and trash in an effort to keep the room tidy. Even that became difficult because the trash cans had been overflowing for most of the evening. The venue also ran out of cake plates. When more were requested, the venue coordinator responded rudely, saying she would "see what she could do," despite the fact that fewer than 50 plates had been used at that point. Knowing the family hosting the event and having attended other events they've planned, I know they are incredibly organized and detail-oriented. I'm confident the event timeline, guest count, staffing expectations, and responsibilities were thoroughly discussed during the planning process. Based on what I witnessed, the shortcomings were not due to poor planning by the hosts but rather the venue's lack of preparation and execution. The Fairfield is a stunning venue, and it has so much potential. However, until customer service, staffing levels, and event management improve, I would have a hard time recommending it for larger events.

They have all sorts of games and I have enjoyed some ping pong outside. They also sell a limited menu of food- which is awesome while Sunday Funday-ing with your friends. I have heard raves about their Bloody Mary bar and I look forward to trying that out veryyyyy soon. My latest experience was this past Friday. Friendly bartenders and they had a DJ at 11pm. It was great to have some music but not the whole "club vibe". We were able to casually enjoy ourselves up at the bar- which is a rarity to sit at a bar rail anywhere downtown on a Friday night. They have an extensive list of bottles/can domestic and craft beer! It way exceeded my expectations. Tons of liquor as well. Although you won't be getting fancy craft cocktails- their prices make drinking a jack and coke here a way better experience than other places downtown. Overall, I am a fan! Chapter 2: Chilaquiles and Birria Ramen I hesitated to order any chilaquiles after the appetizer experience. And so I asked to try the chilaquiles salsas before committing to the dish. And can I just say, thank the heavens I did. The salsa roja tasted like tomato water, legit, unfortunately. And the salsa verde was warm pepper water. Hydrating, if anything, but lacking in flavor entirely. And so I went with the birria ramen, thinking, you know, as an Asian man who loves Mexican food, this should be perfect, right? Uhhhh, wrong. Very wrong. And I feel like at this point you could guess what I'm gonna say. The birria ramen looks beautiful, honestly. But the consommé, you guessed it, tastes like WATER. There have been some Mexican restaurants with sides of consommé that I have unabashedly slurped out of the sauce container. But for the one that's SUPPOSED to be slurped, I couldn't bring myself to do it. And you would hope the actual meat in the ramen would make up for the lack of flavor in its broth. And yes, on first bite the birria gives you an addicting burst of flavor. But the birria itself is surprisingly dry, considering it's quite literally suspended in liquid. So following that first bite is 30 seconds of chewing and grinding down this dry, tasteless chunk of birria. So by the end of the meal, you might have lost more calories chewing than you gained from eating it. The noodles were thick and had an odd starchy flavor to them - I had hoped they would have at least absorbed some notes of birria, but they instead brought a unique and undesirable taste to my mouth. And unfortunately, about 90% of this dish is these noodles, so if you're not a fan of their flavor, you're in for a long haul. With all the cilantro and onions in the bowl it honestly tasted more like a birria pho, with subtle herby notes rather than a punch of birria flavor. So if you frame it that way, it at least doesn't fall short of ALL expectations. My ex's chicken and rice was good, I think. Kinda hard to mess that up. Not like I can reach out now and ask her how it was, lol. Service was alright, drinks were.... well you could probably guess how the drinks were. Whole experience was awfully watered down, if that ain't obvious by now. Two stars.
