    There are simply no words that could ever fully express our family's gratitude for Lilly Darling…read more Over the past few months, our family experienced the unimaginable, we lost two loved ones, one in April and another in June. To have to walk through that kind of heartbreak twice in such a short period of time is something no family ever expects. Through it all, Lilly became so much more than a funeral director. She became a source of comfort, strength, guidance, and genuine love during the darkest moments of our lives. From the very first meeting, Lilly treated our family as if we were her own. She carried us through every step of the process with incredible kindness, compassion, patience, and grace. Every detail was handled with such care and professionalism that we never had to worry about whether something had been overlooked. She anticipated our needs before we even knew what to ask, offered thoughtful advice when we felt lost, and communicated with us every step of the way. In the middle of overwhelming grief, she gave us peace of mind. What touched us most and something our family will never forget is that Lilly was actually on vacation during one of our funerals. Most people would have understandably stepped away, but not Lilly. She made sure she was there for us anyway. That speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. She didn't see us as just another family she was helping, she genuinely cared. Knowing that she chose to be there for us, despite being on her own personal time, meant more than words can express. It made us feel seen, supported, and deeply cared for during one of the hardest days of our lives. Lilly has a rare gift. She combines extraordinary professionalism with an even more extraordinary heart. She showed our loved ones the dignity and respect they deserved and showed our family endless compassion at a time when we could barely function. She cried with us, encouraged us, celebrated the lives of our loved ones with us, and somehow made an impossible process feel a little less heavy. By the end of these past few months, Lilly no longer felt like someone we met through tragedy she truly felt like part of our family. We will always remember her kindness, generosity, unwavering support, attention to detail, and the love she poured into helping us honor the people we lost. We dealt with…read moreunprofessional and insensitive comments from staff, poorly printed prayer cards with blurry text, a lack of accountability when concerns were raised, and mistakes during the funeral service itself. Although the funeral home eventually agreed to refund and reprint the prayer cards, the overall lack of compassion, communication, and attention to detail made an already difficult time much harder. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Cartwright Funeral Home.

    If you want your loved ones taken care of after they pass away then stay away from this funeral…read morehome! My MIL passed away on a Sunday. We met with Bill from the Kingston location Monday morning. We went over all the costs and details. For a one day 4 hour wake and a meet at the cemetery funeral it was over $9000 without including casket, vault, or anything like that. When we were there Monday morning Bill said my MIL was already embalmed. We had the services on Saturday so 6 days from the date she passed. On the morning of the wake Bill calls me and tells me that my MIL does not look good and she has significant blisters on her face and we should do a closed casket (not my MIL wishes)! Now an embalmed body properly done should not show signs of blistering by day 6. Bill stated he would talk to the owner about getting the embalming fee reimbursed. So the following Tuesday I sent an email to the owners and never got a response. I waited a week and contacted Bill. He stated that the office would give me a call. 5 more days go by with no call. Finally I threaten them with contacting the state and after 2 more phone calls to the answering service someone calls me back and states a refund will be going out in the mail. A whole $690 back from over $9000 given to them for this egregious mishap. $90 of that was because we paid for a hair stylist to come in and do her hair. Also the day of the wake the doorman kept asking the 18-22 year old females "what's the password" before he would open the door for them. Like way to be creepy! Needless to say, we got some money back for their mistake but it doesn't negate the fact that family feels like they never had a real chance to say goodbye. Also never a response from ownership of the funeral home or an apology in any way! I would stay far away from this place!

Every step of the way I was kept well informed and we were able to have the most wonderful services for her, just as she wanted and just as we wanted. We found the staff and funeral director to be available helpful and answered all of our questions that we had. If you have never gone through a loss and the stresses of losing someone they go above and beyond explaining things and walking us through the whole process. Thank you Shepherd Funeral Home
