Do know that, if you have a layover here in Dallas that requires you to change gates it can take a while. While signage is clear and easy to follow, and I was walking at a fairly brisk pace, I had about 1 1/2 hours layover and arrived to my departing gate just as the plane was ready to board. This is due to the time it takes to get to the tram, ride the tram through a few stops and to the appropriate set of gates (which are quite spread apart) and then navigate to the gate areas - so even with that long of a layover, I wasn't able to browse the shops and didn't have time to dally. That said, there were plenty of food options in this airport, including a TGI Fridays in one terminal where they guarantee diners will be in and out in 30 minutes.

But both of my flights leaving DFW this weekend were delayed due to mechanical issues with the planes. So I ended up paying more and arrived late. I missed an appointment in my destination city due to the first delay. On the first flight a rowdy group of college kids were bothering everyone but they would not quiet down even after being asked by other passengers. The flight crew didn't care and didn't do anyhting so these self-absorbed kids were treating the plane like their own private party bus. It's one thing to be inconsiderate of other people around you, but it's entirely different when you choose to be an asshole. The gate for my second flight abruptly changed and I was not notified by the airline. I was waiting at what I thought was my gate and only noticed the change when a different flight was suddenly assigned to this gate. I had to go from B terminal to C terminal in a hurry because my flight started boarding in a few minutes. When I got to the new gate the agent did not care about line procedure so he was like "ok everyone in groups 1-3 line up" and then it was a mad scramble with people complaining that people in group 3 were getting ahead of people in group 1 and other people not caring because the agent said everyone in the three groups could line up. Then the agent did the same thing for groups 4-6. Then we just sat at the gate for another half hour with no explanation before finally taking off.

On my last flight, we had chicken sausage w/ biscuits and gravy. It was delicious; I was really surprised. American Airlines is my choice!

We called the restaurant who got in touch with TSA and DFW Police at C17 area checkpoint who made sure my bag was safe and secure until I got back to it and then I still make it back using Skylink to my flight just as it began boarding! I had to leave the terminal and come back through security - but all these folks helped make it happen and I made it back home safe and sound - and with my very expensive and very much needed medical device! Amenities are modern, but I did feel like I had been transported back to the 80s for some strange reason. Maybe that is just the age of this terminal? As I said before, it's huge. End to end you start to wonder if you're still in fact in the lounge. You are... but there are more nooks and crannies to discover. There is seating in every direction, along with dedicated sections for office work, and the cubicles come complete with large monitors to hook into for more productivity. There are windows to the actual gates, though you might be cooler during the summer staying away from them. They have a conference room that can be booked for an additional cost. This lounge has a few food areas, most of them serving up lighter bites with a more "main" buffet near the bar offering the most. When I went there was a build your own bagel sandwich station, staffed by someone ready to cook up and assemble you a delicious sandwich to order. The bar isn't big enough to accomodate the traffic when busy, at least when I was there in the summer. There are also a lot of chokepoints where you can just get stuck waiting to move. The showers can be utilized by checking in with someone in with customer service. Getting a quick shower in before a flight definitely adds to my comfort on the flight, it's a good way to decompress. Bathrooms are large and clean, you get your own stall with an actual full length door, like at a Buc-ees. The air conditioning is nice and cold in the office section to the left, seems to get much warmer in the window area. I do not often fly AA, but this was a worthy lounge, and I certainly appreciated it while awaiting my connection.

My mom and I started attending this church and upon our first visit, we were approached and invited to lunch with an "elder", who began courting my mom and ended up marrying her, against my will. Suffice to say, this man was not a godly man, and the church treated our family like outcasts instead of helping me. I was made fun of by the youth group and called a loner, was ignored, isolated, and humiliated to sit on the front row of this church with my "family", yet we were cordially ignored and avoided, eventually being asked to leave the church. It always confused me, how people who sang about helping others, grace, helping the helpless, chose to turn their backs on me. When I finally had the strength to leave Irving in 2008, I called my so called pastor of this church to seek guidance, support and finally use my voice and share the truth, something that I had not been able to do since 6 years old. No matter how many times I called his office, how many messages I left, I was repeatedly told he was busy, or unavailable. I even reached out to his family, which was of no use. It broke my heart, that a place that boasted they were so full of God's spirit, could reject our family instead of intervening. An entire organization who Saw ME as an embarrassment instead of being an advocate for a defenseless little girl. I can never again take this church seriously as they have put their money where their mouth is and have shown me for over a decade, their true colors. My advice would be hard pass. Like most churches, they will have modern affects. Fresh coffee. Bright, shiny smiles. Even wonderful people who are being unknowingly exploited for free labor AKA serving, however the "warm fuzzy" feeling that coats you as you walk in isn't the holy spirit. It's a song and dance to get you to fund their illusion and kush lifestyle. So incredibly sad that the gaudy, prideful and arrogant people of this church never took the time to see I needed help, that my mom was too worn down and emotionally weak to take care of me and leave the "Elder". We were surrounded a sea of religious leaders who never intended to get their pretty shoes dirty. Thanks for everything, Calvary Church, what a gem!
