The service wasn't great--slow and inattentive--and the food really missed the mark. It felt like every dish swung to one extreme or the other. The potato appetizer was way too spicy and overly seasoned to the point where it overpowered everything else. The prime rib was a major letdown: overcooked and somehow completely lacking seasoning, which is unforgivable for a dish like that. The mole with the short rib had good flavor, but once again the meat was overcooked, making it tough and disappointing. All in all, the experience was less than meh. With inconsistent food, poor service, and only decent drinks to show for it, this isn't a spot I'd return to or recommend.

From a historical perspective, learning about mezcal in the pre-Colombian period and innovations in the art in post-Colombian period. That tequila is a form of mezcal born in the early 1900s, that's its aromas and flavors are affected by the soil, climate, and health of the agave itself. I learned how to identify defects and how to appreciate a fine tequila! This place is awesome they carry some of the best artisan tequila. A must-visit if you're in the area, whether you're a tequila fanatic or not!

The music in the restaurant this particular evening went from modern lounge to 1940's French jazz. I felt I was back in Boudreaux France at times. Great fun and plenty to chose from on the wine list. It's way too loud for the quality of speakers they have. It's giving me an insane headache so I can't really enjoy anything. Since the hotel is right in the historic center, it's great place to stay while visiting the Hospicio Cabañas and other cultural spots. My room was nice and old fashioned, which helped me relax.
