I ate at La Forja restaurant inside the hotel several times while a guest. Breakfast was good, and the Continental was enough for me. One morning I tried the Molletes Dulce instead of toast, and, while delicious, it was too much for one person to eat. Besides cinnamon, they also offer a savory version with cheese and beans. For dinner I had the Caldo Tlalpeño, which is a spicy chicken vegetable soup, carne asada, and also tried the hotel's special fish, which was the best dish I had in Jalisco state. I thought the cocktail, a Paloma, was weak, but overall everything was very nice.
I also tried a few tourist restaurants, but they were crowded and not very good. Since the hotel is right in the historic center, it's great place to stay while visiting the Hospicio Cabañas and other cultural spots. My room was nice and old fashioned, which helped me relax. Not super expensive fancy 5 stars, but 5 stars from a frequent traveler. read more
