My "southwest office" is right next door, so we stay here whenever we're in town for business.
The food and service in the restaurant are excellent. The staff is friendly and works to get to know repeat customers. The steak is delicious. The fried shrimp should be called prawns because they are far from shrimpy in size - even not in peak season, they're the size of my hand. The caldo tlapeño is a favorite - just a great tortilla soup. Breakfast, with chilaquiles and all kinds of meat stews, cooked potatoes, and fresh tortillas is a great way to start your day. They'll also make you eggs to order (I recommend them with chorizo and cheese) or pancakes.
As to the hotel: the beds are a bit stiff, the tile floor is cool with huge grout lines, there's a surprising amount of road noise, and the wifi is sporadic, particularly in some rooms. But the atmosphere is nice, especially with the fire pit, the bougainvillea and other decorative plants in the courtyard, and the water fall into the pool. It makes the long days better when you can walk next door and finish your computer work with your favorite Mexican beer in a frosted mug while enjoying the courtyard. There is a small gym with a treadmill and some weights, but I've only known one co-worker to actually use it. read more
