Changing Echoes helped me to discern between healthy and harmful thoughts and ideas (disguised as helpful thoughts). Sinkin' Thinkin' and behavior is what gave birth to self medication and addiction. Sorry I misspelled Vulnerability but in response to blaming others for my wife's bad behavior? She and I went through extensive therapy, namely couples therapy, one on one therapy for me & her then into church and we are still married now 34 years. She did get off drugs but not through AA or NA but church and Christian counseling. I do not excuse her behavior or mine on how I was reacting and being codependent but let me be clear co-ed environments like changing Echoes invite trouble for those getting off drugs & alcohol. I don't know if Changing Echoes has changed any of their policies but without proper guidance and supervision from trained Counselors people will try to fill the void with whatever they can and sex is a big one. Now, I know my wife was wrong and I did hold my wife accountable for her actions but changing echoes was the vehicle to covered up the whole situation and did not come clean with me about it then and ever. Take my warning or not,I just wouldn't want someone else to go through what I did. read more

I want to give this place a good rating because they really are well-intentioned but what they offer barely scratches the surface of addressing the multifaceted thing that is addiction. The counselors were great people but the only 1:1 work they do is give assignments pertaining to steps 1-3 as you work through them. They only offer guidance to work through the [12-step] program and their program - no therapeutic services or clinical perspectives, both of which are crucial for recovery. Minimal feedback on assignments would be given to really explore the addict's root issues. Overall it felt a little half-assed. Expect to gain weight there as the food is highly processed and calorie dense. The beds will kill your back. And most of the lecture material and counselors expertise hasn't been updated since 1998 - literally. We watched videos of the cult-ish founder of Changing Echoes where he spewed pseudoscience with no evidence to back his wild claims. Overall the program needs an overhaul to include current, evidence-based education material and practices, and a more tailored approach for each individual addict - as we are all unique and have had different life experiences that sent us into addiction. I'd say give Changing Echoes a chance if you have a spiritual side to you, are ready to dive into a 12-step program, and don't feel therapy or clinical services are needed for you. Unfortunately I relapsed 4 months after leaving and am now on my way to a much more skilled treatment center that will address all of my complex needs and then some. read more

Anybody that has anything bad to say about Changing Echoes and/or their staff, is just upset that things didn't go their way and they need someone/something to blame!! I went through Changing Echoes in the beginning of 2021 and I have since rebuilt my entire life thanks to them. The entire staff is AMAZING!! Yes, somethings could use a little updating, but from what I heard, they are in the process of doing that. The staff honestly wants to help and improve other's lives. If you are having a hard detox, they do anything and everything they can to make you comfortable. I was a resident for over 2 months and it made all the difference in the world. The staff helped me to look into aftercare/outpatient services, build my resume, look for work, housing, and even helped me with my court/custody case to help me get my children back! They made sure that I was good to go before I was discharged. If they have the means, they will take those in that can't afford it and eat the cost! It's crazy how much they truly want to help us addicts/alcoholics! If you go to Changing Echoes with the intention of wanting a better, sober life, they will show you the way to live and how to obtain it. I owe my life to Changing Echoes! First off I have been to plenty of these places. I came here to give myself a refresher, or a boost to my recovery. I came in with 15 months sober, during COVID. I found that this place had some very experienced counselors, and a great staff. They worked with me on every issue I had, and I am truly grateful. I would say that it's not perfect here. I think your experience at any of these places could hinge on the strength of the group (your peers). We had a great group. I earlier read a review about the co-ed aspect of the facility. This is a non issue. As if you come here for your own recovery you wont have issues. Furthermore, being that it's co-ed it gives a necessary dynamic to the group. My honest take is the food is okay. I think it could be better. Able does a great job with what he's got. However, I think it could be a little better. Just being honest. I am very grateful that I came to this place. Dwayne, Jan, Linda Joe, Lance, and everyone I didn't name did a fantastic job. I would sincerely like to thank everyone I came in contact with at this treatment center. I found a place that seemed to actually care about the clients. We were all treated with respect and courtesy. I now have 16 months. I didn't drink. Everything is going to be okay. I don't have time to tell the world how many treatment centers I have been to. Changing echoes is one of the best Ive been to. Probably the biggest bang for your buck. I love Changing Echoes. My adult son has been so happy there since his arrival and is doing so well. There are just the right number of residents..max 30 ( just a guess). The staff are outstanding, the food is excellent, the setting on 20 acres in the country near Angels Camp is beyond beautiful. Changing Echoes has a very interesting program. Many of their clients are referred from various unions. A driver will take residents to family support groups, affiliated with unions, to outlying cities like Visalia, San Francisco, Sacramento, etc. There is an outreach employee who works with clients to find appropriate sober living homes. The cost is reasonable. You could spend 5 times what you will spend here and get less. Changing Echoes has a warm family environment. read more

Counselors are fantastic. Really informed and willing to share the right info at the right time. I think they can improve with anxiety training. Yoga would be a great way. I'm older and my experience was safe and really hard. However, I got out of it exactly what I put in, which was everything. .Totally clean and sober. The food was just ok. Definitely eatable. I'm a non smoker. It seemed as if most everyone smoked, staff included. About 80% when I was there. But hell, I was there to get clean and sober not to bitch about smoking. After care is good. They don't discriminate and went out of there way to really help everyone in need. read more

I went to changing echoes and I am so glad that I did. Not only did I get on the path to recovery I found out a lot about myself. I love the counselors because they are caring individuals and I could tell they wanted the best for me and my fellow clients. I laughed a lot, cried at lot but I was set on a path of self discovery that will last a lifetime. Although the program is not "religious", it is very spiritual and if you are Christian and struggling there is something there for you. My aftercare program is so far working well and I'm so happy they encouraged me to continue on after my graduation. Changing Echoes has taught me the tools of recovery and given me the chance to succeed out here in the real world. The counselors were available too me whenever i needed to talk or had questions. I believe what helped me a lot is the fact that my counselor never told me "this is what is wrong with you and here's how to fix it!" I was given suggestions and coached into digging deep within myself to uncover years of pain, hurt, personal lies, etc. and I was taught how to cope and manage these things.I was given referrals to outside counseling/therapy for certain issues that my counselor was not trained to deal with. By following the suggestions of my counselor & my sponsor and other men in the fellowship, I have just celebrated 1 year clean and sober. My life is good today, not perfect, but definetly good.
