I happen upon Change Sheng Store on New Years Eve. I was picking up some food in Chinatown and happened to notice a well lit door leading into a basement. Being of the curious type, of course I took a peek to see what was down there. I opened the door and made my way down the extra narrow stairway. The further down the stairs I went, the more glass jars and plastic buckets of herbs I saw. Just as I reached the last step and stood safely in the store I was greeted by two wonderfully pleasant Asian women, you know just like your mom or grandmother. The selection of their herbs, dried flowers, dried mushrooms, rare berries and some Asian natural medical items was impressive. The women seemed so happy to show me around the store and answer all my questions. I did not arrive with a list of herbs I wanted/needed. However they had some Organic Goji Berries which I had to purchase since the Organic ones are far and few between. And I decided to treat myself with a treat of Korean Ginseng Candy imported from Korea which is another hard to find item. I will return when I need to replenish some herbs and teas to see what they have. The prices seemed to be very fair and the atmosphere was great thanks to the wonderful ladies who helped me out. They also had a wall covered with a large apothecary chest, so I assume but forgot to inquire if they mix herbs for you. My guess is most definitely :). Please put this shop on your next trip to Chinatown. FYI to enter store use the glass door located between the Gourmet Dumpling House and Quik Pic BBQ be careful entering the first step is a doozy. Lol. Enjoy‼‼ read more
